Programs Throughout the Year No Boundaries 2015 Teen Art Initiative The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art’s No Boundaries Teen Art Initiative brings together elite, motivated students from the Kansas City community to EXPLORE, CREATE, and COLLABORATE. Participants will have the opportunity to: *Explore multiple art genres and mediums (all supplies provided). *Expand creative concepts Practice the art of presentation and constructive critiques. *Learn from and work with visiting artists from the Kemper Museum exhibitions.
*Be mentored by three distinguished artist-educators. The select group of 20 students will enjoy full scholarships to the Program, which has been generously sponsored by Stan Bushman and Ann Canfield, and Charles Helzberg and Sandra Baer. While 16 of these students will be new to the program, 4 students will be returning from the previous session as Teen Mentors. Program participants should be age 13-15 and must be nominated through their school administrative staff or teachers. Chosen students must be able to be present at each of the eight sessions with a willingness to participate and collaborate.
Art(full) Bags and Art Stop! The Art(full) Bag is filled with objects to support and create educational connections to the Museum’s main gallery exhibition. As families view the works in American Montage, they are encouraged to use the hands-on materials for a deeper understanding of the exhibition and the beauty, intention, and meaning of the works of art on view. The next time you swing by the Museum with the kids, stop by the Visitor’s Service Desk to grab an Art Stop card. Each month features two collection works and offers fun facts and guiding comparison questions to encourage learning and sharing.
A variety of free programming for children and families is offered throughout the year. The objective of the Kemper Museum educational programs is to engage children and adults in discussion about contemporary art and how it relates to their lives.
