The American Fraternal Alliance is supporting a Congressional

Resolution that reaffirms the value and validity of the fraternal business model . . . and the leaders need our help. The purpose of this initiative is to raise awareness of the many contributions Alliance member societies - like SPJST - make to the financial well-being of their members, as well as the quality of life within the communities in which those members live and work. House Congressional Resolution 19, the “Fraternal Resolution” introduced in February 2015, is sponsored by Rep. Kind (D-WI) and Rep. Paulsen (R-MN). The objective is to recruit 100 co-sponsors for the Resolution among members of the U.S. House of Representatives in advance of any significant debate on reform of the U.S. Tax Code.

www.raceto100.org As of the end of January, the Alliance has secured 70 co-sponsors. The goal of 100 co-sponsors is within sight. Act now! Visit www.raceto100.org to send a letter to your Congressman today urging support for this important House Resolution 19. If they are already a co-sponsor of this bill, you can send them a letter thanking them for their support. It takes less than a minute to send the letter - and to help solidify fraternal efforts in the United States. VESTNIK

Hello. My name is Brock Donnell, and I am a member of Lodge 79, Corpus Christi. I wanted to send my thanks for the SPJST college scholarship I was awarded for the 2015-2016 school year. I am currently attending Texas A&M Corpus Christi studying GIS (Geographical Information Science). After college though, I’m planning to join the Marine Corps to become a pilot and fly. Cynthia Vrazel Strmiska announces candidacy for Vice President Dear Brothers and Sisters; I am announcing my candidacy for SPJST Supreme Lodge Vice President. Fraternalism seems to be a foreign concept to folks who are not members of a fraternal benefit society like SPJST. But to me, fraternalism is easy to define; it means family. I lost my husband, Thomas, in 2010. When you lose someone close to you, you’ll come to know the value and importance of life insurance . . . especially fraternal life insurance. No one really likes to talk about life insurance; that is . . . until they need it. Although the passing of a loved one is a time of sadness and reflection, I also view it as a duty of the highest honor for SPJST to be able to comfort families through insurance benefits and warm acts of love and fraternalism. Let me tell you a little about myself:

• Lifetime member of SPJST Lodge 15, Buckholts. Received my 50-year pin in 2013. • Licensed insurance agent with the State of Texas.

• Recent retiree from The Butler Weldments Corporation in Cameron, Texas. During my 26-plus years of experience with BWC, I held two key positions: Finance and Human Resource Manager. I also worked very closely with the company’s president, and was an integral part of our strategic planning, growth, and direction.

• Selected for Leadership Milam (2012) and Leadership Central Texas (2013). Both of these exclusive peer leadership groups meet and collaborate on projects that benefit their local communities.

• Past board member of the Cameron Chamber of Commerce. Served as secretary-treasurer, and later as vice president.

• Current Treasurer of Our Lady of the Angels Maternity Shelter (OLAMS), a 501(c)(3) non-profit in Temple, Texas.

• I come from a 100 percent Czech family. I am the daughter of Alfred Vrazel and Bernice (Vansa)

Vrazel. And I am the mother of two adult children: Matthew Thomas Strmiska and Jessica Christine Strmiska.

In a sense, SPJST has been my second family. During my lifetime, I have traveled many miles and spent countless hours enjoying the music by our family’s band, the Vrazels’ Polka Band, at numerous SPJST halls across the great State of Texas. I also enjoy visiting with my many SPJST friends at various functions. I firmly believe that the past glories and future endeavors of our society’s Czech heritage are worth supporting, promoting, and preserving. If elected, my top objectives would be: 1. Train, lead, and motivate the sales agents and Insurance Department with clearly-defined goals and information. 2. Reinvigorate and grow the membership in charter lodge areas, as well as areas where SPJST has the greatest potential for growth. 3. Ensure that our Insurance Department best serves our agents, members, and staff. 4. Offer the most competitive and appealing product line.

