For first-time job seekers, the workforce is unknown territory that can seem like a treasure hunt with no map. As young professionals, we put lots of pressure on ourselves to make the right career moves. “I have to stay at this company for at least two years to get experience.” “I can’t hop from job to job because it will look bad on my resume.” “I should do this job I don’t enjoy because it makes me seem ‘diverse.’” With the stresses of bills, loans, families and friends in our lives it is hard to know what the right choice ever is. Here are a few tips that can help in your career decision-making.

WORK IS WHAT YOU DO NOT WHO YOU ARE

When work may seem challenging, it doesn’t mean your whole life has to fall apart. It just means that one part of your life could use improvement. You want to be satisfied and feel challenged and fulfilled by your work, but it’s important to not put all the pressure on your job to make you 100 percent happy.

ALWAYS SEE THE BIG PICTURE

It’s important to take a step back and say, “Am I too comfortable here?” Why? Complacency is the second you stop learning. While searching for the right job, the most important factor to consider is that the company offers new challenges and the ability to learn new skills and practices that will help you further your career, whether it be at that company or a future job. If you are no longer learning, then it may be time for you to move on.

IT Support Specialist: CorpInfo is seeking a highly skilled IT Support Specialist in the Colorado Springs area with good customer service and troubleshooting skills. This position provides customer facing support on a government contract, supporting HP and Mac desktops, laptops, operating systems, mobile devices, applications, remote access and VOIP phones. This position is responsible for break/fix, helpdesk, and deployments. An active Security Clearance is required. Responsibilities include: •Troubleshoot research, diagnose, document, and resolve technical issues surrounding Windows 7, MS Office applications, email, other special applications, Internet connections, and hardware/peripheral equipment via telephone. •Be able to work independently with little supervision, in a fast-paced environment •Use ticketing system (Service Now) to: document, track, and update the customer to ensure a timely resolution with documented status, communications, and results. •Install hardware and software, ensure that inquiries and problems concerning computers, peripherals, and services are expeditiously resolved •Experience in the deployment of computers in a corporate environment. •Outstanding communication skills, enthusiasm, and ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize support requirements. Qualifications: •Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance is preferred but will consider candidates with Secret or Top Secret •A+ Certification •MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate for Windows 7) or ACMT (Apple Certified Macintosh Technician) •3-5 years of Tier 2 Level Support.
