MU LT I -I MPACT H E L ME T S POC’s new progressive core (Pro Core) combines two densities. With a stiffer outer part of the liner and a softer portion on the inside, the helmet becomes exceptionally durable on the outside and well suited to deal with higher energy impacts while the softer inner layer provides protection for lower energy impacts. The two layers also work together to give a progressive stop of the head in case of an impact.

Normally, both the traditional hard shell and in-mold helmets rely on Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) for shock absorption. EPS absorbs energy by plastic deformation, meaning it is deformed permanently upon impact. Therefore, a helmet liner made of EPS will not absorb repetitive shocks well. Most of POC’s bike helmets have a liner of EPP instead of the traditional EPS. The difference is that EPP, unlike EPS, does not deform permanently on impact and is therefore suitable for absorbing repetitive shocks.

Recco’s two-part technology can search year-round for people equipped with Recco reflectors. The new Recco SAR 1 technology is based on Recco’s renowned rescue system for people involved in avalanches. The system enables fast directional pinpointing of a person’s precise location. MIPS stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System and is used to reduce the rotational forces to the brain in the case of an oblique impact. A normal helmet is created to absorb vertical impacts very efficiently, but is not as good at the rotational forces. When subjected to an oblique impact, the MIPS system absorbs these forces by allowing a small rotation of the outer shell relative to the liner. MIPS allows a small rotation of the shell relative to the liner and thereby reduces the rotational energy transmitted to the brain on impact.

The new Recco Helicopter Search and Rescue detector, SAR 1, has a substantially larger search area. The SAR 1 is flying at a speed of 130 km/h and can search approximately 200 meters wide search strips. Considerable areas of forests, mountain terrain, rivers and shores can therefore be searched in a very short time - 1 square kilometer in approximately 3-4 minutes.

POC Body Armor Concepts & Technologies

The VPD (Visco-Elastic Polymer Dough) range is highly impact absorbent, comfortable, ligthweight and adapts to create an individual fit. VPD has given us a completely new approach to developing body armor and due to its high level of protection and the ability to transition from soft to hard during impact, we don’t have to choose between safety and flexibility. Lots of body armor may be lightweight but is not optimal for repetative impacts. Some may take one impact with good absorption, but a second impact to the protector will transfer a much higher amount of energy to the user, the third an even greater amount and so on. VPD protectors retain the same high absorption level regardless of number

of impacts. This is an important function to us since we believe that a protector will have several impacts during one fall, and during its lifetime. We do everything we can to give you the highest level of protection, but we also want our armor to be comfortable. Anatomically and ergonomically it follows the shape of your body to give you complete freedom of movement. Another major advantage of the POC body armor is the highly efficient ventilation technology, which will keep you cool and allows you to focus on your ride. The award-winning Crane is now available with the patented MIPS system to reduce the rotational forces to the brain in case of an oblique impact. The lightweight helmet has a durable and dent resistant construction where POC has implemented a liner that combines two different densities. Together the two densities work to provide a progressive stop in case of an impact. The unique size adjustment system makes it possible to customize the fit of the helmet to ensure it stays safe and comfortable in place.

The ligthweight Crane Pure is based on the award-winning Crane helmet and has been developed in close collaboration with POC’s team athletes. Crane Pure has a dual density EPS liner, where the stiffer outer part deals with higher energy impacts and the inside provides protection for lower energy impacts. The helmet is generously ventilated and comes with extra padding for size adjustment.

POCito Crane has an advanced dual density EPS liner for maximum protection, where the stiffer outer part deals with higher energy impacts and the inside provides protection for lower energy impacts. Together the two densities work to provide a progressive stop in case of an impact. Like all other POCito products, visibility is a key safety criteria and the POCito Crane comes in bright fluorescent orange color and with reflective patches.

