Off the Racetrack With Danica Patrick You may know race car driver Danica Patrick for her ground-breaking career on the racetrack. This September, however, she will be front and center talking about the power of life insurance as the spokesperson for Life Insurance Awareness Month, which is coordinated by Life Happens. Here she opens up about life and life insurance.

1 You’re

Danica Patrick, professional race car driver and Life Insurance Awareness Month spokesperson

a consummate—and fierce—racing professional, but everyone has to start somewhere. Do you remember your first race? It’s actually quite unforgettable. My sister and I started to race Go Karts when I was 10, and she was 8. The first time we took them out, it was in the big parking lot behind my parents’ business. We set up cans in a circle so we could do laps. But once out there my brake pedal fell to the floor, and I had no idea what to do. Instead of turning or spinning out, I just went straight, and at the last minute veered to miss a construction trailer and crashed into a concrete wall. I twisted the Go Kart, flew back, got Y

bruised legs—the whole deal. It didn’t scare me away, but by all means my first racing experience did not go well.

2

When did you first get life insurance—or at least consider it? It was an easy decision for me to get life insurance at a young age. I participate in a risky sport where I drive 200 miles an hour with concrete walls around me. Plus, I’ve been fortunate to have a successful career from the beginning, and I want my family to be looked after if something were to happen to me, especially since my parents sacrificed so much for me to get where I am.

“Bad things can happen. That’s just life. And that’s why life insurance is just an easy and smart way to eliminate a risk from your life.”

Minutes from the August 6, 2016 Special Meeting of SPJST Supreme Lodge held at the Mayborn Convention Center, Temple, Texas

PRESIDING The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m.

ATTENDING Supreme Lodge—Brian Vanicek, President; Hiram Dixon, Vice President; Leonard Mikeska, Chief Financial Officer; Roy Vajdak, Director of Accounting/Information Technology Services; Donnie Victorick – District One/Chairman; Jesse Pospisil – District Two; John Engelke – District Three; Billy Rollwitz – District Four; Bradley Stavinoha – District Five; Karen Kaspar – District Six/Vice Chairman; Robert J. Bayer – District Seven.

OPENING OF MEETING The meeting was opened by Chairman Victorick with a welcome and recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. A moment of silence was observed in respect to our departed members and in honor of our armed forces. Chief Financial Officer Mikeska led the Supreme Lodge in an opening prayer. PURPOSE OF THE MEETING To decide on operational procedures governing the sale and acquisition of local lodge property and/or related assets.

OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES President Vanicek reviewed the need for procedures governing the sale and acquisition of lodge properties. He named three lodges currently looking to the sale of their lodge properties. He presented a proposal setting forth a procedure to be followed. Director Bayer asked if we have authority to be involved in lodge affairs such as this. After discussion, it was deemed that procedure needs to be in place to assure that members have opportunity to be involved in the future of their lodges. President Vanicek moved that the following procedure be approved. Director Engelke seconded:

“Prior to the sale or acquisition of any lodge property, there shall be a resolution stating the terms of the sale or acquisition submitted by the lodge officers, trustees, and/or property committee at a regular or special called meeting of the lodge. Notice of the meeting must be given to each adult member of the lodge by U.S. mail. The notice of the meeting date must also be posted at least two times in the Vestnik. Discussion and voting on the proposed sale or acquisition shall take place at the time, date, and location specified in the notice. Voting on the endorsement of the resolution by proxy, mail, and/or any other form of absentee ballot shall not be permitted. The members may vote to (1) approve the proposed transaction according to the terms of the resolution or (2) authorize the officers to modify the terms and conditions of the proposed transaction. For the measure to pass, the number of affirmative votes must be at a majority of adult members voting.”

Vote was taken, and approval of the procedure was unanimous.

The Home Office will not initiate the process to sell a lodge property.

More details to flesh out the procedure will be considered in the upcoming Strategic Planning Meeting.

ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, Director Rollwitz moved adjournment, Vice President Dixon seconded, and the motion to adjourn carried unanimously.

The meeting adjourned at 9:45 a.m.

