An in-mold helmet construction is very lightweight, but lacks penetration resistance due to the thin shell. By molding a sheet of aramid to the core, the low weight is maintained while the protection is radically improved.

MIPS

MIPS stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System and is used to reduce the rotational forces to the brain in the case of an oblique impact. A normal helmet is created to absorb vertical impacts very efficiently, but is not as good at the rotational forces. When subjected to an oblique impact, the MIPS system absorbs these forces by allowing a small rotation of the outer shell relative to the liner.

Through examining helmets used by World Cup alpine racers, we identified that they were worn out in the front caused by repeated impacts from the gates. The violence was more severe than we had ever imagined and the discovery led us to developing the MultiImpact Deflector Panels, featured in the new line of Skull Orbic helmets. Our deflector panels decrease the transmitted force of the impact, and increase the shock absorbing capacity of the helmets. This ensures that the helmet performance remains at the highest level when it’s really needed: in a real crash. In the deflector panel of the Skull Orbic Comp, we integrated our patented VPD 2.0 that has extreme impact absorbing properties, proven very efficient for repeated impacts in our body armor collection. The Skull Orbic X deflector panel is made of multi-impact EPP material.

We are always looking at new ways to promote safety and we often end up in new areas of expertise depending on the challenge. POC Digital is an initiative to further support our mission of doing the best we can to possibly save lives and to reduce the consequences of accidents. POC Digital is a department that explores the possibilities to improve the level of safety through the use of modern technology. Our collaboration with some of the best minds in science, health and technology has allowed us to push the boundaries and to be at the forefront of safety. POC Digital, which is complemented by collaborations with partners such as Volvo Car Group and ICEdot, is another step in this direction and is proof of our dedication and commitment to improving safety for our users. As part of this approach we have already introduced the ICEdot Crash Sensor, ICE Tag and the H.I. system (Helmet Integrity), used in our

latest ski racing helmet, and the 2015 season will see the launch of the Emergency Trigger. WHAT IS ICE? ICE stands for In Case of Emergency and is recognized all over the world. Our ICE products are a proactive effort to provide emergency personnel with correct medical history such as blood group, allergies and basic information like name and emergency contact, even if the victim is unconscious. Helmet, body armor and goggle construction and design are critical elements in accident safety, but unfortunately, accidents do happen. Studies has shown that if we could minimize the time before the victim receives help and provide information needed for correct medical care, we could potentially limit the consequences of accidents.

To be at the forefront of safety, innovation and development we created POC Lab. It is our scientific forum, which brings together experts from a range of disciplines and medicine. They support and advise us to ensure that what we develop is the most reliable and advanced protection on the market. POC Lab allows us to collaborate with some of the world’s foremost sports medicine experts, brain scientists and specialists in spinal cord injuries. The members of the POC Lab are carefully selected for their unique expertise. Each member shares POC’s

mission to do the best we can to possibly save lives and to reduce the consequences of accidents. To complement our scientific experts and to make sure our products are optimal we also draw on guidance from material technologists and our team athletes, including X Games riders, Olympic cyclists and elite World Cup skiers. Further we listen closely to what you have to say and as users of our protective gear we value your feedback and suggestions, which we hope will allow us to develop even better products.

ICEDOT CRASH SENSOR When paired with the ICEdot smartphone app, the crash sensor is able to detect motion, changes in forces and impacts. In the event of critical forces, the device triggers the app to send a text message with your GPS position to your pre-selected contacts unless you stop it within a user defined time interval. This will let your family or friends know you might need help.