Bratři a Sestry, pokorně žádám o vaši podporu a hlas . . . Brothers and Sisters, I humbly ask for your support and vote. Working together, we can make SPJST the best fraternal insurance benefit society it can be. Fraternally, Cynthia Vrazel Strmiska —SPJST—

Drew Popelka announces candidacy for Vice President Dear Brothers and Sisters: I am honored to announce my candidacy for SPJST Vice President. As a proud member of SPJST, I am excited about the future of our cherished organization. I believe that I am qualified to not only operate but thrive as Vice President of SPJST. I currently practice in Temple as both an attorney and a CPA and have done so for the last 16 years. In addition to my current business experience I have been employed by several accounting firms, worked in the Home Office under the leadership of Secretary-Treasurer Leonard Mikeska, operated my own law firm and tax practice since 1999, and previously served as SPJST Legal Advisor. The Vice President is in charge of the Insurance Department and is responsible for SPJST sales agents, Fraternal Field Representatives, Insurance Department personnel, and marketing. These characteristics involve managerial capabilities that entail the qualities of successful leadership, camaraderie, and forward-looking vision. In operating my own business for over 16 years while acting as counsel, mediator, and problem-solver, I have earned and acquired the experience necessary to effectively manage the Insurance Department in a competent and proficient manner while producing measurable achievements of performance. Running my own business of a law firm has also provided indispensable experience in marketing in a cost-effective manner. Having previously served on the Supreme Lodge as Legal Advisor, I am not only familiar with the operations of SPJST, but have a proven track record as to my business acumen and knowledge. I am adept at working as a team player to undertake any decision at hand and yet confident to take a leadership position when the circumstances so require. My business experience in advising clients in my tax practice and my additional proficiency in making decisions regarding insurance and annuity products while serving on the Supreme Lodge have provided invaluable insight into the mechanics of the insurance and annuity products offered by SPJST. Through concentrated effort, I am confident that I am blessed with the credentials to flourish and assist in taking SPJST to the next level. The Vice President also has the duty and responsibility for underwriting to

VĚSTNÍK

protect the Society from unwarranted losses due to insurance policies that have been unjustifiably issued and from potential lawsuits from insurance applications that may have been wrongfully denied. Without question, my legal background will prove invaluable in this regard. As many of you are aware from my prior service on the Supreme Lodge, I am a firm believer in governing the affairs of the Society in a cost-effective manner. My business philosophy is based upon sustainable, long-term growth as opposed to short-term gimmicks that provide finite, short-term results. Quality over quantity, always and without exception. Additionally, from my prior service on the Supreme Lodge, I have repeatedly proven that I am a strong supporter of our SPJST youth program. Our youth program is a treasure that instills cultural pride, benevolence, leadership and self-esteem into the future leaders of SPJST. As such, our youth program should be guarded with all available diligence and fostered with tender care. Without our youth being willing to carry on the torch for future generations, SPJST cannot continue to flourish. For well over a hundred years, SPJST has enjoyed a fruitful and storied distinction of being not only one of the best fraternals in the state of Texas but in the nation. The current economic and business environment continues to progressively change with increasing velocity. While preserving our cultural roots and proud heritage, SPJST must proactively confront impediments in competition from other insurance providers and the continual

VĚSTNÍK

cultural changes and consumer needs. With the right leadership, this task can be accomplished. It is my hope that the delegates of the 2016 Convention carefully and thoughtfully address the issues brought forth for consideration. It is with humble confidence, I ask

that the delegates of the 32nd SPJST Convention grant me the opportunity to once again proudly serve SPJST and elect me as Vice President. Fraternally, Drew Popelka —SPJST—

On April 11, 12, and 13, 2016, there will be a three-day class at the SPJST Home Office that will prepare you to pass an exam to be a licensed life insurance agent. You will receive all of the help you will need to pass the exam, including an up-to-date textbook and CD for home study. The author of the textbook will be your teacher, Dr. B. J. Sims, an experienced instructor whose success rate for first-time test-takers has been a phenomenal 98 percent. Ask yourself, what is in it for me? First, it will help you get a better un-

derstanding of life insurance products. Second, it will provide increased income opportunities as you share SPJST with others. Third, it will give you the satisfaction of helping families solve their insurance problems and ensure their families have peace of mind. The cost for all three days is only $125. If you then become an SPJST agent (or are one already) and write at least 10 applications between April 13 and December 31, SPJST will reimburse you the cost of the class. Please contact the SPJST Home Office at 254-773-1575 by March 31 if you would like to attend. —SPJST—

Meet James Lee . . . Jak se máš? I am excited in my new role as Director of Development for the SPJST Foundation and look forward to working with the Board of Directors in ways to administer to the growth and development of the SPJST Education and Nature Center, the Czech James Lee, III Heritage Museum in Temple — and other 501(c)(3) projects of merit. I also look forward to getting to know you and inform you about the SPJST Foundation and its worthy objectives. The ENC and Temple Museum are considered priorities at this point; however, when the Foundation was established, its organizers recognized that its long-term mission needed to be sufficiently broad as to embrace the broad realm of projects having merit.

