In Memory of Gearldeen Faust In Memoriam

In Memory of James “Jim” Schroeder

Geraldean “Gearldeen” (Moses) Faust, 86, of Kyle, Texas, and formerly of Muldoon, joined her husband and the love of her life, Sam Faust, at the Lord’s side on Friday, June 10, 2022.

Family and friends gathered from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 23 at Marrs Jones Fu- Gearldeen Faust neral Home in Smithville. The celebration of Gearldeen’s life was at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 24 at Kenedy Cemetery in Kenedy.

Born to Bill and Emma Lue Moses on September 6, 1935, in their family home in Bee County, Gearldeen loved to share stories of her upbringing. She would often talk about her late husband, Sam, and how he so sweetly courted her before their marriage in May 1954. She worked at the VA for many years and was proud of her education, business, and career. She was a humble, kind, and generous soul known well for her devotion to her family and God.

Gearldeen was a woman of an older time. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, and she firmly believed if something’s broke, you fix it. She experienced many challenges and loss throughout her life but stood strong and brave. Gearldeen cherished every minute she was able to spend with her family and never let anyone go hungry. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandma with an unforgettable voice and a love of football and sweets.

She was a member of SPJST Lodge 38, Kovar.

Gearldeen is survived by grandchildren Samuel and Laurel Faust, Tome and Sarah Johnson, Hunter and Lissett Johnson, and Brandi Faust; in-laws Bobby and Gay Faust; and great-grandchildren Zella, Lillian, and Leon. —SPJST—

James Edgar Schroeder, 72, of Anderson, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior after a courageous battle with leukemia. James lost his fight on Thursday, August 11, 2022, after a short hospital stay at CHI St. Luke’s Hospital Medical Center in Houston sur- Jim Schroeder rounded by his loving family.

Visitation was Monday, August 15 at University Heights Baptist Church in Huntsville from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service was Tuesday, August 16 at University Heights Baptist Church in Huntsville at 10 a.m. under the direction of Dr. Richard Rogers. Burial was at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Anderson at 2 p.m.

James was born in Navasota on Thanksgiving Day - November 24, 1949, to George Herman and Emma Louise (Becker) Schroeder. He was confirmed in the Christian faith at Zion Lutheran Church of Anderson and was baptized as an adult at University Heights Baptist Church in Huntsville.

James graduated from Anderson High School in 1968. He attended Blinn College and Sam Houston State University where he graduated in December 1973 with a teaching degree. James then went on to obtain his master’s degree in education from Prairie View A&M University. He had a great impact on many throughout his teaching and coaching career, also while serving as a principal and assistant principal within the Coldspring, Anderson, and Willis Independent School Districts.

After retirement, James’ love of people and his desire to serve others led him back to selling insurance. At the time of his death, James was the regional general agent (RGA) for Districts One and Two in SPJST.

James married his high school sweetheart, Carol Lynn Smith, at the Shiro Baptist Church on May 22, 1971. Together, they built a life and raised their three children—sons Michael Chad and Ryan Keith and daughter Shelby Elizabeth. James loved spending quality time with each of his children. He was able to instill the importance of family, a sense of integrity, a good work ethic, and a love for God to his children. He was a proud dad!

James was an even prouder Popo to his grandchildren. He loved each for their own personality. He enjoyed the smallest things beginning with rocking them to sleep, listening to their day, playing cards, cuddling, watching their sporting events, and especially the “I love yous.”

James was a disciple for God. He drove the golf cart at both UHBC and Brazos Fellowship for many years. He never missed an opportunity to invite others to church and even unbeknownst to the pastors, their sermon began and ended on his golf cart. James loved people, and he loved the Lord.

He was a member of SPJST Lodge 189, Bryan-College Station.

James is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol Lynn Schroeder; son Michael Schroeder (wife Linda) and children Shelby, Kelsey, Hayden, and Emily; son Ryan Schroeder (wife Angela) and children Erick, Marse, Cole, Christian, and Ryan Grace; daughter Shelby Gilbert and children Emmalyn and Elizabeth; mother-in-law Dorris Carrell; brother-in-law Larry Lehew; sisters-in-law Betty Schroeder and D’Lynn Lehew; and nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that he dearly loved and cherished.
