Welcome to MTB 2015 For 2015 we take another important step with our digital devices and services, promoting POCâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s mission of possibly saving lives and reducing the consequences of accidents, by introducing the POC Emergency Trigger. The Emergency Trigger is our most recent initiative among a number of digital products in our quest to increase the level of safety. Emergency Trigger is a device that is connected to your smart phone via Bluetooth and attached to the chinstrap of your helmet. If you are out on your own somewhere in the woods, injured but conscious, press the button and your medical information and GPS coordinates will be sent out to your preset contacts, letting them know you need help. POC is a Swedish company with a strong mission to do the best we can to possibly save lives and to reduce the consequences of accidents for gravity sports athletes and cyclists.

The challenge to manage rotational violence is always a priority and from 2015, four different POC helmets will be available with MIPS technology; the Crane, the Receptor, the Cortex and the Trabec. In our range of body armor, there is a new line of VPD products, VPD Air, specifically developed to meet the growing number of Enduro and single track related needs for even lighter and more supple gear. The eyewear, POC Eyes, has been further refined and the line broadened to support all possible needs, depending on preference and conditions. We wish you great riding and a fantastic season! MIPS

Different helmet concepts & technologies for several different needs

MIPS stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System and is used to reduce the rotational forces to the brain in the case of an oblique impact. A normal helmet is created to absorb vertical impacts very efficiently, but is not as good at the rotational forces. When subjected to an oblique impact, the MIPS system absorbs these forces by allowing a small rotation of the outer shell relative to the liner.

POC’s new progressive core (Pro Core) combines two densities. With a stiffer outer part of the liner and a softer portion on the inside, the helmet becomes exceptionally durable on the outside and well suited to

and the EPS liner, which allows for a very lightweight helmet with a high level of protection.

Normally, both the traditional hard shell and in-mold helmets rely on Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) for shock absorption. EPS absorbs energy by plastic deformation, meaning it is deformed permanently upon impact. Therefore, a helmet liner made of EPS will not absorb repetitive shocks well.

Most of POC’s bike helmets have a liner of EPP instead of the traditional EPS. The difference is that EPP, unlike EPS, does not deform permanently on impact and is therefore suitable for absorbing repetitive shocks.

VPD VPD - ÂŽVISCO-ELASTIC POLYMER DOUGH

The VPD (Visco-Elastic Polymer Dough) range is highly impact absorbent, comfortable, ligthweight and adapts to create an individual fit. VPD has given us a completely new approach to developing body armor and due to its high level of protection and the ability to transition from soft to hard during impact, we donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t have to choose between safety and flexibility. Lots of body armor may be lightweight but is not optimal for repetative impacts. Some may take one impact with good absorption, but a second impact to the protector will transfer a much higher amount of energy to the user, the third an even greater amount and so on. VPD protectors retain the same high

absorption level regardless of number of impacts. This is an important function to us since we believe that a protector will have several impacts during one fall, and during its lifetime. We do everything we can to give you the highest level of protection, but we also want our armor to be comfortable. Anatomically and ergonomically it follows the shape of your body to give you complete freedom of movement. Another major advantage of the POC body armor is the highly efficient ventilation technology, which will keep you cool and allows you to focus on your ride. Looking at the range we hope that you will find a product that suits your personal needs.

We are always looking at new ways to promote safety and we often end up in new areas of expertise depending on the challenge. POC Digital is an initiative to further support our mission of doing the best we can to possibly save lives and to reduce the consequences of accidents. POC Digital is a department that explores the possibilities to improve the level of safety through the use of modern technology. Our collaboration with some of the best minds in science, health and technology has allowed us to push the boundaries and to be at the forefront of safety. POC Digital, which is complemented by collaborations with partners such as Volvo Car Group and ICEdot, is another step in this direction and is proof of our dedication and commitment to improving safety for our users. As part of this approach we have already introduced the ICEdot Crash Sensor, ICE Tag and the H.I. system (Helmet Integrity), used in our

latest ski racing helmet, and the 2015 season will see the launch of the Emergency Trigger. WHAT IS ICE? ICE stands for In Case of Emergency and is recognized all over the world. Our ICE products are a proactive effort to provide emergency personnel with correct medical history such as blood group, allergies and basic information like name and emergency contact, even if the victim is unconscious. Helmet, body armor and goggle construction and design are critical elements in accident safety, but unfortunately, accidents do happen. Studies has shown that if we could minimize the time before the victim receives help and provide information needed for correct medical care, we could potentially limit the consequences of accidents.

ICE TAG By scanning the identification tag or sending a text message with the unique code found on the tag will allow emergency personnel, or passersby, to identify the victim and receive correct medical information, such as blood group or allergies that can be vital for correct medical care. ICEDOT CRASH SENSOR When paired with the ICEdot smartphone app, the crash sensor is able to detect motion, changes in forces and impacts. In the event of critical forces, the device triggers the app to send a text message with your GPS position to your pre-selected contacts unless you stop it within a user defined time interval. This will let your family or friends know you might need help.

Danny MacAskill is a professional street trial* rider born and raised in Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. On April 19th, 2009 he released a 5 1/2 minute street trial video on YouTube that was about to change his life. Filmed by his friend Dave Sowerby, the video got hundreds of thousands of views over night and as of today has been watched well over 35 million times – the world went absolutely crazy about Danny. Since his breakthrough, Danny has been riding all over the globe and in 2013 Danny completed one of his biggest projects: the unbelievable ’MacAskill’s Imaginate’ clip, which was a huge success reaching over 15 million views in just 6 months. This year, Danny is once again embarking on a new journey – having founded the Drop and Roll team, Danny will be touring

across Europe performing awesome live shows in front of enthusiastic crowds with three of his close friends and talented riders. It’s a blast to be a part of Danny’s journey and we are excited about the adventures to come. With a strong background in BMX, ‘‘Rad” Ross started developing his Mountain Biking skills early and quickly became famous in the circuit with his strong performances on technical XC courses and podium finishes in Short Track and Super-D’s. Ross started dominating the Super D scene and quickly became a top finisher in every Enduro. If you watch Ross Schnell on his bike, there’s no doubt that you are going to learn a few things, so be sure to look for ‘‘Rad” Ross at any mountain bike event where strong technical skills are required.

Fabio is considered as one of the most talented and upcoming athletes in the street trial szene. Growing up in a small village in the mountains of Austria he is now performing breathtaking shows and filming all over Europe together with big names like Danny MacAskill. With his first video ‘‘Street Trial 2012” he draw attention to his skills at a young age. In 2013 he made his next film ‘‘Get Creative” and in 2014 ‘‘Paris is my Playground”. We’re looking forward to see more of Fabio and be part of his amazing developement.

Drew is an absolute machine on a bike! This Nova Scotia native is known for his unique approach to riding. Decorated with countless podiums at events such as the Toronto BMX Jam and Dew Tour, Drew is a force to be reckoned with. Drew’s skills go beyond the bike as he also creates mind-blowing video edits. No matter what Drew is doing, his riding is something to be excited about.

Born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. Anthony has become a staple in the BMX community. Known for his innovative and progressive riding style, Anthony ranks amongst the world’s best with two X Games bronze medals and numerous podiums at other highly competitive events. Anthony is not only a stellar athlete, but is also the creator of Red Bull Dreamline, an event that showcases the best of what BMX dirt competition can be. After suffering an injury last season, Anthony is healthy and looking forward to a strong 2014 season.
