Digital Artwork - Stuck in a loop
Approach to color - I often use vibrant colours in my personal work resonating strongly with the the pop art era, characterised by the bold and expressive use of colours and lines.
Approach - These sketches are done directly with pen on paper. All of the above illustration are live drawings.
1.1 The craft book Project - Working as an illustrator for a craft book in collaboration with the Fingerprint Collective and Craft Canvas, the project aimed to contemporarise Charmakari, a craft from Andhra Pradesh while deriving from the traditional motifs and forms. Composition 1 (below) - The first composition depicted traditional scenes of the epic Ramayana typical to the craft. The scenes were composed with the colours characteristic to this craft. The holes, decorative aspects, shading pattern, and, the overlaps of the joints were incorporated to give the illustration an authentic flavour of the craft represented.
Composition 2 (below) - This composition is the artist’s intrepretation of the craft, Tholu Bommalata, which is a shadow puppet theatre performance using leather puppets behind a thin curtain. The composition depicts a contemporary scene of the characters of ramayana in a frisbee match with Hanuman, Ganesh, Rama and, Sita in one team, in offence with Ravana and his asuras on the other, in defence. Challenges - This is not my style of drawing. To adapt to the traditional drawing of style took some time and research. As a part of the process I went to play a match of frisbee in Surat and did alot of process drawings drawing up postures of play, later transferring them in the puppets.

Collage work - String of thoughts Approach - To tell a story of today’s times using newspaper cutouts to capture string of thoughts. Juxtaposing words and images changed their former roles and established new relations in the changed context.
Approach - Awareness posters on recent events and news articles while making them engaging for a young crowd.
2.1 For the passerby Project - For the passerby was a graffiti project aimed to bring art on the streets for the onfoot passerby’s of the city. Inspired from a Nike ad’s tagline on a busy crossroad, “Just do it”, which felt rather personal, a manifesto was formulated outlining the scope of the project and the content it aimed to put out. The graffiti was composed of letters which were short for a passerby to read quickly without stopping. The typeface Helvetica - Bold was chosen for it’s simplicity and boldness. (Unexpected Occurence - The unknown passerby helped out in several occassions participatingin the making of the passerby project). Tools - All the walls were painted with stencil and after trials to avoid errors on the wall. On City Walls Workshop - I took a workshop for 8-9 students on street art in CEPT in which we explored graffity, developed stencils and, beautified dilapitated, unused walls in A’bad. One of the aims of the workshop was also to make students understand the difference between vandalism and street art. Note - The workshop output is not included in the following images.
3. The Labyrinth Project - The labyrinth is a studio project in which I designed a Centre E P T to UN I V E R S Idrama TY of Dramatics. The centre Caimed celebrate not just on stage but in every moment that is performed in the centre. The space exaggerates U N D E R G R A D U AT E T H E S I S moments with the help of optical illusion, obscure glance, bold outbursts of colour, transparency of surfaces and, the drama of light bringing alive SCHOOL OF INTERIOR DESIGN the characters and actors who walk inside the space. It tries to engage both the performer and the observer in a situation where they can interchange their position and become one another.
Site - Cortalim, Goa, India Area - 50m * 20m = 1000 sq. mt. Program - Theatre, Cafe, Rehearsal Space and Exhibition Area Note - The characters are purely for representational purposes. These characters are a creation of Mario Miranda and I don’t have any copyrights or permission to use it. They were used only for educational purposes.
Approach - The studio dealt with the idea of spectacle as the part of the conceptual process. The project being a Centre of Drama constantly enquired about the aspect of memorability induced by the aspect of spectacle in performance. Taking that component and letting it transform through stages of design, the resultant space created a visual and spatial spectacle, as one moved through it.
Approach - The stacked floors creating the labyrinth had a maze like character which was designed to interact with spaces below and above without solidifying any of the 3 floors. The space from inside is felt as a whole and not as separate levels bleeding into one another.
Ground Floor - The Cafe
Ground Floor - Performance Area Note - The project spanned over 5 months. Process drawings, conceptual models and intermediate design stages are not included. These 3d views are of the final outcome of the project.

Fontainhas, Goa 4 Right Bottom - Capturing the movement through the staircase suggesting the direction. Vatican Museum Staircase, Rome
5. Workshop People and art started with some friends making art together on lawns. The idea was simple - to bring people together and make them draw. The big roll of paper instead of individual sheets made sure that people came together responding to each other’s expressions and transforming it together. The participants were encouraged to be intuitive about the drawing process to transcend the censor in their heads with transcendental music playing in the background. Duration - 2 days (morning to evening)
6. Miscellanous With the on going pandemic, the isolation and, the inability to meet up, I started conducting these free sunday online workshops which aimed to bring people together to sketch, paint, create and, imagine. These sessions provided a platform to share each other’s modes of thinking and creating. The sessions varied from observaional line drawing - to - drawing from imagination - to - creating storylines and worlds of our own where the trees were blue, mouths were on top of noses, flowers were faces.
