LA GALAXY vs SPORTING KANSAS CITY THE HOME DEPOT CENTER, Carson, Calif. 7:30 p.m. PT (FS-W; KSMO)

May 14, 2011 (WEEK 9; MLS Game 84)

The Sporting Kansas City road show returns to The Home Depot Center where they will take on the Western Conference-leading LA Galaxy on Saturday evening. Sporting return to action after a week off, their last match a 1-0 loss at the New York Red Bulls. The Galaxy return home after a quick cross-country trip, playing to a 1-1 draw Wednesday at Philadelphia Union. REFEREE: Baldomero Toledo. KC has won three of the five meetings since, with two draws.  The teams had played to three consecutive draws before KC won the second meeting last year.  Coaches record: Bruce Arena vs. KC: P18 W5 L8 D5 … Peter Vermes v LA: P2 W1 L0 D1 LA GALAXY The LA Galaxy once again played to a draw with a top club in the Eastern Conference, this time reaching a 1-1 result with Philadelphia Union on Wednesday evening at PPL Park. The Galaxy have 17 points from 11 games on the season, leading the Western Conference. LAST MATCH  The Galaxy took the lead in the 24th minute. After receiving a pass from Franklin, Landon Donovan backheeled it to a streaking Juan Pablo Angel. Angel momentarily lost control, but Donovan followed the play and pounced on the loose ball, drilling it past Union ’keeper Faryd Mondragón.  But Union pulled even in the 84th minute. Danny Mwanga broke his scoring drought when he picked off a back pass from Galaxy defender Sean Franklin, dribbled around goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts and deposited the ball into the back of the net for the leveller.  Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena made three changes to the team that played to a 1-1 draw with the New York Red Bulls at The Home Depot Center. Chris Birchall and Michael Stephens came into the midfield for Mike Magee and David Beckham, and Miguel Lopez started up top for Chad Barrett.  LA GALAXY (4-3-1-2): Donovan Ricketts - Sean Franklin, Omar Gonzalez, A.J. DeLaGarza, Todd Dunivant Chris Birchall, Juninho, Michael Stephens (Mike Magee 87) - Landon Donovan - Juan Pablo Angel (Chad Barrett 90), Miguel Lopez (Jovan Kirovski 83). TEAM NEWS  The Galaxy have now gone three games in a row without a victory, their longest stretch of the season, and longest in league play since Aug. 28-Sept. 4 of last year.  "We were well in control ..." Galaxy coach Bruce Arena said. "The result is very disappointing. We should have won this game by two or three goals. We missed a bunch of chances, the referee missed the penalty on the

goalkeeper, we had plenty of chances to get to 2-0. We made a mistake at the end, and it cost us a goal, but, having said that, we were certainly in position to score two or three goals. But it is disappointing." Landon Donovan has scored the last five goals for the Galaxy, over the last four games the club has played, and all have come since he missed three games with a knee injury. Donovan is the first Galaxy player to score five consecutive goals for the club since Edson Buddle scored LA’s first seven goals of the 2010 campaign. As well, Donovan now has 108 league goals for his career, now tied with Real Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis for fourth-most on the MLS all-time list. Next up: Ante Razov, last with Chivas USA, who had 114 goals in his MLS career. “It's being more assertive and more aggressive but the ball sometimes needs to fall your way, and then when you get your chances you just have to take them,” Donovan said. “(Against Philadelphia) one popped loose and I took it, but I’m being more aggressive and putting myself in spots where I can be dangerous and our forwards are doing a really good job of occupying defenders and giving me spots to make plays.” The Galaxy have allowed four goals in the final 15 minutes of matches, one off the most in MLS (D.C. United). Three of those have cost the Galaxy points – a 90th-minute equalizer by D.C. United on April 9, the 88thminute game-winner by FC Dallas on May 1, and the late Union leveler. "We were at fault for not scoring another goal," Donovan said. "Obviously, mistakes happen. It's part of the game. But we have had too many of those this year where we are giving away points cheaply." With the Galaxy facing a third game in a week with another cross-country flight involved, David Beckham did not make the trip to Philadelphia. He is still second in MLS with five assists on the season. “Playing two games like this is hard, and then, when you throw in six hours of travel, it makes it very difficult," Donovan said. "It is one aspect that some people don’t really understand. But our guys did a really good job finding the energy, and now we have even shorter rest for Saturday and another flight home, so we have to be ready.”

