WHAT ARE ANZ TENNIS HOT SHOTS LEAGUES? ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Leagues provide children with a quality first competitive team tennis experience. We understand and respect how important the role of the tennis club/centre is for the development of young tennis players, for the ongoing engagement of families and the significant platform they play (in conjunction with associations) in offering competitive team tennis opportunities.

Orange Ball League, and

Green Ball League

The format of the leagues is vital for the successful transition of ANZ Tennis Hot Shots participants to competitive team tennis. Competition is closely linked to the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots program. For example, use of modified balls and courts. Time friendly for families who want a start time and finish within 75 minutes similar to soccer and basketball, so they can maximize their weekends. “A GREAT EXPERIENCE = A GREAT OUTCOME FOR ALL” Having a great competitive experience at their local club/centre, relevant to their age and standard, is key to children falling 2

Orange Ball League (6 to 10 year olds) The Orange Ball Leagues are aimed at children who are beginning to play the sport and have developed an understanding of tennis through ANZ Tennis Hot Shots coaching, Community Play or at school. All players are between the ages on six to ten years at the commencement of the season. Green Ball League (9 to 12 year olds) The Green Ball Leagues are aimed at children who have some experience in playing the sport and are participating regularly in ANZ Tennis Hot Shots coaching, Community Play or tennis at school, or have progressed from an Orange Ball League. All players are aged between nine and twelve years of age at the commencement of the season. What’s the format? •

The format is as follows:

Two player, three player and four player team formats will be offered.

Matches are scored first to four games with no-ad scoring at deuce.

If the players are tied at 3-3, the next game will determine the winner.

The winning team will be determined solely by the number of games won – the team with the higher number of games won will be declared the winner. 3

How long do the seasons run? ANZ Hot Shots Leagues run for approx. 5 to 7 weeks and follow the school terms.

Scores and Results Scores will be entered into the Tennis Australia Competition results, which can be viewed online as well as in the Sporsci Tennis Academy website or Club Websites, under the competition season. Trophies will be awarded to the winning teams in each division with various on the spot awards presented throughout the season. All players will receive a participation medal and a certificate for playing in the leagues.