Lodge 41 Port Lavaca to present land to Six Mile Community VFD

On Thursday, August 25, 2016, SPJST Lodge 41, Nova Ratolist in Port Lavaca along with the Six Mile Community Volunteer Fire Department will have a dedication ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Lodge 41 is donating two acres of land to Calhoun County for the purpose of building a fire station. It is economically impossible for our lodge to build and maintain a lodge hall. By donating the land, we will have use of the meeting room at the fire station for our meetings and functions. This will also benefit all the residents of the area by having a vol-

unteer fire department close at hand. We hope to have the facility operational by year’s end. Cooperation between the county, the fire department, and the lodge will result in a winning project for SPJST. The lodge will be able to maintain a sign promoting SPJST and its products on the property. Anyone interested may attend the dedication on the corner of Royal Road and FM 1090 in the Six Mile area of Port Lavaca. Fraternally, Franklin Jurek, President —SPJST—

Lodge 47, Seaton shares barbecue cookoff results

Dear Věstník Readers, Friday, July 15, and Saturday, July 16, 2016, members, friends, and barbecue cookers had a great time at the Lodge 47, Seaton Annual Barbecue Cookoff. Several days before, cookers began moving in trailers and pits to participate in the big event. There were a total of 32 cookers who participated, doing their best in the chicken, ribs, brisket, and beans competitions. An award was given for the “Best Overall Team” and “Best Pit.” Many also entered “The Best All-Around Margarita” and “Bloody Mary” drink competition. It was good to see Nancy Bigon and Butch Keith with us. We’re glad you are doing better, Butch! On Friday evening, the Seaton Youth Club prepared and sold hamburgers and fries. They were delicious! Thanks to the many who worked the different shifts. You guys worked in that heat and definitely deserved many of the ice cold drinks which were available. Jerry Haisler and the Melody 5

played some fantastic music under the pavilion for those wanting to dance or just enjoy good music and friends. Thank you for such great music. Something new this year provided by the youth club was a train which took youth around the grounds. What an awesome purchase Lodge 47 Youth Club made. The youth simply loved it! Oops! Let me back up. The fun may have been enjoyed even more by several grandmothers and parents when they realized they could hop on and ride, too! You ladies were so much fun! Thank you, Donnie Pechal, for the use of the lawnmower to pull the train. We probably left you with an empty gas tank as the train ran all night. Thank you to all the kids for riding; you were great train passengers. I wish we could have made a longer trip - maybe even to Temple would have been fun! And to the boys who carried the one car all the way back when the wheel fell off, you were awesome. The next train ride is on us.

Lodge 24, Cyclone Hosts Texas Polka Music Museum Summer Bash Sunday, August 7, 2016 • SPJST Lodge 24, Cyclone Flag Hall • Submitted by Justin Everett of Lodge 47, Seaton

On Sunday, August 7, 2016, SPJST Lodge 24, Cyclone Flag Hall hosted “The Summer Polka Bash” for the Texas Polka Music Museum in Schulenburg, Texas. TPMM opened a few years ago and proudly displays memorabilia from various polka bands from all over the state of Texas. When polka music fans visit the museum, they get to see the history of polka music as well as how the bands evolved through the years in the polka music world. The fun kicked off with homemade, juicy hamburgers being served by Lodge 24 volunteers in the kitchen. We hope everyone enjoyed them as much

as we enjoyed serving them. We kept Daniel Wilde busy at that grill outside cooking those juicy patties. A silent auction was filled with treasures to bid on and a live auction featured special items. Now, we get to the best part of it all—the polka bands. The line-up consisted of two polka bands. Up first were the talented Praha Brothers. The Praha Brothers have been entertaining people all over Texas for more than 20 years. The band played the well-known polka called “Tinker.” Tom Jones and Henry Machicek joked by saying: “At first, we weren’t sure if we were going to

play the song; we had just been tinkering with it.” Next up was the very popular Jerry Haisler and The Melody 5. Jerry and his band have been performing and entertaining polka music lovers for more than 50 years. The band played a variety of Czech polkas and waltzes as well as some classic country tunes like “I Just Wanna Dance With You.” They ended their performance with a sing-along of popular tunes, and everyone joined in singing in front of the stage. It was a perfect ending to a great afternoon of fun, dancing, and music. Highlighting the day was a jam ses-

sion where both bands and other talented guest musicians displayed their talents by playing Czech staples such as “The Shiner Song” and “All By Myself Polka.” A big thank you to everyone who came out. We hope you all have a chance to visit the museum when you are in the Schulenburg area. Come back to see us at Lodge 24, Cyclone’s Flag Hall on Saturday, October 15 when we will host the popular Ennis band, “The Moravians.” Fraternally yours, Justin Everett —SPJST—

