MATCH PREVIEW The Swope Park Rangers (2-9-6, 12 points) will kick off the second half of their 2019 USL Championship campaign on Wednesday night, hosting Hartford Athletic (3-12-4, 13 points) in an Eastern Conference clash at world-class Children’s Mercy Park. Led by second-year head coach Paulo Nagamura, the Rangers were off last weekend and will be looking to bounce back from a 3-1 defeat sustained to tabletopping Tampa Bay Rowdies on July 7. Sporting Kansas City Academy product Felipe Hernandez leads SPR with seven goals, while Brazilian left back Alexsander has tallied a team-best five assists. On the opposite sideline, expansion side Hartford Athletic will visit Kansas City for the first time, setting up a reunion of sorts with former Sporting Kansas City great Jimmy Nielsen. The longtime goalkeeper is now the head coach of Hartford, having led the side to a 2-1 home win over Indy Eleven on Saturday night. The result lifted Hartford off the foot of the Eastern Conference table and saw Jose Angulo and Wojciech Wojcik find the back of the net in the second half. Ayoza Garcia would bag a late consolation penalty for the visitors, but Nielsen’s side saw out a well-earned victory at Dillon Stadium.
