Lodge 202, Jourdanton member Frances Kovar achieves Grand Age of 100
SPJST congratulates Sister Frances Emillia Kovar of Lodge 202, Jourdanton, who celebrates her 100th birthday on Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Frances was born to Charles and Anna (Zetak) Belicek in Granger, Texas. She had four brothers Frank, Henry, Charlie, and Willie Belicek (all deceased) and two sisters Minnie Vrana and Annie Mann (both deceased). Frances married Joe Kovar, Sr. on November 29, 1938. They had two children, Frances L. Regner (spouse James E. Regner) of McCoy and Joe Kovar, Jr. (spouse Pat Kovar) of Victoria. Frances and Joe farmed in Charlotte for 34 years. Joe passed away in 1975. Frances worked in the fields with harvests during her entire life on the farm. Frances’ daughter Frances Regner visits her seven days a week. Daughter
Frances says her mother always talks about how grateful she is to have her workers. “Mom asks, ‘Who is coming tonight?’ and she talks about her morning and noon worker, what they talked about, and what she had to eat. Her workers are her second family, and every day is a great joy.” Frances has lived at St. Francis Villa since 1980. “She was the first tenant to live at the complex,” her daughter says. “Living alone and being 100 years of age with excellent health is a blessing.” Frances loves to do word search books, and she calls them her ‘puzzle books.’ Frances says, “TV is not for me.” She enjoys her plants and flowers. We salute Frances Emillia Kovar on attaining the Grand Age of 100, and we wish her much health and happiness! —SPJST—

a large crowd is anticipated. Please feel free to share this invitation with others in our SPJST family. It’s important to recap the events leading up to next Friday’s dedication ceremony. Two-and-a-half years have passed since a fire inside a storage building at the West Fertilizer Company triggered the April 17, 2013, explosion that killed 15 people, 12 of whom were emergency services firstresponders. More than 200 others received injuries. The toll on the city was devastating: The blast damaged buildings for blocks in every direction, including more than 150 homes, a 50-unit apartment complex, West Rest

Readers Write
Remembering the Early Texas/Czech Settlers
When I retired from teaching, I had the first opportunity in my adult life to enjoy one of my favorite pastimes, which is reading. One of the things I wanted to learn more about were the early Texas/Czech settlers. I thought I knew a lot about them. After all, my dad had been Secretary of the SPJST Supreme Lodge all my growing up years, plus he had a great interest in the subject and many books on it. Also, I grew up in Fayetteville attending scores of lodge meetings, conventions, etc. all around the state. I found some appropriate books on other groups – Germans, Swiss, Italians, etc. Many of us have family letters, books, pictures, stories, etc. But nothing I found either in my own collection or others, satisfied my curiosity or told me enough of the whole story. Where/how had they lived in the “old” country. What drove them out of their homes? How did they travel over such a large continent? What were their hardships? What kind of ships did they come on? What happened when they first set foot on Texas soil? One big example of my ignorance is I had no idea the Czech lands were part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the time that immigration began. For some time, I searched for a readable book which would interestingly answer my questions. On several occasions I consulted with the late Dr. Robert Skrabanek who had written several books on different aspects of our heritage. I asked him to write such a book. He answered he was past that and suggested I do it. I was shocked. I had never even thought of writing a book. In one of our telephone conversations, he said, “Write it, and I’ll help you.” He did, and I did. After five years, a trip to the Czech Republic, many wonderful experiences, and many, many hours at the computer, I had a manuscript. My Rozina was born. Getting it published is another story.
Some of you know the finished product is called Invitation to Cat Spring. Many of you have seen me do the first person/in costume book review which I gave several hundred times to schools, lodge meetings, family reunions, etc. all over the state for five years and still do occasionally. I won an award. It has been a highlight of my life. If you are interested in a copy/copies of Invitation to Cat Spring, please see my ad on page 28 of this week’s Vestnik. It would make a perfect Christmas gift for anyone interested in the early Czech/Texans. Mary Frances Chupick Bennett SPJST Lodge 202, Jourdanton