Retina Big Flow The Retina Big Flow has a huge field of view to increase reaction speeds. The double lens is made of optical grade PC/CP and is anti-fog and anti-scratch treated to promote vision and resistance. The flexible PU frame conforms to different face shapes and the triple-layer face foam ensures a comfortable fit. Cornea Flow offers a huge field of view and the soft PU frame with goggle strap outriggers and triple-layer foam fits comfortably on any face. Placing the lens on the outside of the wide frame provides the field of view needed to improve reaction times. The lens has been injected to a cylindrical shape for superb optical qualities and minimal distortion. To avoid steaming the inner lens is made of antifog treated CP.

The Iris Flow goggles are designed to enhance your vision by maximizing the field of view without compromising the fit. The frame is made of flexible polyurethane and the lenses are penetration resistant optical grade PC/CP. The face foam is laminated with Coolmax fabric to minimize perspiration and for excellent moisture control.

About Lenses

A clear and safe view demands lenses that work in all conditions. POC’s assortment of lenses includes the most uncompromising lenses when it comes to protection and optical performance. CARL ZEISS LENSES  Carl Zeiss is recognized and revered for the best-in-class optical expertise in ophthalmic lenses, medical equipment and optics for over one hundred years. POC’s Carl Zeiss lenses are made of polycarbonate (PC) and have superior optical performance. All tints have been carefully selected to minimize glare and to utilize the full effect of the base tint benefits. VLT – VISIBLE LIGHT TRANSMISSION  VLT is a measurement that specifies the percentage of light coming through the lens, reaching your eyes. A clear lens for dark conditions has around 90% VLT whilst a very dark mirrored lens, for sunny conditions, may have lower than 10% VLT.

COLORS VS. LIGHT CONDITIONS  The color spectrum runs from blue to violet, with many shades in between. Color sensation and perception is individual, which leads to a very subjective choice of lens color for varying conditions. However, there are some basic rules within the color spectrum that can enhance contrast. A lens with a green or grey color dampens the color spectrum evenly. This leads to a natural feel where the color spectrum will be experienced as normal. A lens with a yellow, orange, pink or red color will block out more of the blue end of the color spectrum. This will enhance contrast, enabling you to more clearly make out shapes, objects and bumps in the terrain. These lenses are suitable in low light, fog and flat light, but also in moderate light. By using a blue tint some people may also experience enhanced contrast by blocking the other end of the color spectra. In bright light, dark tints will keep your eyes more comfortable.

NXT LENSES In the 1990’s the US Army required a lightweight transparent material that would provide ballistic protection without compromising optical performance. This new material would have to provide reliability, protection and weather resistance, along with ballistic and optical requirements. The material was further developed into NXT® lenses. POLARIZED Polarization is common in sunglass lenses as a way of reducing glare from surfaces, for example water. It works by filtering certain types of polarized electromagnetic waves and leaving only a portion, which is polarized parallel to the orientation of the filter. POC’s polarized lenses have the polarizing element infused directly in the lens through a proprietary process. Thanks to this, the lens become thinner, more durable and has better optical performance than traditional film-based polarization filters. HCD – HIGH CHROMATIC DEFINITION POC’s high chromatic definition lenses intensify the natural color contrast by boosting the wavelengths that the eyes’ receptors actually react on. HCD also harmonizes the color fluctuation caused by the interplay between light and shadow. The result is prevented eye fatigue and improved reaction time. ACTIVITY-SPECIFIC LENS TINTS Different sports require different contrasts. Together with Carl Zeiss Vision, who has great experience in improving optical performance for diverse athletes, we have developed lens tints that bring out the details that are important for specific sports. Our road bike optimized lens increases contrasts on the road surface, helping you to spot irregularities, holes and gravel in time, while our trail specific lens is developed for maximum contrast on forest trails, adding definition to obstacles like roots or rocks on the ground.

