TV’s favourite female gang are rocking our screens and fashion radar right now‌
Season four of Girls returned on Sunday, and to celebrate, the stars threw a glitzy A-list bash. Fashion power players such as J Crew creative director (and former guest star) Jenna Lyons attended, but it was the leading ladies who brought major fashion factor to proceedings. Lena Dunham rocked a sporty Creatures Of The Wind dress and Jemima Kirke went slinky in Adam Lippes, while Allison Williams opted for Monique Lhuillier and Zosia Mamet donned a scarlet Alexander McQueen number. Welcome back, girls!

Get Her Flat Tum Fast!
Make this your fittest January ever as supermodel Kendall Jenner reveals exactly what she eats and how she trains
hile most of us are still reeling from a month of mince pies and mulled wine, model-of-the-moment Kendall Jenner has been parading her jaw-dropping body over Instagram, frolicking on the beach in Dubai with Gigi Hadid and Selena Gomez. And it leaves just one question on our minds: how does she sustain that long, lean and toned figure? We’ve got the lowdown.
The Flat Tum Workout Revealing her favourite kind of exercise is ‘anything core-related’, Kendall works out four times a week with celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson, who also puts sisters Kim and Khloé through their paces. ‘I do cardio [and] muscle-building,’ says Kendall, who swears by two-minutelong endurance exercises, such as slightly squatting while whipping battle ropes to tone her from top to toe, especially her stomach muscles and upper body. ‘I do a lot of abs work and planking,’ she adds. ‘Being active and fit and keeping busy is kind of ingrained in me.’
Her Personal Trainer Says… Gunnar gets his clients to use their own bodyweight for resistance training. ‘The basics like sit-ups, planks and pushups give you results,’ he says. ‘Crank it up by compounding the basics to work multiple muscle groups. So, do a burpee with a push-up at the bottom and a tuck jump at the top.’ So what can we do to get Kendall-style abs? ‘Hold a plank position for 30 seconds, then touch your knee to the sameside elbow eight to 12 times per side,’ instructs Gunnar.
The Tea-Tox She Swears By Kendall kicks off each morning with a cup of Kusmi Detox Tea (£9.99 for 20 bags, Selfridges.com), a lemongrass-infused green tea, and goes on to drink up to 12 cups throughout the day. It’s said to aid weight loss, debloat your tummy, detoxify and give you a glowing complexion. Diet-wise, it’s ‘loads of fruit, vegetables and lean proteins. Strawberries [are my favourite snack].’ She’s also slammed fad diets, saying: ‘They don’t work. Losing weight is about changing your lifestyle and eating habits.’ Sounds sensible to us!
Kendall’s Gym Hit List n 20-minute run on the treadmill. n Sit-ups x 30, 15 x side crunches each side. n Shallow squats while whipping battle ropes for 2 minutes. n Plank position for 1 minute, then knee to the same side’s elbow, eight to 12 times. n Ab crunches while holding a medicine ball at the top and throwing it at a trampoline for 2 mins. n Weighted cable crunches. Kneel with your back to the weights machine and hold the cables either side of your neck. Pull down as you crunch down, and come back up. n Push-ups to failure.

Free running makes you super fit.’

Get In The Ring Myleene credits her washboard stomach and shapely arms to high-intensity boxing and skipping. ‘Psychologically, it’s amazing to beat the s*** out of the pads,’ she said.
Make Exercise Fun Myleene prefers stress-free workouts. In the gym, she does strength training and cardio to condition her muscles, but also loves dancing and long, brisk walks, adding, ‘I swim with the girls and we try to be active on holiday, too.’ One hot couple: on the beach with Dougie Poynter