Sokol West
Continued from Page 1.
Haven nursing home, West Emergency Medical Service headquarters, West Fraternal Auditorium, Lone Star Hall, West Middle School, and West High School. Those living in and around West reported that the blast felt like an earthquake. The United States Geological Survey recorded the explosion as a 2.1-magnit u d e t r e m o r. The boom was heard in nearby Hillsboro, Wa x a hachie, DeSoto, and as far north as Arlington. In the aftermath, West became the focus of nationwide media attention. While the emphasis was on coverage related to the explosion and the devastation in its wake, feature segments called attention to the city’s Czech cultural heritage and the depths to which it defines the community. Indeed! One of the highlights of the 2015 Westfest Celebration held Labor Day weekend was the fanfare related to the signing of the proclamation declaring the city of Kunovice in the Czech Republic as a Sister City to West. Much of West’s recovery efforts have been volunteer driven. Texans and many others have been resolute in their willingness to give of their time, their money, and their resources. That, of course, includes the people of West. Within days of the April 17 blast, many West residents had started on the recovery process, replacing blown out windows and making minor — and major — home repairs. Two-and-half years later, neighborhoods that had been devastated by the explosion are graced by dozens of beautiful, new homes. A 10,000-square-foot EMS headquarters stands where the old one stood before the disaster. Bigger and better, the EMS headquarters houses crew members, ambulances, and equipment, and provides room for training. On a related note, the new History of West Museum, which tells the colorful story of this vibrant community was dedicated on June 20. And, on August 9, dedication ceremonies were held for the 75,000-square-foot West Rest Haven nursing facility.
Plans remain on track to complete the new West High School and Middle School complex next May. SPJST — through the West Benevolence Fund and through its lodges and members statewide — has been a strong supporter of the Sokol West Gym and Community Center project and various other West-related recovery initiatives. My sincere thanks and admiration goes to the West Benevolence Committee members and their spouses for their diligence in these endeavors — Lodge 6, Cottonw o o d President Milton Peterson and wife Irene; 35, Elk President R a n d y Pavelka and wife Ta m m y ; Lodge 54, West President Freddie Kaluza and wife Janice; and Lodge 66, Waco President John Engelke and wife Diana. It’s important, too, to acknowledge that the Washington-based group “American Friends of the Czech Republic” has been working closely with the American Sokol Organization, Southern District Sokol, and Sokol West on efforts to raise awareness and funding for the Sokol West Gym and Community Center. The Czech Republic has also been a major supporter. Czech Ambassador to the United States Petr Gandalovič travelled to West immediately after the explosion to personally express his condolences to those affected by the blast. Together with Texas Governor Perry, he was able to visit the most gravely impacted area of the town and see the damage with his own eyes. He also met with West Mayor Tommy Muska and members of the local Czech-American community to discuss specific forms of assistance that the Czech Republic could provide to the town. On a followup visit to West, Ambassador Gandalovič presented West Sokol with a donation of 4 million Czech Crowns — approximately $200,000 — on behalf of the people of the Czech Republic to facilitate the construction project. I look forward to seeing you in West this Friday. Fraternally, Brian Vanicek Supreme Lodge President —SPJST—

2016 is Coming! It is time to think about delegates for the 2016 convention as well as officers and other projects for the coming year. It’s hard to believe that 2015 is almost gone. Where has the time gone? We have been trying to get a few of our members interested in joining us at our meetings. In October, we had bingo after the meeting. Waldine and Delilah were the winners. Before bingo, we enjoyed sausage, home canned pickles, okra, lemon bars, apple pie, and buchty. Irene brought her projects: homemade dolls, dollies, and bear, as well