Fort Worth Friendship Club

Fort Worth Friendship Club met on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at St. Thomas Church Dining Room for our monthly meeting. The meeting was called to order by Vice President Lola Taylor in the absence of Margaret Sears. Lola welcomed everyone, and our guests were Pat and Billie, daughter and niece to Mary Agnes Ward who are visiting from New York. The theme for the day was “water,” and the color was blue. Tables were decorated with a plate of sand with shells. Thanks to Lola and Rose Ann Spann, and thanks to Barbara Becknell for the sea animal handmade creatures she gave to everyone. They were most clever and enhanced all the tables. We were all saddened to learn of the death of Anna Johnson on July 28, our long, longtime member, at the age of 96. She had been residing in Azle Manor Nursing Home for the past few weeks. Prayers were said for Anna. She will be missed, and may her soul rest in peace. Our sympathy goes out to her family. A monetary gift will be given to St. Thomas Building Fund in memory of Anna. Since we did not have a meeting in July and as this was our annual eating out social, no minutes were read. Treasurer Jo Ann Wilcox gave the financial report which was accepted as presented. Our eating out social in July at Golden Corral was most enjoyable and fun. The food was exceptionally fresh, hot, and good. Thanks to the Friendship Club for treating all of us. It was nice to have Lydia Alholm attend; we have missed her. Lola discussed future programs and said she could possibly get someone to come speak to us from the Alzheimer’s Association on how to detect early symptoms. It was voted for her to get this person for the September meeting. The theme for September will be sunflowers. Lola also stated she knows someone that impersonates Elvis and would try to get him for the October (Halloween) meeting. For November, Lola said she would bring supplies, and we would all learn to make Christmas ornaments. It sounds like we will have some interesting and fun times in the next few months. Libbie reported Camille Bolcer called her and asked that she stop by. Camille will be 100 years young in

December, and she still sews. Currently, she is making a quilt for a priest. She gave me a cloth potholdertype square that you put your bowl in the middle of in the microwave; when you take it out, your fingers won’t get burned. I told her how clever this is and that I would take it to Ennis Sewing Circle for show-and-tell so she gave me two more – one for the Friendship Club, and one for me to take to Ennis Sewing Circle. We had a drawing, and Rose Ann Spann was the lucky winner. I use mine all the time. Thanks, Camille! Pat, daughter of Mary Agnes Ward, was the first winner of the 50/50 dollar game, and Stanley Krenek was the second winner. We had no door prizes. Congratulations! The singing of “Happy Birthday” went out to August celebrants - Pat McWilliams, Margaret Sears, and Betty Krenek. May you all have many more. We were supposed to bring food items in August for St. Thomas Food Pantry, and if you were like me - I forgot. I had gotten my items early and failed to set them out. So if you were one of those who forgot, bring them to the September meeting as they will still be appreciated. Our Guidelines state that any changes, additions, or deletions to the Guidelines will be voted on at the September meeting so be prepared to present them at this meeting.

August hostesses Elizabeth Creamer, Mary Agnes Ward and her niece, and all the other helpers were thanked for their good services. Hostesses for September will be Lupe Esparza and Carolyn Irby. Following the meeting, grace was said, and a great lunch of fried chicken, pork loin, mashed potatoes, and gravy plus all the other great side dishes were enjoyed by all. We do have some great cooks in our group. Games were then played, and a good time was had by all.

News This week, I went to attend the monthly Ennis Sewing Circle meeting and on the way out of town, I stopped by Legend Oaks Center in Ennis to visit Marie Vrla who is in rehab. We had a nice visit; she is always so funny. I’ve known Marie (Kostak) Vrla since attending gym classes at Sokol Ennis in our younger days. We had lots of good times especially traveling to Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and Corpus Christi to attend district Slets. I have to say, we didn’t do the routines the Olympian women do these days as seen on television. They are unbelievable and fantastic. While there, I heard that Vivian (Jurica) Vrana, an old friend from our younger days, was there in rehab so I stopped in to say hello. In our visit, she asked me if I knew Kitty Rippin and said that she is an old friend. I asked her how

she knows Kitty since Kitty lives in Haltom City, and Vivian has always lived in Ennis. Vivian said they were dancing friends. Today, I called Kitty, and she was so glad to hear about Vivian and said that she and her late husband George, and Vivian and her late husband Johnny always would meet each other at various dance halls especially when a good Czech band was playing. Kitty went on to say that she and her husband were one of the original members to organize and build the SPJST hall in Burleson which has since been sold. Kitty said that she doesn’t drive anymore and is unable to come to our Friendship Club meetings as she doesn’t have transportation. It was so nice to see Vivian and to talk with Kitty. While at Legend Oaks, I saw Emily

But going a bit deeper, both my parents lost their dads when they were teenagers, and neither had any life insurance. My mom was one of five kids, and remembers that her mom had to sell most of the farm off as a result. When my sister and I came along, my parents got life insurance. They wanted to make sure, based on their experience, that we would be taken care of if something happened to them. That certainly stuck with me.

