MAKING THE CASE FOR HDR AND UHD Mike Johnson, Dome Productions, Director, Engineering Johnson has been part of Dome’s growth for more than two decades. During this time, the company has moved from analog to digital and from SD to HD and, most recently, has entered UHD production. Johnson has led engineering planning and development for mobile production and technical facilities and managed fiber-network services, all in support of video/audio-media delivery for host-broadcast events, major-league–sports productions, and award-show presentations across North America. Recent activities include pursuit of further advances in UHD and HDR productions, along with implementation of VR elements in support of Dome’s broadcast partners.

Ward is responsible for sports operations and content management for the DirecTV and U-verse video platforms, as well as for media productions at AT&T’s Dallas headquarters. He is also responsible for on-air operations for AT&T’s original entertainment. In his role, Ward oversees the on-air operations for AT&T Entertainment, including Audience Network, the premier destination for compelling original content and critically acclaimed series, only on DirecTV and U-verse. Ward also oversees the Sports Operations Group at the Los Angeles Broadcast Center and has helped transform the LABC from a turnaround facility to a full-fledged production house.

FOX SPORTS FIFA WORLD CUP PREVIEW Kevin Callahan, Fox Sports, VP, Field Operations/Engineering Callahan oversees Fox’s FIFA World Cup operations and engineering, as well as operations for Fox’s entire soccer portfolio. In this role, he is tasked with providing coverage of events large and small, both on location and from the studio. He joined Fox Sports Media Group in summer 2013 to oversee technical planning and development/deployment of new technology. For the previous seven years, Callahan was the engineer in charge of Game Creek Video’s Fox trucks. In that time, he served as EIC for NFL on Fox, including Fox’s coverage of Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLV, and NASCAR on Fox.

Neal joined Fox Sports in 2012 and is responsible for all aspects of the FIFA World Cup on Fox and other high-profile events involving the U.S. national teams. Under Neal’s guidance, Fox Sports set new viewership records for its coverage of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup and 2016 Copa America Centenario.