JetForce is the result of a multiyear collaboration between Black Diamond and PIEPS and is the first avalanche airbag system to use jet-fan inflation. Powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, the fan spins at 60,000 RPM to inflate the 200-liter avalanche airbag in 4 seconds. Because of its unlimited air supply, the JetForce system can support larger volume airbags to maximize the effect of inverse segregation. Inverse segregation states that in an avalanche, larger objects tend to rise to the surface and smaller ones will sink. JetForce deploys a 200-liter airbag to increase your volume, which reduces the risk of being buried. Due to the JetForce system’s unlimited air supply it is also possible to maintain volume despite moderate

punctures and tears. Once deployed, the fan periodically tops up the airbag for three minutes before automatically deflating the bag. The automatic deflation aids in extraction, makes the airbag easy to repack, and has the potential to create an air pocket if the victim is buried. The Thorax pack has three strategically placed air intakes; the lower left sidewall of the pack, the back panel and the mesh lining of the airbag pocket. The battery has been specifically engineered to be able to operate at very cold temperatures (-30C) and even at low charge levels. On every start up, Thorax performs a complete system diagnosis.

The VPD (Visco-Elastic Polymer Dough) range is highly impact absorbent, comfortable, ligthweight and adapts to create an individual fit. VPD has given us a completely new approach to developing body armor and due to its high level of protection and the ability to transition from soft to hard during impact, we don’t have to choose between safety and flexibility. Lots of body armor may be lightweight but is not optimal for repetative impacts. Some may take one impact with good absorption, but a second impact to the protector will transfer a much higher amount of energy to the user, the third an even greater amount and so on. POCITO SKULL LIGHT

The POCito Skull has the same technologies as POC’s adult race helmets but provides improved impact absorption at lower speeds and forces. It has a full Aramid Penetration Barrier to protect from sharp objects and the helmet has also adjustable sizing, which allows the child to grow with the

helmet. The helmet comes in fluorescent colors with reflective stickers to maximize visibility and ultimately avoid collisions with other skiers. There is also an accessory pack including a LED light and a fluorescent vest. The goggle clip has a My Info-space for the parents’ contact information.

The Cornea goggles offer a huge field of view and the soft PU frame with goggle strap outriggers and triple-layer foam fits comfortably on any face. Placing the lens on the outside of the wide frame provides the field of view needed to improve reaction times. The lens has been injected to a cylindrical shape for superb optical qualities and minimal distortion. To avoid steaming the inner lens is made of anti-fog treated CP. Available with NXT lens.

NXT LENSES  NXT lenses are made from a proprietary material that is known as ”visual armor”. NXT was developed as a solution to military fighter jet and helicopter pilots’ demands for a shatterproof canopy that would not distort their vision. All POC’s NXT lenses are equipped with a color vision-boosting filter called HCD (High Chromatic Definition). HCD has an extreme contrast enhancing effect and takes goggle lens clarity to a new level. To keep your lens clean and clear, you will also find an excellent Oleophobic/Hydrophobic treatment as well as an anti- scratch and anti-fog treatment. In addition to these unique features, NXT lenses also are equipped with a Photochromatic filter, which enables the lens to change the tint color depending on current light conditions. The 3P lens (POC Partially Polarized) has a polarized effect that takes away excessive glare while letting in enough reflection to distinguish snow from ice.

COLORS VS. LIGHT CONDITIONS  The color spectrum runs from blue to violet, with many shades in between. Color sensation and perception is individual, which leads to a very subjective choice of lens color for varying conditions. However, there are some basic rules within the color spectrum that can enhance contrast. A lens with a yellow, orange, pink or red color will block out more of the blue end of the color spectrum. This will enhance contrast, enabling you to more clearly make out shapes, objects and bumps in the terrain. These lenses are suitable in low light, fog and flat light, but also in moderate light. In bright light, dark tints will keep your eyes more comfortable. A green or grey lens dampens the color spectrum evenly. This leads to a natural feel where the color spectrum will be experienced as normal.

COMP SINGLE LENSES The Comp series are developed specifically for racing and have a single lens construction with a Cellulose Propionate (CP) lens to minimize the optical distortion. POC’s double lens construction has superior polymer materials as well as anti-fog and anti-scratch treatments, but a single lens can’t offer the same degree of protection against fog and scratches.

