WELCOME

The future is bright. The future is now. The SVG College Summit again falls at a captivating time in the continued evolution and growth of the college sports video industry. After years of planning and millions of dollars invested, ACC institutions are ready to launch the ESPN-supported ACC Network. Meanwhile, conferences of all sizes are finding new distribution methods in an increasingly over-the-top consumption world. There’s a new shape to this business, but the essential basics of high-quality storytelling remain the same. This year’s event agenda is SVG to the core: honoring how we got here, while preparing you for what’s to come. Our legacy awards celebrate people whom, without them, most of us would not be here today. We’re honored to celebrate both Raycom Sports with the SVG/ NACDA Technology Leadership Award and American Athletic Conference administrator and former ESPN executive Tom Odjakjian with the SVG College Pioneer Award. As for the future, look no further than our completely new programming on Friday morning dedicated to educating you on the essentials of producing a live esports event. At our Esports Production U, experts with experience in the space are here to take you under the hood of their productions so you can prepare yourselves for the day esports hits your campus (if it hasn’t already). Finally, while technology and storytelling have long been cornerstones of this event, never has it been more critical for you to have a firm understanding of the crossroads of video production and its impact on your institution’s overall business model. That’s why we’re so excited to have Syracuse University Director of Athletics John Wildhack as this year’s keynote speaker. With experience on both sides of the aisle, he has a wealth of knowledge and unique perspective to share with you. So take the time to reflect on and celebrate your accomplishments, but also come prepared to network, learn, and plan, because the future is already here.

OUTSTANDING CANON QUALITY FOR BOTH THE PRESENT AND FUTURE. When choosing Canon 4K UHD broadcast lenses for a production, you’re not just getting leading-edge 4K specifications and resolution. Their exceptional sharpness significantly improves standard 1080i/720P HD video quality (when compared to traditional HD lenses), as well as enhances that of 1080P HD – which has higher vertical resolution than standard HD. Equally important is the HDR and WCG capabilities inherent in their optical designs. An investment today in Canon’s 4K UHD broadcast lenses provides immediate image quality dividends in today’s standard HD, tomorrow’s possible 1080P with HDR/WCG, while also future proofing for a downstream transition to 4K UHD with HDR/WCG.
