Ilysa Steinberg
Ilysa, what a summer! You were working events every weekend. How did you and your team manage?
The key to our success is “Nobody can do it alone,” and I stand by this! Time management has been crucial in order to give each of our clients the attention they deserve. Each week and weekend is planned accordingly with the right support in place. No, I don’t attend every event, but it will always have the Askilysa touch.
You work a lot with our cover star, Isaac Boots. Tell us about how you collaborate on his live workouts?
The exciting part is the natural relationship Isaac has with so many of our clients; it’s become seamless to work with his team. His husband and manager, Jeffrey O’Brecht, has brought an exciting new spin to our business, creating unique experiences for each class. The Askilysa team is extremely flexible with service, set up, and clean up, whether it’s in a backyard tent for activewear brand Terez or the center of the Southampton Arts Center.
What’s amazing about your parties is that the food is actually delicious!
We take this very seriously! It’s all about clean eating and creating savory moments. Our chefs shop at local farms and the docks—from Westhampton to Montauk—to get the freshest ingredients for our clients. The preparation for an outstanding delicious dinner starts way in advance. Our chefs give their heart and soul!
What are your top Labor Day entertaining tips?
Labor Day is a time for family, fun, and back-to-school mode, which can be a difficult balance. I recommend simple, easy-toclean-up long lunches. Call Askilysa to make it easier!
Your company is constantly growing. What makes you proud about your progress?
When I step back and watch the team we have created. Our core group has dedication, professionalism, and love for our clients. Our No. 1 rule is the client comes first. And No. 2 is always help your teammate! T

DINE AWAY AT MARK’S OFF MADISON
Mark’s Off Madison (M.O.M.) is the new restaurant from Chef Mark Strausman, best known as the creator and managing director of Fred’s at Barneys New York and Campagna restaurant. M.O.M. is the culmination of Strausman’s career, the place where he’s combining, in a quintessentially New York way, all the culinary strands of his career—the classical European and rustic Italian dishes of his training, along with the traditional Jewish foods of his childhood in Queens. You’ll find many of the “greatest hits” from his career on the menu, such Mark Strausman as the entrée salads, Belgian fries, and Estelle’s chicken soup. M.O.M. is both a restaurant and a bakery, and bakes all its own breads and desserts. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of the bagels being made, as a large window in the dining room overlooks the working bakery! This fall, M.O.M. will feature local seafood out of Montauk, as well as continue to bring in the best locally grown produce of the season from the Greenmarket. The restaurant provides home catering services, and will offer special menus for the Jewish holidays and Thanksgiving. 41 Madison Ave., NYC
