MATCH PREVIEW The Swope Park Rangers and Loudoun United FC will square off for the first time Wednesday night at worldclass Children’s Mercy Park. Led by second-year head coach Paulo Nagamura, the Rangers most recently suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Eastern Conference leaders Tampa Bay Rowdies on May 25. The loss capped a stretch of three games in seven days for SPR, who are unbeaten in three consecutive home matches. The stretch includes a 3-2 victory over defending USL Cup champion Louisville City FC and hard-earned ties against Atlanta United 2 and Memphis 901 FC. Ryan Martin was named Loudoun United FC’s head coach last week, and Wednesday will mark his first game at the helm of the D.C. United USL Championship affiliate. Martin, who previously served as D.C.’s academy director, will rely on multiple United Homegrown Players (Donovan Pines, Griffin Yow and Antonio Bustamante) and academy products such as Jack Villatoro, Alexxon Saravia, Bryang Kayo and Kyle Davis during the club’s inaugural season. Loudoun haven’t played since falling 2-1 to last-place Hartford Athletic on May 19. Kyle Murphy leads the side with three goals.
