Dear Weston Residents,

As the summer winds down and we prepare for the 2022-2023 school year, I hope everyone enjoyed a fun and relaxing time with family and friends. I had the opportunity to spend some vacation time with my children and grandchildren, who are grown and live out of state. I think we can all agree, there is something unique and wonderful about summer months that allow us to sit back...enjoy the beautiful weather, regroup, and reconnect. That said, there is also excitement about getting back to school and returning to the classroom. Most especially for your school age children. The anticipation of

‘who’ will be my teacher? Will my friends be in my class? What clubs am I going to join? What activities do I want to do this year? These questions and many more are important for your children, and you. I know we are all excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for your children this next year.

I am honored to write an introduction for the Sports and Activities Weston Directory, celebrating their 20th year of publications for our community. I offer congratulations to the team and most especially, Isabel Magette, the Publisher, that does incredible work in identifying programs available in our community. The directory provides invaluable information for our residents in selecting the best choices for your children’s interest this upcoming year.

Additionally, I ask that all families/parents sign up for the Newsday Tuesday

Newsletter and the eNotifications on our City of Weston website (www.WestonFL. org). Like this publication, both resources provide residents with updated and accurate information about events in our City, most especially issues concerning

Public Safety. Lastly, I want to wish all of you the best as we venture into a new academic year! If at any time I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at mbrown@westonfl.org. In closing, it is without question, we are all very fortunate to live in the Great State of Florida and the beautiful City of Weston! All the best to you, your children, and our teachers!

Until next time,

Margaret “Peggy” Brown

Mayor, City of Weston
