San Antonio FC 11 Swope Park Rangers April 9, 2016 at Toyota Field (San Antonio, Texas) The Swope Park Rangers played to a 11 draw with San Antonio FC at Toyota Field on Saturday, April 9. The Rangers took the lead in just the second minute when Daniel Salloi tucked away his second goal of the season after a scramble in the penalty area. San Antonio, who were hosting their firstever home game as a franchise and buoyed by a sellout crowd of 8,466, hit back late in the first half when Danny Garcia made it 11 after being played through by Carlos Alvarez, and that is how the game would finish.

GAME NOTES HOMESTAND AT LAST This Saturday, the Swope Park Rangers will continue their twogame homestand, marking the first time this season the Rangers have played two consecutive games at home making SPR the only team in the USL yet to do so. The Rangers are 530 at home this season, claiming more than half of their total points in Kansas City. San Antonio are 233 on the road this season, and are unbeaten in their last two away games (101). The Rangers' opening seven home games were all sandwiched between road games, while SPR have already endured two stretches of three consecutive away games. From August to September, the Rangers will host five games in a row, starting on Aug. 21 and ending on Sept. 10, while six of SPR's final seven games are at home. KELLY BACK ON THE SCORESHEET Last Saturday, Swope Park Rangers forward Dane Kelly scored his second goal for the club, and his first since April 2. Kelly, who had the gamewinning goal against Orange County last weekend, is the USL's all time leading scorer and added his 44th career USL goal on Saturday. The 25yearold scored his first goal for the club against Tulsa Roughnecks FC on April 2 before suffering a hamstring injury later in that same game which kept him sidelined for nine games, before returning on June 12 against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2. BREAKOUT WEEK FOR MOLANO Last week was a remarkable one for Swope Park Rangers midfielder Alex Molano. The 24yearold first opened his account for the club with a 95th minute equalizing free kick in the 11 draw at Colorado Springs on Wednesday before adding his first assist of the season by setting up Dane Kelly's gamewinner against Orange Couny on Saturday. Molano has made nine appearances this season, including five starts, adding a goal and an assist following last week's performances. SUPERSUB AYRTON In Saturday's 30 victory over Orange County Blues FC, Swope Park Rangers midfielder Ayrton came off the bench in the 72nd minute to assist on SPR's second and third goals of the game. The assists were Ayrton's first as a member of the Rangers, while he now as one goal and two assists in seven games. The 22yearold's multiassist performance marked just the second time this season that a Rangers player had recorded more than one assist in the game after Kevin Oliveira' notched three against Rio Grande Valley FC on June 8. BALLO AND MOLANO RECOGNIZED Swope Park Rangers defender Oumar Ballo was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 18 this week, while Alex Molano was selected on the bench of the Team of the Week. Ballo played the full 90 minutes in

SPR's 30 shutout victory over Orange County last Saturday, while Molano started the week with a 95thminute equalizer against Colorado Springs last Wednesday before adding the gamewinning assist against the Blues on Saturday. SWOPE PARK RANGERS APPRECIATION DAY At a City Council meeting on Thursday afternoon, Kansas City proclaimed Saturday, July 30, 2016 as Swope Park Rangers Appreciation Day. The Rangers were recognized for the club's involvement in the community and athletic prowess on the field, and Saturday's honorary Host of the Match will be 5th District Councilwoman Alissia Canady. Head coach Marc Dos Santos as well as club captains Christian Duke and Jon Kempin were all in attendance at Thursday's City Council meeting. RANGERS (ALMOST) ALWAYS SCORE The Swope Park Rangers have been shutout just three times in the 2016 season, having scored at least one goal in 16 of the club's 19 games. LA Galaxy II are the only side to have been shutout less than the Rangers in the USL Western Conference, having been held off the scoresheet twice this season. Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, who the Rangers drew 11 with last Wednesday, is the only other side to have been shutout three times this season, with all 12 other teams in the Western Conference being shutout four or more times this season. San Antonio FC have been shutout six times this season. OLIVEIRA'S SEASON FINISHED Earlier this month, the Swope Park Rangers announced that midfielder Kevin Oliveira suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in training last week and will miss the remainder of the 2016 USL season. Oliveira made 13 appearances this season, adding three goals and four assists. The 20 yearold joined SPR in February from Benfica B in Portugal after coming through their Academy, while he also has experience with the Cape Verde National Team. YOUTHFUL SQUAD The average age of the Swope Park Rangers squad is 22.3, which is tied for the fifth lowest in the 29team league. The roster includes five teenagers in Jaylin Lindsey (16), Ezra Armstrong (17), Will Little (18), Steven Tekesky (18) and Nansel Selbol (19), while the oldest player on the squad are Zac Lubin and Tommy Meyer, both 26. The leaguewide average age is 24.2, with FC Montreal boasting the youngest team with a mean of 21.1 while Arizona United SC are the oldest with an average age of 26.7. Saturday's opponents San Antonio FC are the 11th oldest with an average age of 25.5.