3 People might be thinking, “Well,

I’ll never be racing at Talladega. I don’t need life insurance.” Granted, my situation is unique. Most people don’t drive race cars for a living, so I think it’s probably easy for them to put off getting life insurance. You think you have time. You’re not expecting anything to happen, but it can. A good friend of mine in racing just lost his car chief to a heart attack at 34 years old. That’s crazy. Bad things can happen. That’s just life. And that’s why life insurance is just an easy and smart way to eliminate a risk from your life. I also think there’s a misconception that only the primary breadwinner needs life insurance. The other partner may be doing the cooking and cleaning, running the kids around and all sorts of things that help the family operate. If something happens to them, those things still need to be done, and

(Juricek) Harrison sitting in the lobby. Emily’s parents lived and worked our Grandpa Vrla’s farm in Bardwell, which was next to our farm, many years ago. Emily used to come to the Sewing Circle, and it was so nice to see her again. She certainly was elegantly dressed sitting in her wheelchair. And then, there was Gerry (Jaresh) Holubar playing cards with a group. I knew her through her younger sister Carolyn Hejny and their aunt and uncle Julia and Louis Macalik, who lived on a farm next to ours in Bardwell. She was as beautiful as always, and was so nice to see her, too. I am writing about these old friends as all said they read my articles in the Věstník, and I just thought they would like to see their names in print. I heard through Henrietta Milan

there might not be enough time in the day for the other half to take care of those things or the money to hire someone to do it. So it’s smart for both to have life insurance.

4 What’s it like to be a woman in a

male- dominated sport? It’s challenging to answer that because that’s all I’ve ever been, but what does it mean? It means anything is possible. It means you’re only as good as your goals and your aspirations. So, shoot for the stars and land on the moon! That’s my plan.

5 We all want to know what you’re

like behind the wheel when you’re just driving down the road. Well, I have to admit, I’m pretty aggressive on the regular road. I’ve been told I need to take that aggression from the road to the racetrack more often. So I’m practicing that! It’ll pay off a lot better in my job.

6 Any parting advice?

When it comes to life insurance, think about it this way: If you were to pass away, it’s going to be awful for those left behind. There are people who are going to mourn and suffer— perhaps financially as well, and whatever you can do to make that transition as easy as possible is the kind thing to do, the unselfish thing to do.

So his address is 9136 Oldwest Trail, Fort Worth, Texas 76131. Hopefully, some of his friends will send him a card. Joe is the younger brother of the late Sid Pokladnik, former SPJST District Three Director. Joe said that he had a piano and no one wanted it, and Michelle has a music room in their new house so they moved the piano to Fort Worth, and he is taking piano lessons. Good for you, Joe! I know Joe through Dallas Sokol and in his early days, he was a very good gymnast. He, too, always tells me that he reads my Věstník articles. So, to all my readers - thanks! Lydia Alholm made her monthly trip on the Wellington bus to WinStar, and I hear she was a big winner. Notebook

Treasured Crowning Moment

The past few weeks have yet to sink in for me. Only a while ago, I was rushing to memorize and nervously practicing questions for State Royalty, and now I’m trying to figure out ways to keep my crown from falling off my head. I am so proud to be representing District Seven as the first State Queen we’ve had since 1986, and to be holding a title that I’ve been working hard to get for four years. Now, there is video evidence of me crying on Facebook, but I couldn’t be happier. Being able to make my Duchess Rileigh Kitchen proud of me was the best gift

I’ve received from this crown. I’m so excited to represent SPJST for the 2016 to 2017 year. To Colby, J. Beaux, and the King’s family, we’re going to all have a great time this year. I’m excited to grow close to you all this year. I’m a wild one so you’ll have to get used to me and my weird sense of humor. Thank you for this really amazing opportunity. I’m going to treasure every moment. Fraternally, Amanda Hoggard State Queen, 2016-2017 —SPJST—

