GAME NOTES CROSSSTATE RIVALS Saturday's game marks the first time that the Swope Park Rangers and Saint Louis FC have met, although the latter did face Sporting Kansas City in the U.S. Open Cup in 2015 with Sporting KC prevailing 10 at Children's Mercy Park. The 2016 USL season also marks the first time that Missouri has seen two outdoor soccer teams playing in the same league since 1970, when the old NASL's Kansas City Spurs and St. Louis Stars last met before the Spurs folded. Kansas City had a 732 record against St. Louis between 1968 and 1970. The Rangers and Saint Louis FC will meet three more times this season, with SPR hosting Saint Louis on July 2 before returning to WWT Soccer Park on Aug. 3 and finishing up the season series in KC on Aug. 21. BACK ON THE ROAD Fresh off of playing their first home game in a month against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 last Wednesday, the Swope Park Rangers are back on the road this weekend to take on Saint Louis FC. The Rangers recently played their first three away games of the season in a threegame road swing, going 111. Saint Louis FC are 001 at WWT Soccer Park so far this season, and went 464 at home in 2015 and had a marginally better 455 record on the road last season. TYRPAK GETS HIS FIRST Swope Park Rangers forward Kris Tyrpak notched his first goal of the season in the 21 defeat to Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 last Wednesday. The 24yearold scored nine goals for the Austin Aztex last season and came close in the Rangers' early games of the season, but a composed finish against Whitecaps FC 2 goalkeeper Spencer Richey finally saw him open his account in SPR's fifth game of the season. Every listed forward on the Rangers roster has now either scored or assisted a goal in 2016: Daniel Salloi (2G, 2A), Dane Kelly (1G, 0A), Nansel Selbol (1G, 0A), Kris Tyrpak (1G, 0A) and Mark Anthony Gonzalez (0G, 1A). SALLOI LEADS FROM THE FRONT After recording an assist on Kris Tyrpak's goal against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 last Wednesday, Daniel Salloi now leads the team in both goals (2) and assists (2). The Hungarian is averaging a goal or assist every 38 minutes this season, which is the best average of all players in the USL that have contributed to four or more goals, with LA Galaxy II's Jack McBean (9G, 1A) the closest challenger with a goal or assist every 62 minutes. Salloi, 19, is also the youngest player and only teenager to have contributed to four or more goals this season. The only other MLS Homegrown player to contribute to four or more goals is New York Red Bulls II's Brandon Allen (3G, 1A), who is averaging a goal or assist every 134 minutes. KEMPIN MAKING THE MOST OF HIS MINUTES Swope Park Rangers goalkeeper Jon Kempin joined the club on loan from Sporting Kansas City at the start of the USL season and has started

all five games so far this season, posting a 1.20 goals against average while the Leawood, Kan. native is tied for 10th in the USL in saves with 17. Kempin made a seasonhigh six saves in the 11 tie with San Antonio FC on April 9 which led to USL Team of the Week honors. Last Wednesday's 21 loss to Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 was the first time this season that Kempin had conceded more than one goal in a game. PRODUCTION FROM OVERSEAS TALENT The Swope Park Rangers have scored six goals in 2016, with five coming from the feet of overseas players. Kevin Oliveira (Cape Verde) scored the team's firstever goal while Daniel Salloi (Hungary) is the side's leading scorer with two goals. The other three strikes have come from Dane Kelly (Jamaica), Nansel Selbol (Nigeria) and American Kris Tyrpak. Mark Anthony Gonzalez (Canada) is the only other player from North America to have contributed to a goal this season after notching an assist in the season opener, while Oliveira has one assist and Salloi leads the team with two. YOUNGSTERS ON THE SCORESHEET So far in the 2016 season, 17 players under the age of 20 have scored goals in the USL. Of those 17 players, three play for the Swope Park Rangers the highest number of teenage goalscorers out of all 29 teams in the league. Kevin Oliveira (19) scored the club's firstever goal, while Daniel Salloi (19) leads the team with two strikes and Nansel Selbol (18) has also found the net for the Rangers. LA Galaxy II, New York Red Bulls II, Bethlehem Steel FC and Portland Timbers 2 are tied for second in the league with two teenage goalscorers each. The youngest goalscorer this season is FC Montreal's Ballou Jean Yves Tabla, who turned 17 at the end of March. The Rangers also have the highest number of goals contributed from teenagers with four, one ahead of Bethlehem Steel FC who have seen three goals scored by teens. YOUTHFUL SQUAD The average age of the Swope Park Rangers squad is 22.4, which is the sixth lowest in the 29team league. The roster includes six teenagers in Ezra Armstrong (17), Will Little (18), Nansel Selbol (18), Steven Tekesky (18), Kevin Oliveira (19) and Daniel Salloi (19), while the oldest players on the squad are Zac Lubin and Tommy Meyer, both 26. The leaguewide average age is 24.2, with FC Montreal boasting the youngest team with a mean of 21.4 while the Colorado Springs Switchbacks are the oldest with an average age of 26.6. Saturday's opponents Saint Louis FC are tied for the third oldest team in the league with an average age of 26.2. The youngest 12 teams are all either owned or operated by a MLS team.