Lodge 47, Seaton reports on November meeting
Dear Vestnik Readers, The November 1, 2015, meeting of Lodge 47, Seaton was called to order at 1 p.m. by President Edwin Pechal. Flags were presented by youth members Chase Alexander and Garrett Festa. Members stood for a moment of silence in memory of our departed members Russell Malcik, James (Jim) Mucha, and Tommy Pope. May these brothers rest in peace along with God’s blessing to their families. Lodge member Clarence Pechal is on the sick list along with Leroy Dana and Nelda Marek who was recently in the hospital. It was good to see Leroy and Nelda at the meeting and feeling better. It was 100 percent participation for all lodge officers, board members, and active sales agents attending the meeting. Thirty members and our faithful visitor, Tom Williams, were present. The October minutes were read by Secretary Patsy Koslovsky and approved with a correction of the omission of a happy anniversary to E.J. and Sharla Pechal who celebrated five years of marriage. My apologies! I hope you had a wonderful anniversary with many more. The October unapproved board minutes were also read. New members welcomed and accepted into our lodge are Clara Frances Elliott, Milton Lentz, and Nora Helen Milburn along with youth members Mason Hinojosa (written by Patsy Koslovsky) and Ariana Federle, Rebecca Federle, and Lydia Federle (written by Tammy Martinez). We are
very happy to have you all as new members, and we invite you to become active. Mason, Ariana, Rebecca, and Lydia are new youth club members and joined District Two on the Six Flags trip. We were glad to have Frances join in on the fun also. Joyce Kraatz made a motion along with a second from Ruth Hanusch to accept these members. The motion carried unanimously. President Pechal thanked all who came to the meeting today. He stated we will elect lodge officers, board members, and nine delegates for the 2016 SPJST Convention. Our lodge was shy of the 15 percent increase in membership which decreased the number of our lodge delegates. He reminded everyone that it is the responsibility of each member to refer new people to join SPJST. He thanked the insurance sales agents for the new members they have written up. Don’t be shy. Tell your friends, family, and everyone you know what SPJST has to offer while protecting their family. President Pechal stated with all the rain received in East Bell County, which caused a lot of flooding, the roof developed a water leak which was fixed very promptly.
Supporting Rescue Elves Correspondence included a letter from Temple Fire and Rescue seeking a donation from the lodge to the “Rescue Elves” program which provides gifts for children age zero to 18. Last year, they sponsored 147 families totaling 407 children. We have supported this program for many years and will continue to do so again with a $100 donation. FAC Tammy Martinez spoke on upcoming events. The Home Office will have its annual open house fol-
tool shed, he said, the flood destroyed about 100 bales of hay and his lathe and electric tools. Thankfully, his house was not affected. “Our permanent fence along with the cedar posts and gates were laid flat, and some were lost because they floated away,” Bobby said. “Even though the rains recently totalled more inches, the flooding has been minimal.”
lowing the Temple Christmas parade on December 7. A lot of activities will be held throughout the evening. Watch the Vestnik for details. This is such a wonderful event hosted by the Supreme Lodge officers and employees. Everyone always has such a nice time with all the entertainment, delicious food, and drinks. The hot chocolate is especially soothing if the weather is cold and you have been watching the parade. Tammy also reminded everyone of the Progressive 42 Tournament which will be held at the Home Office on Saturday, January 9, 2016.
Youth Club Activities Youth Leader Joyce Kraatz stated the youth club meeting would be held after the mother lodge meeting. Several members had come earlier to practice for the Christmas program the youth will be having at the lodge’s annual party on December 13. Youth members are looking forward to the District Two Lock-in which will be held at the Temple Parks and Recreation Center (gym) on Friday, November 13. Friends are invited. There will be a practice for the Christmas program at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 28 followed with the decorating of the lodge at 12 noon. Pizza and drinks will be served. Joyce thanked Ginger Ringwald for suggesting that youth visit the Veterans Hospital Hospice Center after decorating the lodge hall. Members will participate in a Christmas decorating contest. What a great way to bring Christmas joy by sharing these youth’s smiles with patients. On December 6, youth will meet for a short practice at 11:15 a.m. They will then head down the road to Ratibor Country Grill for their Christmas party. Members, remember
to bring a $5 gift card from your favorite place. The youth treasurer’s report was given. Treasurer Becky Zavodny gave the treasurer’s report which was approved. She also gave the third quarter audit report. Bar Manager Danny Stepan and Entertainment Manager Michelle Porubsky gave their reports. The hall is reserved for November 15 and 21 for private events.
Election of Officers The time came for election of Lodge 47 officers. Secretary Patsy Koslovsky handed out a list of all members who were eligible for office. President Pechal reminded everyone that local dues had to be paid prior to voting. With everything in order, a motion was made to reelect the same officers who served in 2015. Patsy Koslovsky stated she will be willing to take the office as reporter, but has not been able to get pictures at the lodge activities due to other duties. She thanked Amber Bartek for serving as photographer this last year. Both Patsy and Amber feel they have not been doing their jobs to the best of their abilities, and would like to have someone else be the photographer for the lodge. Dolores stated she would be willing to do so since she works on the lodge scrapbook. Dolores and Patsy will work together on getting the letters and pictures submitted to the Vestnik. Dolores, I thank you and appreciate your willingness to take the position. I know you will be super in picture-taking. The motion was seconded, and all officers were reelected. Seven members were elected to take the position of board members along with the officers. Nine members were elected to serve as delegates to