Foundation With a Purpose As Brian previously mentioned, the SPJST Foundation was organized and established in 2012 to operate as an exempt non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable, educational, scientific, or religious organization, as defined by the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. The primary purpose of the Foundation is to financially support both the Czech Heritage Museum and Genealogy Center in Temple and the SPJST Education and Nature Center in Ledbetter. The business and affairs of the Foundation are managed by its Board of Directors, consisting of 11 members. Four of the 11 directors of our Foundation consist of the SPJST President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Financial Secretary. Seven of the 11 directors of the Foundation consist of the seven SPJST District Directors. At some point, the Foundation may also include non-voting advisory board members to participate in the discussion of the business affairs of the Foundation, offering their advice and counsel. The Foundation Board and independent 501(c)(3) non-reAdvisory An Board members do not p ceive a salary and must comply with a Code of Ethics to insure that they act in aTofiduciary capacity — inand thedevelbest inadminister to the growth oterest of the SPJST Foundation.

To administer to the development of the Many Ways to Give S Making an honorary or memorial gift is a generous and thoughtful way to recognize a person’s life and accomplishments. Gifts to the Foundation may include cash, securities, real estate, personal property, collections, bequests, life insurance, charitable gift annuities, and charitable remainder trusts. Your SPJST Foundation gifts and contributions may offer you and your estate potential tax benefits in-

cluding, an income tax deduction plus reduction or elimination of long-term capital gains tax and an exemption from federal estate taxes. No matter how — or how much — you give, your generosity will make a positive difference. Over the next several weeks, we will be working on developing both short-term and long-term vision statements for the growth and development

of our SPJST Foundation. If you would like to set up an individual, family, lodge, or district Foundation meeting or would like more information on how you or your lodge can participate in a legacy gift, please contact me at 254-773-1575, ext. 246; toll free 800-727-7578; or email JamesL@spjst.com. —SPJST—

health, dating back to hospitalization in November 2015. Thank you, Regina, for your dedication and fraternal support. Our meeting had a full agenda of action and recognition. The next person recognized was our project officer, Lamerle Zajicek, who spent many hours working with the Milam County Historical Society on our preservation grant request. Ennis Sewing Circle

Ennis Sewing Circle met February 11, 2016, at the Sokol Club Room. We started arriving around 8 a.m. and stretched Dorothy Krdrna’s beautiful quilt top. It was made up of embroidered scarves made by her mother and sister Evelyn. These were really beautiful and unusual - all the scarves were different sizes. I wish everyone could have seen them. Coffee was made, and before you knew it, we were quilting. Thank you to all who quilted; we need

all the help we can get. Later in the morning, President Irene started her workshop, cutting squares for our Christmas quilt and putting them in plastic bags to pass out for members to sew. I took a bag, but didn’t get the names of other members who took squares. At noon, President Irene led us in prayer, and we all enjoyed a delicious lunch. Mary Nell Sladecek brought a pot of wonderful soup, and we had many other dishes and desserts. Thank you all for the food, the set up, and the clean-up crew. After lunch, President Irene called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all. A moment of silence was held for Edward Rijeck, Johnny Maliska, Jim Templin, Francisca Galvan, Mary E. Dolezal, and Elizabeth Denbow. The “Our Father” was for the above and all our sick members. Secretary Ann read the minutes of our last meeting, and Treasurer Dolores gave her report. Both were approved as read. Vice President Ginny read a thank you note from Sadie Kubin’s family for our donations to the St. John Cemetery Association. Ginny also read a funny article that we all enjoyed. Sunshine Lady Dorothy Prachyl announced our February birthday celebrant - Anne Tupy. As she was not present, we didn’t get to sing. Dorothy had a card for all to sign for Joan Strunc. We miss you. We hope all is going well. Dorothy also announced Agnes Dujka is now in the new nursing home in West. I hear the nursing home is really pretty, and I’m happy for Agnes. Quilt scheduler Pat reported in March that we will hand-tie a quilt for

