The Gazette Charities Foundation-El Pomar Foundation
Empty Stocking Fund provides resources for local health and human service agencies in the Pikes Peak region on the front lines of helping people in crisis and assisting others in attaining self-sufficiency. Over the past 40 years, the Fund has raised more than $27 million. Administrative costs are generously covered by The Anschutz Foundation, Gazette Charities Foundation, The Gazette, El Pomar Foundation, Pikes Peak Community Foundation, Joseph Henry Edmonson Foundation and Add Staff. All donations multiply by up to half due to generous matching grants from El Pomar Foundation, The Bruni Foundation and Chapman Foundation.
Every dollar donated to the Empty Stocking Fund grows up to 45% through matching grants.

From birth to seniors, our partner agenices are meeting needs in the Pikes Peak region to include food, housing, mental health, military services, medical care, crisis relief, education, transportation, advocacy and so much more.

The support from Empty Stocking Fund provides financial assistance through the Home Fire Campaign for individuals in El Paso and Teller counties who have experienced loss after a home fire. In the immediate aftermath, the Red Cross focuses on providing safe shelter, food, relief supplies, spiritual care and health and emotional support – Red Cross also provides financial support directly to people who need extra help.

Provides installation of one smoke alarm for someone who is deaf or hard of hearing; these alarms use multiple sensory stimuli such as flashing lights, low frequency audio alerts or vibrations.

he relationship between Empty Stocking Fund and Care and Share allows the organization to partner with 115 of their own partner agencies spanning 29 counties across Southern Colorado. The food they provide their partners and programs throughout the Pikes Peak region allow said partners to stretch their dollars for work they do best – every $1 they receive is equal to five meals.

This funding gives Catholic Charities the flexibility to support whatever resources are needed to perform their work most effectively.

ith the generous help of the Empty Stocking Fund, CPCD has been able offer quality medical, dental, behavioral health and family support services to children in its early childhood classrooms. CPCD offers early childhood education to children through three core programs: Head Start, Early Head Start and the Colorado Universal Preschool Program, and without these, many low-income children would not be prepared for elementary school, putting them at risk of school failure. of Central Colorado

Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountain utilizes Empty Stocking Fund dollars to support three important programs: Foster Care, which serves children temporarily placed in out-ofhome care by the county department due to abuse or neglect, as well as Unaccompanied Refugee Minors, KPC Respite Center, which is the only emergency respite center in Colorado, providing temporary crisis and planned child care for infants and young children at no cost to their parents or guardians, and SafeCare, which offers in-home childproofing, parent-child relationship enrichment, and more, to families of children 0-5.

Empty Stocking Fund dollars also help support seasonal services like VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), school supply drives, Thanksgiving and Christmas uncooked dinner giveaways and the Home for the Holiday program.

mpty Stocking Fund dollars support the work Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center provides military and veteran families. This includes transition and employment services that support active-duty soldiers who are transitioning to civilian careers and veterans looking for satisfying careers following their service, as well as employment support for military spouses and dependents, behavioral health and wellness for anyone military affiliated, support during emergency situations such as homelessness, food insecurity, utility shut-off, legal trouble and more.

All f unds from the Empty Stocking Fund go directly into the Family Self-Sufficiency Program. In FY 202223, Partners in Housing served 139 families totaling 444 individuals who have reached goals like moving into stable, long-term housing, increasing their income and employment situations and earning a GED, college degree or professional certificate. Everyone served at Partners in Housing increased their overall self-sufficiency showing more confidence, accountability and the application of new life skills.

The main programs that Empty Stocking Fund dollars help support are Hospice Care, Palliative Care, Pediatric Pathways, the Center for Grief and Loss and Complementary therapies. Pikes Peak Hospice focuses on enhancing comfort and helping people with life-limiting illness live life to the fullest. They provide care and support to holistically address the physical, emotional and spiritual needs during the last phase of life. They also provide support to patient families and loved ones.

Their advocates work to empower victims with all the resources they need to transition to stability and independence and provide safety planning and resource referrals to clients in need.

This year, Empty Stocking Fund dollars have enabled Westside CARES to amplify its housing navigation program by 62% year over year, resulting in 25 previously homeless neighbors attaining permanent housing in 2022 and 35 neighbors placed into housing already in 2023.

The YMCA believes that all youth should have access to safe, supervised spaces where they can learn, grow and make choices that support a healthy lifestyle.