SPORTING KANSAS CITY Sporting Kansas City return to league play after a week off, their last match a 1-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena. Sporting have 4 points from 6 matches on the season, sitting in ninth place in the Eastern Conference. LAST MATCH  The Red Bulls had a glorious chance to take an early lead in the 13th minute when Dwayne De Rosario was adjudged to have been held back in the area by Sporting midfielder Stephane Auvray by referee Andrew Chapin. But SKC goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen dove to his left to parry Rafael Márquez’s attempt.  But the Red Bulls made no mistake in the 22nd minute. Thierry Henry flicked a quickly taken free kick into the path of De Rosario on the right flank. The Canadian international struck a low cross into the 6-yard box, where Luke Rodgers turned it past Nielsen.  SPORTING KANSAS CITY (4-1-4-1): Jimmy Nielsen - Michael Harrington, Aurelien Collin, Julio Cesar, Korede Aiyegbusi - Stephane Auvray (Milos Stojcev 64) - Kei Kamara, Davy Arnaud, Graham Zusi, C.J. Sapong (Ryan Smith 46) - Teal Bunbury  SKC boss Peter Vermes made four changes to the team that lost 3-2 to the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium. Julio Cesar, Korede Aiyegbusi, Stephane Auvray and Graham Zusi came into the team for Matt Besler, Roger Espinoza, Birahim Diop and Milos Stojcev. TEAM NEWS  After opening their 10-game road trip with a victory, Sporting are now winless in five games. The last team with an extended road swing to start the season – the Chicago Fire in 2006, while Toyota Park was being finished – started with two wins and four draws in nine games.  “It’s important that we win to get some confidence and to collect points so we don’t get too far behind the rest of the league,” Omar Bravo said. “We know that we have many games at home following these road games, but we can’t afford to leave points behind.”  With the suspension to Aurélien Collin overturned, he returned to a central defense spot alongside Julio César, with Matt Besler out of the lineup for the first time this season in league play.  “(It was) nothing earth-shattering, just a decision to go that way,” Vermes said. “He has played well. (Besler) coming out was not an indication of bad play. I like the way he’s progressing. I feel good that we now have a good contingency of central defenders so if someone does go down, we’ve got guys that can go in and play just as well.”  Vermes also made a tactical shift for the second half of the Red Bulls match, moving Davy Arnaud into a deeper-lying role in central midfield alongside Stephane Auvray, who was starting for a suspended Birahim Diop.  “We made an adjustment in the midfield in the second half by going to two and one instead of one and two,” Vermes said. “That really clogged up the middle on them, and created a different situation and the difference in the game.”

While there was some expectation Bravo could be ready for the Galaxy match – he called himself at 70 percent at the moment – Vermes indicated he is likely to take a cautious approach. “There’s a chance for him to be available this weekend,” Vermes said. “I kind of see it as a long shot. I see it more as Seattle would be the real opportunity. I’ve seen crazier things happen though. He moves well.” Bravo last played March 26 vs. Chicago, lasting just 32 minutes before he was sent off, after scoring twice in the season opener vs. Chivas USA. “I haven’t played in practically a month,” Bravo said. “My heart says yes, and my body says more or less. It’s important to play to get that rhythm for the game. Working toward the Galaxy game is a good chance for me to see where I stand.” After making his first appearance of the season against New England, Ryan Smith was able to play the entire second half against New York. “Smitty puts a different pressure on a team,” Vermes said. “Him coming in was a big spark for us.” Sporting also signed defender Seth Sinovic, who was released earlier this season by New England. A Leawood, Kan., native, Sinovic made 18 starts and appeared in 20 games for the Revolution in 2010, his rookie season. “He's played games in the league, and he has some good experience,” Vermes said. “We're glad to have him here, and he'll provide us with some needed depth.”