GAME NOTES CONT. USL EXPANSION SEASON The 2016 campaign is the Swope Park Rangers' USL expansion season. For the eight MLSowned USL teams that entered the league prior to the Rangers, only three qualified for the postseason in their initial campaign. LA Galaxy II made it to the semifinals in 2014 while New York Red Bulls II advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals and Seattle Sounders FC 2 were eliminated in the Western Conference First Round in 2015. FC Montreal, Portland Timbers 2, Real Monarchs, Toronto FC II and Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 did not qualify for the USL Playoffs in their inaugural season in 2015.

POTENT STRIKEFORCE On Dec. 16, 2015 the Swope Park Rangers announced the signings of Dane Kelly and Kris Tyrpak, who combined for 20 goals in the USL regular season in 2015. Kelly is the USL's alltime leading scorer with 43 goals, 42 with the Charelston Battery, while Kris Tyrpak has scored goals in MLS, NASL, USL and USL PDL. In all competitions last season, Kelly (12) and Tyrpak (11) had 23 goals between them, while Kelly has two and Tyrpak has four so far in 2016. San Antonio FC are led by Rafael Castillo, Jason Johnson and Franck Tayou with three goals apiece.

USL EXPERIENCE Of the 25 players on the Swope Park Rangers' current roster, eight have previously played in the USL. Most notably, Dane Kelly is the USL's all time leading scorer with 43 goals since joining the league in 2011. Christian Duke spent the last two seasons with OKC Energy FC, helping the side to a playoff berth in 2015. Tommy Meyer was minutes from claiming the 2015 USL Championship as his LA Galaxy II side fell to the Rochester Rhinos in extra time. Kris Tyrpak spent the 2015 season with the Austin Aztex, scoring nine goals for his hometown club. Jon Kempin (Orlando City SC, OKC Energy FC) spent time on loan at Sporting KC's former affiliates. Johnny Grant (FC Montreal), Zac Lubin (Tulsa Roughnecks FC) and Tyler Pasher (Pittsburgh Riverhounds) also have USL experience.

ACADEMY TIES On March 10, the Swope Park Rangers announced the signings of Ezra Armstrong, Will Little and Steven Tekesky to Academy contracts ahead of the 2016 USL season. All three players joined the Rangers directly from the Sporting KC Academy after spending a large portion of preseason with the team. Armstrong and Little both relocated to Kansas City within the last few years from Tennessee to join the Sporting KC Academy, while Tekesky is from Raymore, Mo. Armstrong comes from a family with pedigree, with his father, Desmond Armstrong, a National Hall of Famer. Most recently, Jaylin Lindsey was signed to an academy contract on May 6, making his debut the following day against Saint Louis FC, becoming the first American born in the 2000s to make his professional debut.