Dorothy Kudrna; in April, we will quilt for Dorothy Prachyl; and in May, we will quilt for Irene Prachyl. President Irene asked if any items were needed in the kitchen. Someone said we needed coffee and plastic knives. Dorothy Kudrna volunteered to bring the knives, and Ginny will bring the coffee. We had one guest for lunch, Pat Fowler’s daughter Julie. It was nice to have her for lunch. President Irene had a few tips for the day. One was wash your fabric before cutting, and that you can cut four layers at a time. Our goal for the month is to get a new member for the workshop making quilt top squares. Irene also asked when we bring an unusually good dish, to bring the recipe, and we will collect them for a cookbook just for us, not to sell. We have many good cooks. Our 50-50 dollar winner was Georgia Holy. Dorothy Kudrna thanked all for coming, the delicious lunch, and the set-up and clean up crew. Our next meeting will be March 10. A motion was made by Pat to adjourn the meeting; it was seconded by Maggie Holy. I am writing this on Monday, and my mind is just not working right so if I have misquoted anyone or miswrote anything, I’m sorry. We hope to see everyone on March 10. We will tie the quilt, have a workshop, meeting, lunch, and 50-50 dollar game. Stay well and see you. Georgie Morales, Reporter —SPJST—

A memorial of masses will be sent to Elsie’s Church of St. Ann’s in Burleson. Since we were having a speaker and to give us more time for the presentation, it was voted to dispense with the reading of the minutes. Treasurer Jo Ann Wilcox gave the financial report which was accepted as presented. Sunshine Person Marie Keller reported on sending sympathy cards to Alicia Castillo on the death of her husband and to the family of Elsie Anders. Get well cards were sent to Lois Smith,

Tracy Horn, Mary Ann Krivanek, and Helen Skrasek. It was nice to have Lois back with us after an absence of a few months, and it was good to see Tracy and Mary Ann back following their absence in January. Helen was sporting a bandage on her arm. She rode the train to Waco to spend a week with her sis-

ter. While there, she fell and took skin off her arm. They took her to the doctor and nothing was broken - just a bruised arm. This week, she rode the train to visit son Ron and his wife LeeAnn. Let’s hope she doesn’t take another topple. President Margaret thanked all for

the cards, prayers, and phone calls sent to her husband during his illness. All were appreciated. Libbie Vrla reported on phone calls received from the following: Anna Johnson sends her greetings to all and said she misses everyone, but that it is too difficult for her to get out. She will be 96 years young on her next birthday, and she said she had mailed her dues to the treasurer earlier. Camille Bolcer also sends greetings to all and said she will be 100 years young on her next birthday. Lydia Alholm continues to be missed, and she will be 96 on her next birthday. She also sent greeting to all and gave me cash to pay her dues. The singing of “Happy Birthday” went out to February celebrant Shirley Martin. May you have many more. President Margaret invited all to attend the Lenten Quiet Day on February 16 at Carmelite Auxiliary in Arlington. Retreat Master will be Father John Robert Skeldon. Bring a sack lunch and a friend. Drinks will be provided. They are collecting pantry items and papergoods for the Nuns. We had lots of door prizes, but I only got names of Helen Skrasek, Paula Arsenault, and myself. Helen and Paula each brought two prizes. Thanks, Helen, and a special thanks to Paula as I believe she always donates two prizes