With the score tied 0-0, Donovan played the ball into the box for Juan Pablo Angel, who was able to shield his man off the ball and lay it into the path of Donovan, whose right-footed shot eluded Union goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon for his team-best fifth of the season and the 76th of his Galaxy career. Donovan currently ranks second in MLS with five goals, one fewer than the league-leader Charlie Davies of D.C. United.

FIRST TO FIVE: Despite being rested for the 1-1 draw in Philadelphia on Wednesday night, Galaxy midfielder David Beckham remains first on the club with five assists, one less than Houston’s Brad Davis, who lead MLS with six assists in nine games.

Donovan has now scored each of the Galaxy’s last five goals, dating back to the 3-0 win over Portland on April 23. Additionally, he assisted on Chad Barrett’s goal in the 4th minute of that game, meaning that he has factored in each of the Galaxy’s last six goals, dating back to the 2-1 win in Chicago on April 17, a game that Donovan missed because of inflammation in his right knee.

Of Beckham’s five assists, four have come on set pieces. Two have come from corner kicks and the other two came on freekicks. Only Chad Barrett’s fourth minute goal against Portland came from the run of play, with Beckham helping set up Chad Barrett for his second goal of the year.

The last Galaxy player to score five straight goals for the club is Edson Buddle, who scored each of LA’s first seven goals to open the 2010 season. Prior to his current streak, Donovan was the last Galaxy player to factor in six straight Galaxy goals, a feat that he during a three-game span at the start of May last year in which he scored once and assisted on five others. In his career against Kansas City, Donovan has 10 goals and 11 assists in 24 games, though he register a goal or an assist against them last season. Since joining the Galaxy in 2005, Donovan has played in all 12 games that the Galaxy have played against Kansas City, tallying four goals and nine assists while helping his team to a 5-2-5 record. LOSING POINTS LATE: Danny Mwanga’s 83rd minute goal was the fourth goal that the Galaxy had allowed this season in the final 10 minutes of a game. Of those four goals, three have ended up costing the Galaxy points with the team dropping a total of five points because of those three goals. On April 9, LA allowed a 90th minute penalty to Charlie Davies of D.C. United, which turned a 1-0 lead into a 1-1 draw. Then, on May 1, FC Dallas’ Brek Shea scored in the 88th minute of a game at Pizza Hut Park, turning a 1-1 draw into a 2-1 Galaxy loss. LA also allowed an 88th minute goal to the Fire’s Dominic Oduro, though the team was leading 2-0 at the time thus did not drop any points. Without allowing those goals, the Galaxy would have a 6-1-4 record for 22 points, which would put them seven points clear of Real Salt Lake at the top of the Western Conference standings. In all of 2010, the Galaxy allowed four goals in the final 10 minutes of games, with only one of those causing the Galaxy to drop points as Javier Morales scored in the 80th minute for RSL on June 9, turning a 0-0 draw into a 1-0 RSL win.

Beckham’s five assists are the second most of his MLS career, bested only by his 10 assists in 2008 when he played in a 25 games, which were also the most of his MLS career. The Galaxy are 2-1-2 in the five games this season that Beckham has tallied an assist in and 9-4-5 in his MLS career.

