Philosophy/Mission: To foster an environment of respect, responsibility, and compassion for all animals through education, legislation and leadership. To care for the homeless, to defend the abused, and to fight with unrelenting diligence for recognition of the integrity of all animals.
Community Involvement: OHS is becoming nationally known for its expertise in deploying during times of disaster. OHS deployed personnel 15 times In 2018 to help animals displaced by hurricanes, tornadoes and wildfires. They keep a FEMA trained team of 121 staff and volunteers at the ready to respond to help pets in times of disaster.

Claim to Fame/ Signature Product or Service: In 2018, the Oregon Humane Society celebrated 150 years of saving lives. OHS is the largest and oldest humane society in the Pacific Northwest. OHS is not affiliated with any other humane society, and relies entirely on private donations for everything they do. OHS found homes for 11,296 pets last year, has a save rate of 98%, investigated nearly 1,000 animal cruelty complaints, and brought humane education programs to over 14,000 people.