District Two hosts Youth Achievement Day

A wonderful and exciting day was held for our youth on Saturday, July 9, 2016. Thank you to all the youth members who participated in District Two Youth Achievement Day at Lodge 47, Seaton. Members, family, friends, and guests, you were a tremendous audience. Your attendance showed the love and support you have for our youth. Thank you to Lodge 47 for your kind hospitality and effort to make this a comfortable day for everyone. We appreciate the many ways you made this day run smoothly and enjoyable for all of us. Our youth prepared more than 250 crafts, individual talent, group talent, royalty, posters, and scrapbooks entries and three beseda circles for our enjoyment. It is great to see the talent and skills our youth have. I must say our youth are very dedicated as are their leaders and parents. I thank each of you for your time and dedicated involvement in the SPJST Youth Program. We are very proud and honored to have each of you in District Two. The program began with the presentation of flags by District Two Flag Bearers James Teague of Lodge 20, Granger and Tyson Bilbrey of Lodge 47, Seaton. District Two Fraternal Activities Coordinator and Lodge 47, Seaton member Ruth Hanusch sang the “Star Spangled Banner.” Thank you, Ruth, for sharing your beautiful voice. Introductions of special guests included SPJST President Brian Vanicek, SPJST Vice President Hiram Dixon, Vestnik Editor/Director of Communication Melanie Zavodny and husband David Nauert, District Two Director Jesse Pospisil and wife Linda, State FAC Frank Horak and wife Connie, Districts One/Two/Three Fraternal Field Manager Philip McBee, District Three Director John Engelke and wife Diana, and Honorary SPJST Vice President Gene McBride and wife Frances. Lodge 47 Vice President Brandon Bartek gave a warm welcome to all attending. I was very pleased to introduce our three groups of District Two Beseda Dancers who entertained us with their dance. We have one group who are young beginners, and they did awesome in making their first public appearance. Thank you, Melanie

Regan, for your time in teaching and practicing with the dancers. A meal was served prior to the royalty competition which began at 12:15 p.m. I thank each of you for your patience and understanding with the

dilemma of not having enough food. Please know this was not a fault of Lodge 47. It was strictly a fault of the establishment who catered the meal by not bringing enough food. The corporate office apologized profusely for its

First Runner-up Queen Alexis Festa introduced the contestants, dukes, duchesses, and parents. The audience was asked to stand and honor our reigning 2015-2016 SPJST State/District Two King Brady Alexander and Duke Seth Martinez, both of Lodge 47, Seaton, and SPJST State/District Two Queen Kacie Vanecek and Duchess Makayla Newsom, both of Lodge 48, Beyersville, as they made their way to the stage. King Brady and Queen Kacie emceed the Royalty competition. Four beautiful, young ladies - Dannikka Bartek (47), Kayla Wuensche (48), Kyndall Carroll (47), and Zoe Talasek (47) - along with our three handsome, young men - Chase Alexander (47), Hunter Bartek (47), and Ryan Festa (47) - took the stage to share with the audience and judges what “Seeking the Treasures of SPJST “meant to them. Each contestant presented themselves and gave their speeches so well. I congratulate each of you. You are each winners! The interview of the dukes and duchesses was absolutely precious. Duchesses Tamryn Stock (47), Sarah Bosley (48), Kimora Davis (47), and Madison Roantes (47), and Dukes Kal-El Martinez (47), Erskine Jackson, (47) and Tyson Bilbrey (47) definitely put smiles on all faces. You never know what little ones will share with the world! The highlight of the afternoon came with the results of the announcement of the 2016-2017 District Two Royalty—King Hunter Bartek, Queen Zoe Talasek, Duke Jackson Erskine, and Duchess Madison Roantes, all of Lodge 47, Seaton. Congratulations! We look forward to your representing SPJST District Two! First runners-up were Kayla Wuensche (48) and Ryan Festa (47). I am so very proud our 2015-2016 District Two/State Royalty Court— King Brady Alexander, Queen Kacie Vanecek, Duke Seth Martinez, and Duchess Makayla Newsom. Each of you have represented not only District Two but the entire state of Texas so well. You have all participated in so many functions far beyond what was expected of you. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making me so proud. I do hope that you, Brady and Kacie, will continue to be involved in your adult lodges when time allows. The best of luck to each of you. And, Seth and Makayla, I expect you to both follow the dreams Brady and Kacie had and become an SPJST

Lodge 88, Houston Youth Club Assists the Hungry

Lodge 88, Houston Youth Club collected beans and rice for the statewide food drive along with other canned goods. “We started our own food drive before the beans and rice and had voted to match $1 per item as well and send money, too,” Youth Club Vice President Keith Wockenfuss says. “The Star of Hope came and picked up all the food, and we sent $250 to the Houston Food Bank. Both places then were able to get some help from us. This was a good charity project because there are always people hungry and in need.”