UNBEATEN AGAINST THE EAST: Saturday night’s game against Sporting will be the Galaxy’s eighth of 18 games that they are scheduled to play this season against the nine Eastern Conference teams in MLS. Including Saturday night’s game, seven of LA’s last nine games dating back to April 2 have been against Eastern Conference teams. This season, the Galaxy are 2-0-5 against the East for 11 of their leaguebest 17 points. Since the start of the 2009 season, the Galaxy have a 18-5-14 record against the East, going 8-1-5 in 2009 and 8-4-4 in 2010. ROAD WARRIORS: Wednesday night’s draw in Philadelphia was the Galaxy’s MLS-high seventh road game of the season with the Galaxy going 2-2-3 in those seven games. Nearly matching the Galaxy’s total is Sporting Kansas City, who have played six games so far this season with all six being played on the road. Kansas City will play their first 10 games on the road this season before moving into their new home, LIVESTRONG Sporting Park on June 9. The Galaxy had to endure a similar schedule in 2003 while awaiting the completion of construction of The Home Depot Center. That year, the Galaxy played their first eight games of the year on the road, going 0-4-4 before defeating Colorado 20 in the first-ever game at the stadium on June 7. IRONMAN DUNIVANT: After once again playing the full 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw in Philadelphia on Wednesday, Todd Dunivant remains the only Galaxy player to start every game this season for the club and play every minute of each. Dunivant has now played the full 90 minutes in all 11 of his team’s games this season, giving him a league-high 990 minutes played. In addition to Dunivant, only Chad Barrett and Sean Franklin have appeared in all 11 Galaxy games this season while those three, along with A.J. DeLaGarza, Frankie Hejduk, Mike Magee and Josh Saunders have been in the 18-man squad for all 11 games.

LA GALAXY GAME NOTES – May 14, 2011 FIRST CASTROL INDEX OUT: MLS released the first Castrol Index of the 2011 season on Thursday, consisting of all games played during March and April. The Castrol Index is a proprietary technology that objectively ranks a player’s performance. This innovative tool analyzes and tracks every players move, providing statistical data and insightful analysis to fans, players and coaches to enhance their engagement with the game. The Galaxy have two players that rank in the top 10 of the Index, with Omar Gonzalez, the top rated defender, at 9.04 coming in fourth while Donovan Ricketts is the top rated goalkeeper and seventh overall at 8.89. BERHALTER IN: Galaxy defender Gregg Berhalter made his debut in the club’s 18-man squad, though he did not play, in the 1-1 draw in Philadelphia on Wednesday. Berhalter had missed the first 10 games of the season while recovering from a sprained MCL in his left knee, an injury that he originally suffered in February during a preseason game against Vancouver at Arizona State University. The 37-year-old veteran defender made his first appearance for the club since his injury in the 3-1 Reserve League loss to Chivas USA on May 3. He replaced Dan Keat in the 59th minute of that game and played the final 31 minutes in central defense alongside Galaxy Academy defender Matthew Tilley. ALVARADO OUT: While the Galaxy welcomed Gregg Berhalter back to the field in the Reserve League defeat to Chivas USA, the club lost defender Sean Alvarado in that same game to a torn ACL in his right knee. Alvarado, who was signed in March, had started each of the Galaxy’s first two Reserve League games but did not dress for any of the club’s 10 regular season games. He was forced to leave the game th against Chivas USA in the 20 minute because of his injury and was replaced by Matthew Tilley. A graduate of UCLA, Alvarado was forced to redshirt his junior season with the Bruins after suffering a similar injury in 2007. He returned for the end of the 2008 season and then was a regular starter for the Bruins as a senior in 2009. A teammate of Brian Perk and Michael Stephens at UCLA, Alvarado trained in England with Tottenham Hotspur and with Chivas USA last year before training with the Galaxy this preseason, eventually signing a contract with the club the day before the season opener in Seattle. He is underwent successful surgery on Wednesday in Southern California. He is the second central defender that the Galaxy have lost to a knee injury this year with Leonardo tearing both the ACL and LCL in his right knee late in the 2-1 win in Chicago on April 17. He was placed on the club’s Season Ending Injury list on April 22 and underwent surgery a few days later. A decision to put Alvarado on the club’s Injured List will be made at a later date. THE COACHES: Bruce Arena became the seventh coach in Galaxy history when he was named the club’s general manager and head coach in August 2008. Since that time, he has compiled a 34-15-22 record with the club and leading them to a pair of first place finishes in the Western Conference. On the other bench will be Sporting manager Peter Vermes, who has a 15-23-10 record since replacing current Galaxy assistant coach Curt Onalfo as Kansas City’s head coach in August 2009.