STRAIGHT OUTTA MLS While there is a significant amount of USL knowhow in the squad, two players also boast MLS experience Tommy Meyer and Kris Tyrpak. Meyer was drafted in the first round of the 2012 MLS SuperDraft by the LA Galaxy and went on to make 57 appearances in all competitions for the club, winning MLS Cup in 2012 and 2014. Tyrpak was drafted by Chivas USA in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, tallying one goal against the Colorado Rapids and one assist against FC Dallas before the club folded at the end of that season. Two further players were also signed by MLS teams but did not make an appearance: Oumar Ballo was drafted by the Houston Dynamo in 2015 and Christian Duke spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons with Sporting KC.

FIRST TEAM HELP Throughout the 2016 USL season, the Swope Park Rangers have seen several players added on loan from parent club, Sporting Kansas City. See below for a full list of players that have spent time with SPR on loan from Sporting KC.

INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR There are nine members of the Swope Park Rangers that were born outside of the U.S. and Canada. Ever Alvarado (Honduras), Ayrton (Brazil), Oumar Ballo (Mali), Amer Didic (Bosnia & Herzegovina), Tomas Granitto (El Salvador), Dane Kelly (Jamaica), Kevin Oliveira (Cape Verde), Nansel Selbol (Nigeria) and Ualefi (Brazil) were all born outside of North America. Each USL team is permitted seven Foreign Players on their roster, and the Rangers occupy six with Ballo, Didic and Granitto qualifying as domestic players.

GAME NOTES CONT. CAPTAIN DUKE On Wednesday, March 23, the Swope Park Rangers' firstever signing Christian Duke was named captain of the club ahead of the season opener. Duke is an Overland Park, Kan. native that came through Sporting KC's Academy before enjoying a fouryear college career at the University of San Diego. He was selected by Sporting KC in the 2013 Supplemental Draft but did not make an appearance, instead spending time on loan at OKC Energy FC before joining the club permanently in 2015. So far this season, Duke has started all 19 games for SPR. LOCAL PRESENCE IN THE SQUAD While there are three players on the Swope Park Rangers roster who are directly from the Kansas City area, four more have connections to the city. Christian Duke (Overland Park, Kan.), Jon Kempin (Leawood, Kan.) and Steven Tekesky (Raymore, Mo.) were all raised in the

region, while Ezra Armstrong, Jaylin Lindsey, Will Little and Nansel Selbol all entered the club through the Sporting KC Academy, despite not being natives of the area. In addition, center back Tommy Meyer is from St. Louis, Mo. and returns to his home state after spending eight years away. CONNECTED TO SWOPE PARK The team name, "Swope Park Rangers", is a moniker that stems from the days of the old MLS Reserve League. Sporting Kansas City's reserve side would play games at Swope Soccer Village at Swope Park and fans who followed the side coined the name Swope Park Rangers in reference to the team. The name was never used through official club channels until October 22, 2015, when Sporting Club introduced the Swope Park Rangers as the organization's new USL side. The club will play the majority of its home games at Children's Mercy Victory Field at Swope Soccer Village.

TECHNICAL STAFF MARC DOS SANTOS Head Coach Marc Dos Santos is entering his 10th year of coaching in 2016, having most recently taken Ottawa Fury FC to the 2015 NASL Soccer Bowl, culminating in being named 2015 NASL Coach of the Year. Dos Santos began his career with the Montreal Impact's reserve team, TroisRivieres Attak FC of the Canadian Soccer League in 2007. After several titles, Dos Santos became the Impact head coach in 2009 and led Montreal to CONCACAF Champions League qualification and a USL First Division title before transitioning to USSF Division 2 in 2010 and the NASL the following year. In 2012, Dos Santos moved to Brazil to focus on youth development with FC Primeira Camisa U20s and SE Palmeiras U15s, winning a Copa do Brasil U15 championship with the latter. Dos Santos returned to Canada in 2013 to take charge of the Ottawa Fury ahead of their NASL expansion season.