State King and Queen in the future. I know you can both do it! Crafts, individual talent, group talent, beseda circles, merit point winners, scrapbook, and posters were all awesome. What talent you all have! All participants – whether you took home a ribbon or not, remember, in the book of District Two, you are all winners! I am so proud of each of you! You have made so many proud of you: your family, leaders, and friends. You deserve to give yourself a pat on your back. Thank you to the many of you who bid on the dessert bars. Proceeds of $496 will be donated to SPJST Education and Nature Center. A big thank you to everyone who made this day possible. You are an awesome group of young people. Lodge 47, Seaton youth reports on SPJST  summer of fun

Dear Vestnik, This summer has been very exciting. In June, we had Leaders-in-Training (LIT) camp where we got to meet many other LITs from all over the state. This lead up to what happened in July. In July, we had District Two Youth Achievement Day (YAD) which was very successful. We had many entries of craft, talent, and royalty. It was a lot of fun to compete in. Beseda even danced for everyone despite the minor technical difficulties. We also had SPJST Camp for Districts Two and Six. It was four days of fun for both districts. At the end of camp, Patsy and Lisa announced that we would arrive a day earlier next summer so that we could have more time to experience the “treasures” of camp and SPJST. I guess that means more time for dexterity checks, right? August isn’t over yet, but a lot has already happened. We just had State YAD, and it was fantastic! People from every district came to compete, myself included. Although I didn’t place, it was awesome getting to see friends that I only get to see once or twice a year. In other news for August, the Corpus Christi Get Away is about to happen. Many families have been waiting all year to go down to the beach. And who can forget about working with your lodge to help create a sand sculpture for the annual sand sculpture competition? I know tons of families are looking forward to that. It’s been a very eventful summer, and I can’t believe it’s almost over! Hopefully, the coming school year will be even better. Fraternally, Katelyn Erskine, Reporter —SPJST—

Czech Grape Harvest Festivals Celebrate Autumn

In addition to world-famous beer, the Czech Republic also houses another gourmet treasure - delicious wine. Winemakers initiate the annual harvest at traditional autumn festivities. A picturesque country with vineyards, distinctive cellars with friendly service and typical Czech wine varieties, which include, for example, the intensely floral Cabernet Moravia, the ruby colored Lemberge, aromatic Pálava from Moravia or the Neronet with hints of black currant and cherry, cultivated in Bohemia. This is another face of the Czech Republic, which will enchant many a lover of wine. Winegrowing has a long tradition here, and reached its greatest expansion in the 17th century, when about 35,000 hectares of vineyards were planted. Today, you can taste wines mainly from Southern Moravia (the region of Znojmo, Velké Pavlovice, Mikulov or Slovácko), although the capital city of Prague, Litoměřice and Mělník also have their own production. The cele-

VĚSTNÍK

bration of a rich grape harvest definitely needs to include young wine. Autumn in the Czech Republic is traditionally combined with the launch and celebration of the grape harvest, when the first grapes of the new harvest are pressed. Besides the tasting, the grape harvest festivals also include grand, historical parades, folk dances and craft workshops. The drink that must be present at any grape harvest festival is young wine. The fermenting grape must is produced as an intermediate in the production of wine, where the sugar and alcohol are roughly in balance. However, you can only drink it for a few days after the start of fermentation, and it is necessary to let air out of the bottle into which the young wine is poured throughout the day. In the Czech capital, you will be able to enjoy the grape harvest festivals directly in the interiors and gardens of Prague Castle. The tasting of Czech and Moravian wines will be pleasantly accompanied by dulcimer music and demonstrations of traditional crafts. The selection of Prague Castle is not random: it is precisely here, in fact, where one of the finest and oldest vineyards in Bohemia, whose origins date back to the 10th century, can be found.

riving race cars for a living means going 200 miles an hour around a track with concrete walls. I know the risks, which is why I’ve had life insurance since the start of my career. But that’s not the only reason I own it.

But so many people are taking an unneccessary risk by not protecting their families with that financial safety net. It means your loved ones would suffer financially if something happened to you.

As teenagers, both my parents lost their fathers. Neither had life insurance. My mom was one of five kids, and remembers her mom having to sell off most of the family farm as a result. So my parents made sure they had coverage to take care of my sister and me in case something happened to them.

It’s time to protect your family’s financial future. Get life insurance. It’s affordable; it’s doable and it’s the right thing to do for your family. For help, go to www.lifehappens.org. Let’s get it done.