Vermes, who retired from the U.S. National Team shortly before Arena became the U.S. head coach, has faced Arena and the Galaxy five times as a coach without ever losing. He is 2-0-3 in his career against LA, including a 2-0 win at The Home Depot Center last year, a win that was Kansas City’s first road win over the Galaxy since June 2004. MAN IN THE MIDDLE: For the first time this season, Baldomero Toledo will serve as the referee for a Galaxy game as he takes charge of Saturday night’s game against Sporting Kansas City. He will be assisted by Ian Anderson and Kevin Dubliba with Alejandro Mariscal serving as the fourth official. Toledo, who has been a referee in MLS since 2004, has been the referee for two Galaxy in each of the past four seasons, dating back to 2007. In those eight games, the Galaxy have a 5-2-1 record, including a 2-0-0 record at home. One of the eight Galaxy games that Toledo have officiated over since 2007, one was against Kansas City, a 1-0 Galaxy win on September 27, 2007 at Arrowhead Stadium. Gavin th Glinton scored the game-winning goal for LA in the 80 minute of that game while Kansas City had two players sent off. Toledo has sent off a total of six players in the last eight Galaxy games that he has refereed, with five being from the home team, though only one of his six red cards were shown to a Galaxy player. FOLLOWING THE SUPPORTERS’ SHIELD: The Galaxy won their third Supporters’ Shield in 2010, finishing with an MLSbest record of 18-7-5 for 59 points. LA are now tied with Columbus for the second most Supporters’ Shields in MLS history with three, one less than D.C. United. In 1999, after reaching their first Supporters’ Shield, the Galaxy finished first in the Western Conference with a 20-12 record and went on to reach MLS Cup. In 2003, after winning their second Supporters’ Shield and their first MLS Cup, LA finished fourth in the Western Conference with a 9-12-9 record before falling to San Jose in the Conference Semifinals. Since the trophy was first awarded, only two teams; D.C. United in 2006 and 2007 and Columbus in 2008 and 2009 have ever repeated as Supporters’ Shield winners. 12 NEW FACES: Of the 29 players currently on the Galaxy roster, 12 were not with the club at the end of the 2010 season. Going into the 2010 season, just five of the Galaxy’s 24 players had not been with the club at the end of the previous season. Juan Pablo Angel, Chad Barrett, Adam Cristman and Frankie Hejduk each joined the Galaxy from other MLS teams, with Angel being selected in Stage 2 of the MLS Re-Entry Process and the other three being acquired via trades. Paolo Cardozo and Hector Jimenez were taken in the MLS SuperDraft while Dan Keat, Ryan Thomas and Dustin McCarty were taken in the Supplemental Draft. Miguel Lopez was signed on loan from Quilmes of Argentina’s Primera Division and Jack McBean was signed from the Galaxy Academy as a Home Grown Player in late January. Just before the season opener in Seattle, LA added former UCLA defender Sean Alvarado. Those 12 players replaced a group of seven players who are no longer with the club. Tristan Bowen was traded to Chivas USA, Edson Buddle signed with FC Ingolstadt of the German Bundesliga 2, Alex Cazumba and Yohance Marshall did not have their options picked up while Chris Klein, Dema Kovalenko and Eddie Lewis each retired.