each month. Winners of the 50/50 dollar games were Pat McWilliams and Helen Skrasek. Elizabeth Creamer introduced our speaker - Laura Veloz from Fort Worth Nature Center. Laura brought a small alligator. She said the Nature Center was formed in 1964 and has 3,000 acres of natural wildlife. She distributed the first quarter calendar which listed all the various programs plus spring break activities. There is lots to do there. She talked about alligators, and the one she brought was about 12 inches long and will be two years old. Laura even let us touch him, but I elected not to. She talked about the life of an alligator, what they eat, and that they will bite. It was a most interesting presentation and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Laura invited everyone to the Nature Center as there are lots of various activities to do and things to see. Thanks, Elizabeth, for making these arrangements. Chief hostess Anna Marie Moncrief and all her assistants were thanked for a job well done. All tables were decorated in the valentine theme, all were different, and all were very pretty. Lorraine Cross and Debbie Skrasek decorated our table with a handmade runner made by Lorraine plus handmade hearts and other items. It was very unique. Thanks, Lorraine. We all enjoyed your handiwork. Of course, there were plenty chocolates and cookies to share. Following the meeting, grace was said and a great luncheon was enjoyed. Following, games were played and a good time was had by all. The next meeting will be March 2 with Marilyn Llewellyn and Agnes Saldana being our hostesses. The theme will be Easter, and the color is yellow. See you then! So Until, Keep Smiling! Libbie Vrla, Reporter —SPJST—

He transferred the license to his son, Frederick Underwood. “My son is a regular hunter, and he’s very excited,” Underwood said. “We’re both very active in the field and really appreciate what TPWD does.” All proceeds from the Lifetime License Drawing entry fees fund TPWD’s on-the-ground conservation efforts that help make Texas one of the most popular places in the country to hunt and fish. The fall drawing raised more than $60,000 to support Texas’

hunting and fishing programs, a nine percent increase from last year. Texas residents have another chance to win a lifetime license coming up on June 30. Entries are on sale now through June 27 and can be purchased anywhere fishing and hunting licenses are sold. Each entry costs $5, and participants may enter as many times as they wish. Lodge 9, Snook Youth: Time to Sign Up for the Wildlife Brigades

Last summer, I attended the North Texas Buckskin Brigades at Warren Ranch in Santa Anna. Let me just begin by saying, it was the best five days of my life. The brigades are a five-day conservation camp that is themed around wildlife like whitetail deer, quail, bass, or ducks for kids between the ages of 13 to 17 years old. It also has a $400 fee, but you can get sponsorships like I did. At these camps, you don’t just learn about these animals. You also learn about public speaking, leadership, and team building. You leave with many new friends that you will continue to talk to after camp. The brigades can be intense sometimes with early mornings and late nights. One morning, we got up early to go watch the sun rise, which was beautiful. We stayed up until almost 3 a.m. working on our tri-fold over a

topic we enjoyed at camp. This may sound intense, but it is also what makes camp fun because it allows me to spend more time with my new friends and learn new things. At camp, we also will march which I know actually sounds intense, too, but this was one of my favorite things about camp because it taught me how to project my voice and work as a team. During marching, we had to work as a team because everyone’s left foot had to go down at the same time and everyone’s right foot had to go down at the same time causing some of us to give up our step so the team could work. If you decide to go to the brigades and are not a good public speaker when you go, I promise you will be when you finish. Every day of the brigades is an exciting day of competitions where we

will compete to be top herd (group). We do so many different competitions like trivia, plant identification, antler raddling, and aging white tail deer. By the end of camp, the herd with the greatest amount of points wins a free hunt. The brigades have taught me so many things from shooting a gun, to projecting my voice, and creating the perfect tri-fold. The brigades have gave me so many things already after I finished camp like my first hunt where I shot my first deer. I suggest that everyone should try the brigades because it is such a learning experience. If you would like to look more into it, go to www.texasbrigades.org. If you have any more questions, please email me at sydneyfaust@gmail.com. Sydney Faust —SPJST—

In Memory of J.P. Watson

Funeral services for John Pascle (J.P.) Watson, 85, of North Zulch, Texas, were Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 2 p.m. Services were held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in North Zulch with Pastor Randall J. Smith officiating. Interment followed at Bethlehem Lutheran J.P. Watson Cemetery immediately afterwards. Visitation was Wednesday, January 13 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at Madisonville Funeral Home. J.P. went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 10. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family. He was born May 4, 1930, in New Tabor, Burleson County. He was the son of Tola and Virlena (Clepper) Watson. J.P. was baptized and confirmed on December 29, 1963, into the Lutheran faith and attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Houston. Upon moving to North Zulch, he became a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he continued to be actively involved until his passing. In 1953, J.P. entered the United States Army and served honorably through 1955. After completing his military duties and returning to Houston, he married the love of his life Gladys Ann Sefcik on June 12, 1955, in Caldwell. God blessed them with over 60 years of marriage and three children John, Karen, and Debbie. During those 60 years, J.P. owned and operated a successful dry wall and insulation business for 30-plus years. His strong work ethic carried over into his cattle ranching endeavors, which was his lifelong dream. His passions were serving the Lord, his family, working his land, raising cattle, hunting, fishing, and playing dominoes. All of these things brought him great pleasure. His home was always open to family and friends for a Sunday dinner, a few games of dominoes, or an afternoon at the pond fishing. Whether referring to him as J.P., Jake, Slim, P.J., or P, he truly enjoyed being surrounded by family, friends, and especially children, who brought him much happiness. He loved so many and had such a big heart. He will be greatly missed.