Dear Readers, Let me start off by saying that I am so sorry that I haven’t been able to write before now. This year has been very busy and hectic, but I have enjoyed attending many events as State Queen so far. First up was Westfest in August. I very much enjoyed riding in this parade and attending the festival. West, Texas, is a town bursting with Czech culture, and I always enjoy stopping at Czech Stop Bakery or Slovacek’s for some fresh kolaches and klobasniks. The picture I have added to my letter is one of my favorites from Westfest. It’s of me and my court having a bit of fun while working the SPJST booth. A week later, I attended the Caldwell Kolache Festival where I was able to judge the kolaches. There were so many different kinds of kolaches and klobasniks, and I got to try some that I never have before. I was also very lucky to get to meet the former mayor of Prague. He was touring the United States at the time, and one of his stops was the festival. We got to eat lunch with him and talk to him about the Czech Republic. Fast forward an entire month, and I am at the State Fair in Dallas. At the
State Fair, I got to dance beseda at the Heritage Museum and help out at the SPJST booth. It was so much fun walking around the fair and seeing Big Tex. I’ve been on a bit of a break from State Queen appearances and have just been catching up with senior year and cheering at all the Friday night football games. But I’m very excited to get back to it and attend all the upcoming Christmas parades; especially the one in Temple! I want to give a big thank you to everyone who has had a hand in organizing these events and in helping me appear in them. They have been wonderful experiences that I will never forget. I also want to give a special thanks to my court - Brady, Seth, and Makayla! They have been awesome and have made all of these events even more enjoyable. So as you can see, my year has been very busy but also very fun and exciting. I hope to “Czech” in with you all again soon! Dobry Den and S panem bohem! District Five Visits Friends of the Forest and SK8Town Saturday, November 7, 2015 • Conroe, Texas
Dear Members, District Five went to the Friends of the Forest on Saturday, November 7, 2015. Even though it was raining, we had a lot of fun. We got to see a redtipped hawk. His name was Fred. Then we went on a hay ride through the forest and stopped at different spots where volunteers told us about different wildlife in Texas. I learned that possums are good
to have because they kill and eat snakes. I also learned the difference between poisonous and venomous snakes. Poisonous snakes make you sick whereas venomous snakes can kill you. Red and black is a friend of jack, red and yellow will kill a fellow. Since most of the things at the forest were rained out, we went to SK8Town to roller skate. It was a

Lodge 25, Ennis Youth April Dvorak Participates in Envision Program

Lodge 25, Ennis Youth Club member April Dvorak was one of the outstanding high school students from across the nation who took part in a unique career development opportunity this fall, the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): National Security — Diplomacy, Intelligence and Defense, an Envision program. The forum, held each spring and fall in Washington, D.C., introduced students to firsthand experiences and challenging career options in national security and related fields. The curriculum for the six-day forum held in October was based on actual world events. Throughout the program, students developed critical thinking, leadership abilities, and public speaking skills to tackle the complexity of national decisionmaking in the face of a challenge, crisis or conflict. “Through specialized simulations, the program puts students in the driver’s seat to plan for peace and preparing for crisis,” said Marguerite Regan, Ph.D., Dean of Academic Affairs for Envision and Lodge 25, Ennis Youth Club member April Dvorak, right, is pictured with Alexandria Hoffman. Legend Christmas ornaments from TCGS reflect warmth, hospitality, friendship, love By Nancy Machu SPJST Lodge 29, Taylor
Rarely have I stopped, in years past, to reflect on why interesting ornaments, that seemed to have no relationship to Christmas, were hung on Christmas trees. Thanks to Texas Czech Genealogical Society’s President, Charlene Hurta who is a member of SPJST Lodge 200, Bruceville-Eddy, I am learning and appreciating the various ornaments that correlate with many worldwide Christmas legends and traditions that have been passed down through the generations, or that have become symbols from stories long-revered in many countries of the world. It is my wish that others are also learning and benefiting from Charlene’s knowledge and love of everything Christmas. All ornaments are available in the Texas Czech Genealogical Society’s gift shop located in the basement of the SPJST Home Office at 520 North Main Street in Temple. From November 30 through December 11, our gift shop will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. On Monday, December 7, we will be open from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. during the annual Christmas Open House. For further information about the ornaments, or to place an order, please contact Nancy Machu at nbmachu@aol.com. This week we would like to showcase ornaments that speak of warmth, hospitality, friendship, and love. The Legend of the Cardinal The red cardinal is known as the “Christmas Bird.” Its scarlet coloration represents the blood of Christ,

