SVG COLLEGE SUMMIT: VIRTUAL CAMPUS 2020

Innovation isn’t postponed! There are few dates on the calendar that we at Sports Video Group (SVG) look forward to more than the three days that we get to spend with you — the college sports video community — at the SVG College Summit in Atlanta. Naturally, in light of the suspension of play across collegiate athletics in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we, instead, needed to shift to an all-virtual format to continue to serve you. We hope this event brings you some excitement during a tough time. We all love the thrill of live sports. We wouldn’t put in all of the hustle that is required to succeed in this business if we didn’t. We empathize that these past three months may have been the most difficult of your career. But, as we attempt to come back from this, the challenges are just beginning. This year’s SVG College Summit: Virtual Campus 2020 is dedicated to getting you and your teams back to work safely and efficiently; whatever that means in your respective campuses and states. From control room logistics to storytelling creativity, we don’t promise to have all the answers (spoiler: no one does), but this community is here get through this together. Hopefully, this year’s program will bring questions to light that you hadn’t even considered and you can begin working through them with your teams. We also know that one of the major draws of the in-person SVG College Summit is the chance to browse and demo the latest in video-production technology designed to meet your specific needs as a college sports video pro. You can still do that! Take a visit to our online Tech Portals to check out the latest product demos, watch indepth interviews, read valuable resources, and much more. So, in conclusion, no, this isn’t the same. We acknowledge that. But we certainly hope these four days offer you a valuable opportunity to reconnect with your colleagues, plan for the year ahead, and remind yourself why we love our jobs. The year ahead will be challenging, but we believe if anyone can solve these challenges, it’s this community. This is a time where creative problem solving will not only win the day — it will be essential. And when you feel like you need help? We’ll be here for you.

TUESDAY | YOUR EVOLVING CONTROL ROOM Tuesday offers an in-depth look at how our video-production homes continue to rapidly change. Whether your team operates out of a robust control room, with a nimble production van/flypack, or you are making magic with limited resources, we break down the latest in live event video production infrastructure and take a look at where the industry is headed. sponsored by 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Change Starts at Home – Preparing Your Facilities For a Post-COVID World and How IP Can Help

How do you produce your live events? From a centralized control room? A mobile production facility? With a flypack? WEDNESDAY | YOUR LIVE EVENT PRODUCTIONS On Wednesday, we talk our bread and butter: games. Our treasured live games will return and, when they do, we’ll be there to tell their stories better than ever before. Whether it’s through interpersonal relationships or technological enhancements, how are collegiate athletics live event producers not only presenting a live broadcast of the game, but telling the deeper stories of their student athletes, coaches, and campus to add a deeper layer of engagement to the live game broadcast?

NETWORKING HAPPY HOUR

Prior to the coronavirus outbreak, the sports video industry’s accepted definition of “at-home” or “REMI” production looked quite similar to a centralized control room on a college campus. Now, as the college industry hopes to get back to live events, collegiate content creators are looking for creative solutions to deploy a production crew safely with solutions that may take some positions out of the control room environment. Technology experts gather to share their learnings from the past couple of months to help you make decisions on what “at-home” tools may help you get your live events back on the air safely and efficiently.

Come spend some time with your industry colleagues and share when you’ve been planning for how to execute your productions in a post-COVID world.
