Townsend was selected in the Third Round of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft by Sporting KC and spent the first portion of preseason with the first team before joining Sporting II when the USL Championship side’s preseason began in early February. Townsend started 42 of 75 career appearances in four seasons at the University of Washington from 20162019, helping the Huskies reach the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship last month. The midfielder’s standout senior campaign was highlighted by a career-best seven goals, including two in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
Wapiwo rose through the ranks at Apejes FC de Mfou in his native Cameroon before joining MFK Vyskov in early 2019. He spent 2019 on loan from MFK Vyskov in the USL Championship with North Carolina FC, making five appearances for the club in the regular season and two in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. He joined Sporting Kansas City II ahead of the 2020 campaign.