shed on the cross for our redemption of sins. When life s e e m s dark and hopeless, hope and cheer can be found if we focus on the love of our Lord. The cardinal’s color represents the love of the season, and on his wings, he carries glad tidings of Christmas wishes and blessings of health and happiness for the New Year. The cardinal is a symbol of beauty, warmth, hope, cheer, and happiness. The Christmas Cardinal ornament is priced at $10.
The Symbol of the Teapot When one thinks of a teapot, it is normal for our minds to turn to the United Kingdom where drinking tea is a very common, several times a day ritual, often accompanied with great ceremony. However, the brewing of tea in a pot dates back nearly 5,000 years to ancient China where a brass pot was used. Today ceramic and porcelain teapots are more common. In many countries, tea is a viable substitute for coffee, which is the drink Americans usually offer guests in their homes. In the Czech Republic, many people prefer tea, and visitors to the United States often purchase tea as gifts to take home to family and friends. The teapot is a symbol of hospitality. A cute, painted or glittered teapot ornament can be yours for only $14.
The Symbol of the Bird Nest If you have traveled to the Czech Republic, you are aware of the Czechs’ love of nature. Until recently, artificial Christmas trees were non-ex-
istent in t h e i r homes, nor were trees with electric, twinkling lights. Many Czech families make a yearly trip to a nearby forest to select their Christmas trees, just as some families in the United States do. However, in the Fatherland, they take it a step further. They choose their trees not only for the shape, but for the number of bird nests it contains. The bird nest is a symbol of the home. It suggests that we should strive to make the house a place for all family members to come together as one unit, being showered with love, support, and warmth. Finding a tree in the forest of the Czech Republic, containing a number of bird’s nests, means the family will share an entire year building happy and loving relationships with each other. The Bird in the Nest ornament is available for $14.
The Tradition of the Pickle Ornament The tradition of hiding a pickle in the Christmas tree, after all the other ornaments were placed upon it is a German tradition; however, people of many nationalities observe this tradition today. The pickle can be of any size. The smaller the pickle, the harder it is to find it. Often, families place two pickles in the tree: one larger one for the youngest members of the family to find and a much smaller one for the big kids in the family to search for. The one who finds the pickle usually receives a small gift. Some families allow the person who finds the pickle to open the first gift. During the hunt for the pickle, the entire family is fo-

Story of the Indigo Blue Print
Editor’s Note: Thanks to Lodge 29, Taylor member John Stasny for sharing this article and story of the Indigo Blue Print written by Dotty Davis.
Background There were four of us, Vi and Gene Volcik, John Stasny and me (Dotty Davis) traveling to the Czech Republic recently. Of course, I was the rookie. Everyone else had been there before. We landed in Viena and were off and running. Mirek Koudelka met us with everything arranged for our entire adventure. In one day we visited three different countries - Austria, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, and we even had time to visit the Stasny family in Vsetin. What a day! The countryside was beautiful with Canola in full bloom. Everywhere you looked, it was glowing with yellow. We visited many of John’s relatives and some of Gene’s in their homes and at restaurants. It was so nice to be received with such a warm welcome from all of them. Food and drink were always served (even if we visited three or four in one day) along with the customary slivo toast. Gifts were exchanged. We traveled approximately 2,000 miles while there. We enjoyed the beauty of Prague and the castles. We celebrated Gene and Vi’s 62nd wedding anniversary while there as they did 12 years ago on their 50th anniversary. One of my favorite places to visit was a little town tucked away in the Moravian part of the Czech-Moravian Highlands which is a very special place called Olesnice na Morave. There has been preserved one of the few original blueprint workshops all over the world even until now. But it is the only workshop where the original procedure of a handmade print by wooden forms and linen dying with the Indigo is maintained. Visitors admire a traditional production of the blue print as well as picturesque patterns of the historic and unique wood forms. The forms are a heritage of the fourth generation of the Danzinger’s family. The family founded the workshop already in the beginning of the 19th century. time. Mr. Danzinger was our host and explained the tools and products to make this fabulous material known as the Indigo Blue Print. Originally, it was made from flax that was raised there. It was gathered and spun into cloth (now cotton is mostly used). Once the cloth is ready, the design