SPORTING KANSAS CITY HEADLINES

Kansas City earned a 2-0 road victory over the Galaxy on August 28th, 2010 at The Home Depot Center. KC captain Davy Arnaud scored the game-winning goal in the 12th minute on an assist from striker Kei Kamara and defender Jimmy Conrad added an insurance tally in the 70th minute off a free kick from Arnaud. KC goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen, a 2010 MLS All-Star selection, made three saves for his eighth of ten shutouts on the year.

SINOVIC SIGNED | Sporting Kansas City announced Tuesday the signing of defender Seth Sinovic. The 24-year-old entered Major League Soccer in 2010 as a second-round MLS SuperDraft selection. He appeared in 20 regular season matches, making 18 starts, for the New England Revolution as a rookie, and also earned four appearances in the 2010 SuperLiga.

It marked Kansas City’s first win at the Home Depot Center since 2004, and came against an LA side that was in first place in the Western Conference and went on to secure the Supporters Shield last season. Kansas City is unbeaten against the Galaxy in five straight matches.

KANSAS CITY CONNECTIONS • Kansas City assistant coach Octavio Zambrano managed the Galaxy from 1997-1999, leading LA to the 1997 CONCACAF Champions Cup final and securing the Supporters Shield with the best record in club history in 1998. Zambrano compiled a 42-22-0 record at the helm of the Galaxy. • The only Sporting KC player to have been a member of the Galaxy, defender Shavar Thomas was traded from Kansas City to Los Angeles in 2007. Following subsequent moves to Chivas USA and Philadelphia, he was re-acquired by KC in June 2010. • Two Sporting KC players will be returning to where they played college soccer. Forward Kei Kamara emigrated from Sierra Leone to Lawndale, Calif. as a teenager and attended nearby Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson, Calif., the campus on which The Home Depot Center is located. Chance Myers, a southern California native, played at UCLA (2006-2007) before being drafted first overall by Kansas City in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft. • Los Angeles assistant coach Dave Sarachan and Sporting KC assistant coach Zoran Savic were teammates on the 1981-1982 Kansas City Comets. • LA Galaxy youth academy director Chris Klein played his first eight MLS seasons in Kansas City from 1998-2005. He ranks second on KC’s all-time assists chart with 45 and fourth on the club’s all-time goals scored chart with 39. Klein was one of six Kansas City players to break the 200 regular season games played barrier and played the sixth most regular season minutes in KC history (16,381). • Los Angeles Galaxy forward Adam Cristman spent the 2009 MLS season in Kansas City, playing in just five games due to injury. • Sporting Kansas City midfielder Luke Sassano was acquired prior to the 2011 season in a trade with the LA Galaxy in the aftermath of the Stage 2 Re-Entry Draft. Galaxy defender Frankie Hejduk was drafted eighth overall by Sporting KC, who subsequently dealt his rights to LA in exchange for the rights to Sassano.

Sinovic, a Leawood, Kansas native and graduate of Rockhurst High School, attended Creighton University from 2006-2009 before being drafted by the Revolution with the 25th overall pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. BRAVO BACK SOON | Sporting Kansas City Designated Player Omar Bravo is nearing his return from a sports hernia injury that required surgery last month, but did not travel to Los Angeles for Saturday’s match. Bravo was named MLS Player of the Week after scoring two goals in his MLS debut at The Home Depot Center against Chivas USA in Sporting Kansas City’s season-opening 3-2 victory. Bravo joined KC as one of the most decorated players in Chivas Guadalajara history as the club’s second all-time leading scorer and is a well-known member of the Mexico National Team. Bravo has scored 16 goals for Mexico in 65 appearances, including two goals at the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. CALIFORNIA CONNECTION | Four Sporting Kansas City players were raised in California: goalkeeper Eric Kronberg (Santa Rosa), forward Kei Kamara (Lawndale), midfielder Luke Sassano (Orinda) and forward Chance Myers (Thousand Oaks). Sassano and Kronberg both attended the University of California (two of 15 Bears on MLS rosters at the start of the 2011 season) and were teammates during the 2004 and 2005 seasons, reaching the NCAA quarterfinals in ‘05. Kronberg is the second-longest tenured player on Sporting Kansas City’s roster, now in his sixth MLS season after being drafted in the fourth round of the 2006 MLS SuperDraft. He set an MLS record for most seasons played prior to a debut, which came in the 2010 regular season finale when he made three saves in a 4-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes. He has appeared in three non-MLS matches in 2011, going 1-1-0 in the MLS Reserve League and 1-00 in U.S. Open Cup qualifying action. BUNBURY BUZZ | After scoring as a second-half substitute against Chicago in his return from a dislocated elbow suffered during the pre-season, Sporting Kansas City striker Teal Bunbury scored twice in his first start of the 2011 season in KC’s 3-3 draw at Vancouver. Making his first appearance in Canada since committing to the U.S. Men’s National Team, the Ontario-native recorded the first multi-goal game of his professional career. Bunbury also provided the game-winning assist in overtime of Sporting KC’s 1-0

