I began rowing at age 14yrs having switched from athletics. Although excelling at middle distance running I wanted to try something new. As I live close to the Upper region of the River Thames, the rowing Capital of Europe, I joined Maidenhead Junior Rowing Club, where I knew instantly this was the sport for me. Rowing is addictive and has become more than just sport but a way of life. I train most days (9 times a week) and successfully fit this level of commitment around my academic studies. As the squads Junior Captain I have enjoyed success at a number of National and International events, securing 11th place in the J16 single scull events at both National Schools Championships and the British Junior Championships in 2015. This is a significant & consistent achievement of which I am very proud, punching above my weight in a large field of much heavier scullers. I have great tenacity and determination to succeed at rowing and proven ability in moving a boat efficiently through the water. I would welcome an opportunity to further develop my rowing skills at a US college as part of a lightweight crew. The opportunities for a lightweight rower in the US college system is something that very much appeals to me and believe the facilities and coaching offered would help me meet my goals of succeeding at the highest level possible.