The family requests memorials be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 5084 Church Lane, North Zulch, Texas 77872. Madisonville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. —SPJST—

TCGS offers Easter egg ornaments

Before 1989 when Czechoslovakia became a free country again, Easter was limited to the celebration of spring and had no religious connection because religion was suppressed under the Communist regime. Now, although a few people observe the resurrection of Christ at Easter, it is still not a serious religious holiday in the Czech Republic, but it is mostly associated with the arrival of spring and the launch of a new agricultural year. Easter is one of the happiest holidays celebrated in the Czech Republic, lasting several days, and no Easter celebration would be complete without eggs. Texas Czech Genealogical Society has ordered a supply of beautiful, glass egg ornaments for the Easter gift-giving season. We also have Wallachian eggs in the gift shop, as well as wooden eggs with the Wallachian design. This short article addresses the tradition of eggs in the Czech Republic. The egg is a symbol of eternal life and future hope. Throughout history, eggs have been eaten and also decorated for gifts to celebrate the miracle of life and spiritual renewal. Traditions, evolving from the egg, have been carried on by Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Italians, Mexicans, Finns, Hungarians, Irish, Germans, Belgians and French, as well as Czechoslovaks. Many of these traditions are still observed and practiced today, especially in the villages. Different regions have their own traditions and customs. The hand-painted eggs (kraslice) are the most recognizable symbol of Czech Easter. The photo with this article shows the Valassko (Wallachia) Easter eggs, which are decorated in red, orange, and black, and usually made by the scratching technique, in which eggs are dyed in a single color and

then scratched off to expose the white or brown shell underneath the dye. Other methods for decorating eggs are the batik method, oil paints or ink drawings, and a method called slamenky, where wheat is cut into interesting shapes and then adhered with glue to the egg shell which has been dyed a very dark color. The wheat can then be colored or left in its natural state. Additional methods of decorating eggs can be found in many regions of the country. Easter Sunday is a day of preparation for Easter Monday. Girls paint, color, and decorate eggs, if they haven’t already done so, and reserve the best looking one to give to the boy

they are most interested in. The boys prepare braided whips, called pomlazka, made from pussywillow twigs. These whips are used on Easter Monday to symbolically “whip” the girls, which is supposed to bring them beauty and freshness throughout the year. After also dousing the girls with water, the boys recite a poem or sing an Easter carol, asking for an egg or two. The girl then rewards the boy

Today, money and plum brandy are often given instead of, or in addition to painted eggs and candy. So by early afternoon, groups of happy men can be seen staggering along the roads. MEMBER REFERRALS

When it comes to getting new SPJST members, there’s no substitute for member referrals. When an SPJST member refers a friend or family member for membership in SPJST, he or she is helping to build a stronger and more active lodge. It also qualifies you to participate in the monthly referral card drawing contest.

MONTHLY CONTESTS! All referral cards received during a given month will go into a drawing for three $25 Wal-Mart gift cards. The individual making the referral also benefits SPJST by helping to build a stronger and more active local lodge.

QUALIFY FOR THE DRAWING AT THE 2017 BANQUET! All referral cards received during the year will go into a drawing for five $100 Wal-Mart gift cards to be awarded at the SPJST Awards Banquet in 2017.

Please help us to ensure that the leads that you pass on are quality leads. We would not want any sales agent to devote precious time to calling on unqualified leads. A good referral is someone who an SPJST member has spoken with about membership and/or life insurance in SPJST and who has expressed an interest in joining. In visiting with your prospective lead, make sure that he or she knows that an SPJST Sales Agent will call. Referral cards are available from the SPJST Home Office and online at www.spjst.org.
