ACTION REPLAY

SQUIRES GATE 1-3 WYTHENSHAWE TOWN

Report by James Ashton

It was the visitors who started on top, with three opportunities inside the first ten minutes. Firstly a half chance was volleyed well over from the edge of the box, before Aaron Dwyer was denied by Nathan Pennington after being found from a cross from the right. The visitors took a deserved lead on 20 minutes. A ball over the top was poked past Pennington, with Brad Byrne bundling it in on the line. Pennington produced a brilliant point blank save to keep out a header from Dwyer, before Josh Westwood levelled the score on 40 minutes at the other end. An initial free kick from Ryan Riley was cleared, but Riley hooked the ball back towards the box, with Pett flicking the ball in behind for Westwood who looked the volley smartly over the goalkeeper. Pennington had no chance though on 53 minutes, with a volley from distance by Matty Bryan flying incredibly into the top corner to put Wythenshawe back in front. He again had no chance though on 88 minutes, with a corner headed into the top corner from six yards out to seal the win for Wythenshawe.
