MATCH PREVIEW The Swope Park Rangers (4-2-4, 16 points) will play their lone home match in a six-game span when they welcome Phoenix Rising FC (6-2-3, 21 points) to Children’s Mercy Park on Saturday afternoon looking for the team’s first win against the visitors. After taking four points from a three-game road trip, the Rangers return home to conclude the season series with Phoenix. The sides played to a 2-2 draw on April 21 in Arizona with Billy Forbes opening the scoring before two goals from Kharlton Belmar gave SPR the lead. However, Solomon Asante scored the equalizer in the 90th minute for the fourth draw in five all-time meetings between the Rangers and Rising FC. SPR’s unbeaten record at home (2-0-1) will be put to the test against a Phoenix team that is unbeaten on the road (4-0-1) this year. Both teams have been shut out only once in 2018 and feature players in pursuit of the USL Golden Boot. Belmar leads the league with eight goals in 2018, while Chris Cortez has six goals across all competitions (five in USL, one in U.S. Open Cup) for Phoenix.
