EMAIL MARKETING PT.1
CHECKLIST TO GET STARTED
GOALS Set clear goals to be clear about what you aim to achieve with email marketing. Do you want to grow your email list, refer traffic to your website or blog? Make sure your goals are attainable and measurable - decide a due date, a value (for example of how many subscribers by certain date) and a general plan on how to meet the goal.
1. PREPARE
TARGET AUDIENCE Before you can start planning your email marketing campaign, you need to be clear about who your target audience is. If you are not sure, a good idea is to do some research through questionnaires, blog posts or social media posts asking people to comment introducing themselves and their interest in you/your company/your product. Too many business owners don’t know exactly who they are targeting, and this can make it or break it for you when using email marketing. It is the basis of everything from crafting your message (topic, phrasing, length), to the design (colour, font etc.) and your opt-in. It all needs to be adapted to compel and attract whoever is most likely to buy from you.
OPT-INS Create give-aways that makes it easy for your audience to say yes to giving you their email address. Incentives should provide a high perceived value, keeping your target audience in mind. Examples of opt-ins: Ebook/guide Checklists Free products

Whatever company you choose - make sure to look for brilliant deliverability as well as great customer service. This will go a long way!
2. EMS
Examples free EMS: MailChimp Benchmark VerticalResponse
Examples paid EMS: Drip Insusionsoft Campaign Monitor
SETUP 1. Your email list Transfer and set-up your email list according to instructions from your email marketing provider. 2. Sender name & email address EMAIL: When setting up your email address, chose one that is monitored and try to avoid a 'no reply' address - you want to build credibility and trust and want your subscribers to know they can reach you on the address. SENDER NAME: people want to do business with people, so let them know who is sending the email. Also a big part of building trust.