win over the Houston Dynamo earlier this month in the 2011 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualifier and drew a penalty kick in the team’s 3-2 loss at New England. The fourth overall draft pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft out of Akron, Bunbury enjoyed a standout rookie season with five goals and two assists in 26 appearances. His five goals last season were the most by a KC rookie since Scott Sealy scored nine times in 2005. During the offseason, Bunbury made his international debut for the U.S. Men’s National Team in a friendly against South Africa in November and scored in his second appearance on a penalty kick against Chile at The Home Depot Center in January. KAMARA KEY | Sporting Kansas City striker Kei Kamara has also started the 2011 with his name often on the scoresheet. After recording two assists in the club’s season-opening 3-2 victory at Chivas USA, Kamara missed the team’s second match while with the Sierra Leone National Team for an African Cup of Nations qualifier but picked up right where he left off with his first goal of the 2011 season at Vancouver and a two-goal performance at New England on April 23rd, giving him the club’s last three goals scored. Kamara is coming off a career year, scoring a team-high 10 goals and six assists, and has already accumulated eight points in five matches this season. Both marks from last season were personal career-highs for Kamara, now in his sixth year in MLS. Kamara has seven appearances for Sierra Leone. COLLIN AND CESAR AT CENTERBACK | Two of Sporting Kansas City’s new additions, French defender Aurelien Collin and Brazilian defender Julio Cesar, paired in central defense for the first time in the club’s last match, a 1-0 defeat at Eastern Conference leaders New York Red Bulls. Collin, 25, joins Kansas City after previously playing for Vitoría Futebol Clube in Liga ZON Sagres, the Portuguese top flight. starts for the club, contributing in three clean sheets. Cesar, 32, has spent time at Real Valladolid, Real Madrid, A.C. Milan, Real Sociedad, Benfica, Austria Wien, Bolton Wanderers, Tigres UANL,

Olympiacos, FC Dinamo Bucuresti, Gaziantepspor and Maritimo Funchal. ROAD TRIP | Sporting Kansas City continues its road trip to start the 2011 season on Saturday with the seventh of 10 consecutive away matches while the final touches are put on LIVESTRONG Sporting Park, the team’s new state-of-the-art, $200 million venue. The brand new stadium will open June 9th when Sporting KC hosts the Chicago Fire at 9:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2. Single-game tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, May 16th. Kansas City is 60-124-52 all-time away from home, and went 4-8-3 on the road in 2010.

UPCOMING MILESTONES Arnaud has played 224 games in his MLS and KC career, and his next appearance will break a tie with Nick Garcia for second on Sporting Kansas City’s all-time games played chart...Of the 224 games played, Arnaud has started 203 regular season matches and will surpass Jimmy Conrad for third on the team’s all-time chart in his next start...Arnaud is currently tied with Josh Wolff for 2nd on the team’s all-time goal scoring list with 43 career strikes...Arnaud is also fourth on the team’s all-time game-winning goals chart with ten over his nine MLS seasons.
