MATCH PREVIEW
The Swope Park Rangers (3-1-1, 10 points) sit in a four-way tie for second in the Western Conference after a 1-1 draw at San Antonio FC on April 7. SPR returns home to welcome OKC Energy FC (1-4-0, 3 points) at 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 14 at Shawnee Mission South District Stadium. Last season ended on a sour note for the Energy FC. Saturday’s match will be the first time these two teams face each other after last year’s PK showdown in the Western Conference Championship game. SPR won off an Adrian Zendajas PK, which was the longest PK shootout in USL history. SPR is 3-4-1 in competition with OKC, going 1-3-0 in 2016 with the Rangers only win coming in September to catapult SPR into the playoffs, leading to their 2016 Western Conference Championship. Former Sporting KC goalie Jimmy Nielson left his coaching duties for the Energy FC before the 2018 season and OKC has yet to find their stride, starting off the season 1-4-0 after his departure.