GAME NOTES CONT. USL EXPANSION SEASON The 2016 campaign is the Swope Park Rangers' USL expansion season. For the eight MLSowned USL teams that entered the league prior to the Rangers, only three qualified for the postseason in their initial attempt. LA Galaxy II made it to the semifinals in 2014 while New York Red Bulls II advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals and Seattle Sounders FC 2 were eliminated in the Western Conference First Round in 2015. FC Montreal, Portland Timbers 2, Real Monarchs, Toronto FC II and Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 did not qualify for the USL Playoffs in their inaugural season in 2015. In their expansion season in 2015, Saint Louis FC posted a 8119 record and missed out on the postseason by eight points. CANADIAN CONNECTION There is a distinct Canadian influence on this Swope Park Rangers team, with six players and staff connected to our neighbors up north. On the playing side, Amer Didic (Edmonton, Alberta), Mark Anthony Gonzalez (Bolton, Ontario), Johnny Grant (Toronto, Ontario) and Tyler Pasher (Elmira, Ontario) all hail from Canada, while head coach Marc Dos Santos was born in Montreal and began his coaching career with the Impact in 2007. In addition, goalkeeper coach Alec Dufty spent the 2015 season in the USL coaching with Toronto FC II.

Oumar Ballo drafted by the Houston Dynamo in 2015 and Christian Duke spending the 2013 and 2014 seasons with Sporting KC. INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR There are nine members of the Swope Park Rangers that were born outside of the U.S. and Canada. Oumar Ballo (Mali), Amer Didic (Bosnia & Herzegovina), Tomas Granitto (El Salvador), Dane Kelly (Jamaica), Kevin Oliveira (Cape Verde), Jordi Quintilla (Spain), Daniel Salloi (Hungary), Nansel Selbol (Nigeria) and Ualefi (Brazil) were all born outside of North America and through different channels found their way to the Rangers. Each USL team is permitted seven Foreign Players on their roster, though the Rangers only occupy five with Oumar Ballo, Amer Didic and Tomas Granitto qualifying as domestic players.

POTENT STRIKEFORCE On Dec. 16, 2015 the Swope Park Rangers announced the signings of Dane Kelly and Kris Tyrpak, who combined for 20 goals in the USL regular season in 2015. Kelly is the USL's alltime leading scorer with 43 goals, 42 with the Charelston Battery, while Kris Tyrpak has scored goals in MLS, NASL, USL and USL PDL. In all competitions last season, Kelly (12) and Tyrpak (11) had 23 goals between them, while they have one goal each so far in 2016. Last season, Saint Louis was led by Mike Ambersley, Bryan Gaul, Jamiel Hardware and USL EXPERIENCE Of the 23 players on the Swope Park Rangers' current roster, nine have Jeremie Lynch, who each had four goals apiece in 2015. previously played in the USL. Kris Tyrpak spent the 2015 season with the Austin of preseason with the team. Armstrong and Little both relocated to Aztex, scoring nine goals for his hometown club. GAME NOTES CONT. CAPTAIN DUKE On Wednesday, March 23, the Swope Park Rangers' firstever signing Christian Duke was named captain of the club ahead of the season opener. Duke is an Overland Park, Kan. native that came through Sporting KC's Academy before enjoying a fouryear college career at the University of San Diego. He was selected by Sporting KC in the 2013 Supplemental Draft but did not make an appearance, instead spending time on loan at OKC Energy FC before joining the club permanently in 2015. So far this season, Duke has played every minute at left back. LOCAL PRESENCE IN THE SQUAD While there are three players on the Swope Park Rangers roster who are directly from the Kansas City area, five more have connections to the city. Christian Duke (Overland Park, Kan.), Jon Kempin (Leawood, Kan.) and Steven Tekesky (Raymore, Mo.) were all raised in the

region, while Ezra Armstrong, Will Little, Daniel Salloi and Nansel Selbol all entered the club through the Sporting KC Academy despite not being natives of the area. In addition, center back Tommy Meyer is from St. Louis, Mo. and returns to his home state after spending eight years away. CONNECTED TO SWOPE PARK The team name, "Swope Park Rangers", is a moniker that stems from the days of the old MLS Reserve League. Sporting Kansas City's reserve side would play games at Swope Soccer Village at Swope Park, and fans who followed the side coined the name Swope Park Rangers in reference to the team. The name was never used through official club channels until October 22, 2015, when Sporting Club introduced the Swope Park Rangers as the club's new USL side. The club will play the majority of it's home games at Children's Mercy Victory Field at Swope Soccer Village.