Developed in close collaboration with POC team athlete and backcountry snowboarder Jeremy Jones, the Did Glacier is designed to relieve your eyes from excess light with a very dark lens and a construction that minimizes the light penetration around the frame. The grilamid frame is slim and lightweight and the side panels are made of laser cut goat skin.

DID is a versatile model for both sport lifestyle and performance. With the experience gained in goggle optics we felt it was necessary to utilize our knowledge to develop the best performance eyewear we could. POC’s sunglasses are developed to optimize vision and protection for all conditions and will protect your eyes from all of nature’s elements. Our different technologies, lenses, tints and treatments will also enhance your vision in different and varying light conditions. POC is collaborating with Carl Zeiss Vision, who are recognized and revered for the best-in-class optical expertise in ophthalmic lenses, medical equipment and sport optics for over one hundred years. This collaboration has allowed us to develop a great and wide range of lenses in PC and nylon, to improve the optical performance of our sunglasses. POC PC lenses by Carl Zeiss Vision are made of polycarbonate and have great optical performance. The excellent impact resistance makes them a good choice for sporting activities. POC nylon lenses by Carl Zeiss Vision are made of lightweight polyamide, a material with excellent optical properties. The high material purity and low internal stress allow for lenses with exceptional clarity.

POLARIZED Polarization is common in sunglass lenses as a way of reducing glare from surfaces, for example water. It works by filtering certain types of polarized electromagnetic waves and leaving only a portion, which is polarized parallel to the orientation of the filter. POC’s polarized lenses have the polarizing element infused directly in the lens through a proprietary process. Thanks to this, the lens become thinner, more durable and has better optical performance than traditional film-based polarization filters. NXT LENSES In the 1990’s the US Army required a lightweight transparent material that would provide ballistic protection without compromising optical performance. This new material would have to provide reliability, protection and weather resistance, along with ballistic and optical requirements. The material was further developed into NXT® lenses. These lenses are so unlikely to break that we deliver them with an ”unbreakable” warranty.

PHOTOCHROMIC Different light conditions call for different tint of a sunglass lens. By applying a customized photochromic system we offer a lens that quickly and automatically adapts to the light conditions of the day. The photochromic dye is embedded in the lens meaning it won’t be affected by wear and tear of the lens.

ACTIVITY-SPECIFIC LENS TINTS Different sports require different contrasts. Together with Carl Zeiss Vision, who has great experience in improving optical performance for diverse athletes, we have developed lens tints that bring out the details that are important for specific sports. Our road bike optimized lens increases contrasts on the road surface, helping you to spot irregularities, holes and gravel in time, while our trail specific lens is developed for maximum contrast on forest trails, adding definition to obstacles like roots or rocks on the ground.

RIPEL A lens treatment that makes water and perspiration pearl off the surface, rather than creating a film. The lens stays clean and free of distortion that would otherwise be caused by the water. The lenses will also withstand fingerprints and stains, which make them stay clean much longer than ordinary lenses.

ANTI-FOG To optimize our sports glasses for biking we have added the best anti-fog treatment available. It vastly increases the lenses resistance to fog up in moist environments or with heavy physical effort, supporting your vision and increasing your performance. ANTI-SCRATCH The anti-scratch coating prevents scratches that otherwise can damage the surface of the lens. ANTI-REFLECTIVE The anti-reflective coating provides a sharper vision with less glare and prevents sunlight from reflecting into your eyes from the back surface of the lens when the sun is behind you.

Frames GRILAMID FRAMES Our injected grilamid frames offer low weight, flexibility and durability. ACETATE FRAMES Our high quality acetate frames are hand sculpted from premium acetate. STICKY FIT The anti-slip rubber inserts at the temples and the adjustable nose piece, made of hydrophilic rubber, keeps the frame firmly in place with every movement. RX-ABILITY RX-able frames are compatible with prescription lenses within the corrective range. This means an optician or retailer can order tinted lenses with any prescription (within the stated range) from their lens supplier. The retailer can also contact Zeiss to get tinted lenses with the desired prescription. Note that lens material may differ. A complete RX-ability analysis made by Zeiss is available on demand.