T R EAT MEN T S RIPEL A lens treatment that makes water and perspiration pearl off the surface, rather than creating a film. The lens stays clean and free of distortion that would otherwise be caused by the water. The lenses will also withstand fingerprints and stains, which make them stay clean much longer than ordinary lenses. ANTI-FOG To optimize our sports glasses for biking we have added the best anti-fog treatment available. It vastly increases the lenses resistance to fog up in moist environments or with heavy physical effort, supporting your vision and increasing your performance. ANTI-SCRATCH The anti-scratch coating prevents scratches that otherwise can damage the surface of the lens. ANTI-REFLECTIVE The anti-reflective coating provides a sharper vision with less glare and prevents sunlight from reflecting into your eyes from the back surface of the lens when the sun is behind you. VLT – VISIBLE LIGHT TRANSMISSION VLT is a measurement that specifies the percentage of light coming through the lens, reaching your eyes. VLT can also be separated into five different categories:

F R AMES GRILAMID FRAMES Our injected grilamid frames offer low weight, flexibility and durability. ACETATE FRAMES Our high quality acetate frames are hand sculpted from premium acetate. HYDROPHILIC RUBBER The anti-slip rubber inserts at the temples and the adjustable nose piece, made of hydrophilic rubber, keeps the frame firmly in place with every movement. RX-ABILITY RX-able frames are compatible with prescription lenses within the corrective range. This means an optician or retailer can order tinted lenses with any prescription (within the stated range) from their lens supplier. The retailer can also contact Zeiss to get tinted lenses with the desired prescription. Note that lens material may differ. A complete RX-ability analysis made by Zeiss is available on demand.

About Resistance

The level of riding has increased significantly over the past few years. The speeds are faster, the jumps are bigger and the rides are more technical than ever before. This evolution has placed greater demands on your equipment, which has required us to take a holistic view on mountain bike safety. Safety has always been the driving force at POC. We are constantly challenging the traditional way of thinking and are always looking at new ways to promote safety. With our strong history in helmets and body armor, we have always developed products with a specific user and activity in mind. This approach has been translated into the Resistance products to support the level of protection needed for the specific ride. There are a lot of aspects to consider when developing jerseys, pants, shorts and jackets for mountain bike riding. It is a complex challenge where protection and durability have to be paired with flexibility,breathability and freedom of movement - all while maintaining a low weight. To meet our uncompromising vision for Resistance, we have invested a lot of time to learn more and create a deeper understanding of the risks associated with MTB riding. We have investigated the possibilities to provide something new and relevant and have gained valuable knowledge of different fabrics, structures and materials. This process has given us a clear idea what to focus on and how to utilize the fabrics and develop products which go beyond MTB apparel as we know it today and to better support your ride. The Resistance Strong Jersey offers comfort, protection and performance and is constructed from lightweight and moisture wicking nylon fabric. The shoulders and outer arms are made from durable polyester jacquard knitted fabric and the strategic combination of fabrics allow for a breathable and technical MTB jersey. The Resistance Strong Jersey comes in a relaxed fit to accommodate elbow pads as well as a back protector.

The technical Resistance Mid 3-Qtr Jersey is made from lightweight and breathable nylon fabric and features a polyester jacquard knitted fabric at the elbows for protection and durability. The Resistance Mid Shorts are ergonomically designed and the articulated fit allows for full flexibility. OC was founded in 2005 and made its first entry, addressing the ski racing market, at the ISPO trade show where it also introduced its mission. POC’s new ideas and solutions to improve ski racing safety, by reducing the force transmitted to the brain and body in case of a crash, gained a lot of attention. The concepts, technologies, and materials used and implemented for the helmets and body armor were developed in close collaboration with POC Lab; POC’s scientific forum that consists of some of the world’s foremost sports medicine experts, brain scientists and specialists in spinal cord injuries. In 2014, POC announced the launch of AVIP - its first specific road bike range. AVIP stands for Attention, Visibility, Interaction and Protection and is POC’s most ambitious initiative to date,

promoting safety for road cyclists. To achieve higher levels of performance, and balance the expertise gained from POC Lab in safety and medicine, POC established WATTS Lab. WATTS Lab brings together knowledge from specialists in aerodynamics and is a highly specialized department whose objective is to optimize POC products, allowing the cyclist to go faster, using less energy. At the beginning of 2014, POC announced a three-year partnership to become the official helmet and eyewear supplier of Garmin-Sharp Pro Cycling team. At the same time, POC established an exclusive partnership with Volvo Car Group to explore new ideas within safety and design. Throughout the years, POC has received more than 40 prestigious international safety, design, innovation and business awards.
