It’s getting cold in New York City, which means one thing: We’re all in Miami! Now that the area is crowded with a ton of great singles, it’s time to break down my tips on how to reel in someone great.
Fun fact: I technically met my husband in Miami! We ran into each other at the Soho Beach House New Year’s Eve party, which I recommend if you’re single and looking. But before we skip ahead to New Year’s Eve, let’s talk Art Basel. You’re either in Miami because you love art, you work in art, or you just love the parties. Either way, here are some important things to remember:
OPT FOR AN OUTDOOR PARTY VS. AN INDOOR CLUB
This can be hard, especially considering there are so many great clubs in Miami. But you’re not going to have a meaningful conversation with anyone while you’re screaming over loud techno music and getting spilled on by your drunk friend. There are tons of amazing, more lowkey parties. So find one!
ACTUALLY GO TO SEE THE ART
You’re at one of the premier art shows in the world with 250 of the world’s leading galleries showing the works of 4,000 artists. If you don’t go see the art, you’re wasting your money. Plus, that’s where the people you want to meet will be. There’s nothing like an old-fashioned meet cute at your favorite painting.
ATTEND AN ART BASEL–RELATED EVENT
Art Basel isn’t just about walking around and looking at art. It’s also about learning about art, speaking about culture, attending panels, and more! Get tickets to something that isn’t just at the Convention Center, and you never know who you’ll meet or what you’ll learn.
LIVE MUSIC IS A GOOD IDEA
If you’re looking for something a little classier than your typical party, the Faena always has amazing live music at night in its Living Room lounge. Soho Beach House also tends to have Questlove or some other incredible DJs spinning, so look out for what parties are being thrown there, too.
DON’T FORGET TO RELAX
Lest we forget, we are in Miami, after all. And there’s a huge and beautiful beach! Take at least one day off from the art to work on your tan. Or head to the spa. You’ll look a lot cuter at the parties or events that night with a little glow after some R&R. And the beach chairs are usually in such close proximity to one another that you may even meet someone while relaxing! T