Lodge 29, Taylor member John Stasny and Dotty Davis set up a display in the narthex at Taylor Brethren Church. It tells the story of The Indigo Blue Print. This print is still being printed today after 500
process begins. Back in the beginning, a block of wood was used to put tiny nails into a design. Craftsmen and talented men came up with the different designs. Over the years, there have been several hundred designs made. Each piece of material is hand stamped. They came up with a solution of wax and other ingredients which they will not disclose. The block of wood with the nails making the design they wanted was dipped in the solution and hand pressed one block at a time on the material. After the piece was finished, it was placed on a rack and lowered into a wooden vat filled with indigo dye. Here it is processed for several hours with an attendant lowering it up and down about every 10 to 15 minutes. It was then left there to drip dry. The nail prints do not take the dye so what you have is a white design on indigo blue material. After dripping, it is put on a roller and pressed into yardage. Back in the early years, the simple five-dot flower looking print became the native dress of the Moravian Czech women. It is still used today for kroj, aprons, tablecloths, toys, and many other uses. I think they used every scrap of material for something. One of the most popular designs for today is the Onion Print – which is not an onion but designed from a pomegranate. In my opinion, the little whimsical wizard perched above the vat is a reminder that it is truly a mind boggling form of art and the genius men a long, long time ago thought this up, and it is still going on today - at least 500 years later. If you are ever in the Czech Republic this is a must to visit. Mr. Jeri Danzinger was a delightful host. —SPJST—

• Svatý Václav, vévoda české země • By Ivo Marek Choceň, Czech Republic
Svatý Václav (Holy Wenceslas, born around 907, September 28, 929 or 935) was the Bohemian Prince, the first Bohemian Saint Martyr regarding as the Czechs’ patron. He was a member of the Přemyslid’s House governors first dynasty. Svatý Václav is the individual Bohemian Saint, whose feast day is a deal of the worldwide Roman Catholic Church calendar. Enough reliable historical sources mistake for biographical information on Svatý Václav. Václav’s father was the Prince Vratislav. Drahomíra was Václav’s mother. Vratislav was Ludmila’s son, so Václav was Ludmila’s grandson. The old Slaves’ legend describes the ceremony of the Václav’s hair cutting at his seven (apx. 915). Václav’s mother Drahomíra took the Government after the Vratislav’s death (921). Václav and his younger brother Boleslav rest in the care of their grandmother Ludmila. Drahomíra believed in paganism and Ludmila with Václav were Christians. Between Ludmila and Drahomíra arose the dispute about the influence on Wenceslas about power in the Principality and the rela-
tion to the Saxony and its King, Henry Ptáčník. Drahomíra let to murder Ludmila because of the dispute. Václav began to rule as the Přemyslid’s Prince about 925. The Přemyslid Principality laid in Central Bohemia at that time, in apx. 30 km circle around the Prague Castle. Václav let to transport the relicts of the Princess Ludmila from Tetín town to Prague city, called back priests exiled through the Drahomíra and he turn his mother Drahomíra out. Václav let to build a new Church dedicated to Holy Vít on Prague-burgh (about 930). Václav subordinated to the Saxony King, Henry Ptáčník; as a tax for the preserving of the Bohemian State and the peace, he paid a tax to Václav Jindřich, (next Saxony king) in the form of precious metals and cattle. Later between Václav and Boleslav
was the variance, what reason was probably the desire of both brothers after the Prince's and power their difference of opinion on a foreign policy. Boleslav invited Václav to his feast in Stará B o l e s l a v, where he let Václav to assassinate (murder). It became probably at 935 and Václav was 29 years old at that time. Then Boleslav let transport the Václav’s relicts to the Prague Castle, where they are stored in the Hl. Vitus Cathedral. Advantages of the Svatý Václav: He honored his grandmother, he led a pious and moral life, he took care of the Christian faith propagation, he built Christian churches, he made treats of mercy and love, take care of the poor, of the sick and orphans, providing shelter and hospitality to travelers and foreigners. He was a brave and excellent rider on a horse. Sundry