Sarah-Jane: ‘IDoShort, IntenseSessionsandeatClean’ Turns out Ms Crawford, 33, is a protein princess with a serious sweet tooth
Sarah, your body is amazing! Are you a gym bunny? Hardly! Last November I was working seven days, living in a hotel on weekends, with barely any time to train. I would eat McDonald’s on the go and didn’t feel great. I wanted to get in shape for The X Factor final and my holiday. Talk us through your training. I go to my gym three to four times a week, but just for 30 minutes. I find it more effective going for a shorter but more intense session. I do pyramid training, where you start with lighter weights then get heavier during the session but lowering the reps. Each session varies to work different muscle groups, but I might do bicep curls,

bench presses, ab crunches, squats and use abductor machines. Do you do much cardio? I find the cross trainer most effective and do 30 minutes every week or two. And your diet… The nutritionist Amelia Freer has taught me about portion control and eating clean. Now I buy everything organic. A typical breakfast would be scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, then chicken salad with brown rice for lunch and fish pie with spinach for dinner. I never eat white bread or pasta, but love chocolate. Are you having a dry January? Yes, I might stay dry until March! It makes me less productive if I drink too often.

Is It Ever A Good Idea To Get Back With Your Ex?
photo: pA photos
As Katy Perry is spotted with her ex John Mayer, two women battle it out…
Yes, you’ll know how to avoid rows
No, there’s a reason why you split up
says fashion and beauty blogger Rosy Ferry, 28
says writer Laura Hills, 28
‘As a woman who not only re-dated an ex, but married him too, I feel I have some authority when I say that often an ex can actually be “the one that got away” – and you may only realise that when you give them a second chance. Katy Perry and John Mayer reportedly split because they were both headstrong and driven in different ways, but that doesn’t mean time hasn’t seen them both grow and mature. Differences that may have got in the way before might not exist any more and, with the hindsight of their last break-up, they’ll know how to avoid provoking each other. When I rekindled my relationship with my now-husband, we both knew what kind of behaviour to avoid if we wanted to get along. We’d broken up because we were too young to cope with a serious relationship – we didn’t know how to compromise or talk things through. But when we got back together three years later, we were older and wiser. I married him within months, and we’ll celebrate our seventh wedding anniversary this year. Be it a quick fling or a longer relationship, I wish Katy Perry all the best.’
‘Like Katy, I know just what it’s like to be tempted back into a relationship that didn’t work out first time around and I have just one piece of advice: don’t do it. When I split up with my boyfriend of a year (after months of arguing), I knew it was for the best. Which is why it came as a huge surprise to my friends – and me – when Almost a year after just a few months later their split, John and Katy have been we decided to catch up, spotted together then spent the whole time reminiscing about “how good we once were”. Before I knew it, we were back on. And while the first few weeks were all PDAs and romantic date nights, it wasn’t long until we fell back into old habits and were bickering about the same old rubbish. The problem with trying again is that it’s easy to forget why you split up in the first place. Sure, it’s hard letting go of someone you once thought of as The One, and it’s only natural that the feelings you might have for each other don’t disappear the moment you split. But what I learnt was that if you had reason to break up in the first place, the chances are those reasons will stand true the second time around. Katy and John need to learn that too.’

alf asleep, I see the familiar blue flash from my iPhone and grab it to read the time – 4.03am. But instead of rolling over and going back to sleep, I can’t resist checking to see who has emailed me. And which of my 7,000 Twitter followers might have contacted me. Within five minutes I’ve answered two emails, checked three news sites, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp

before going back to sleep, comforted by the knowledge I haven’t missed an important life update. It’s the third time I’ve woken up to check my phone, and it won’t be the last. It might sound extreme, but I’m addicted to my iPhone. I sleep with it under my pillow, and by day it’s glued to my hand. At the furthest, I keep it 1ft away when it’s charging – even then I feel anxious if I can’t see the screen. The first thing I do when I wake up is
rapidly. I try reading books so that I can have a break from my screen, but every two pages I’ll pause to check the latest post from one of the 2,288 accounts I’m following on Twitter. The thought of missing something – or that someone may not be able to get through to me – fills me with terror. According to experts, the fear of being without a phone is known as nomophobia. “Smartphones cleverly play to the reward systems of our brain,” says Martin Talks, author of The A-Z of Digital Detoxing. “The beeps, buzzes, vibrations and lights all trigger
Living Online
Even when on holiday or in a restaurant, Niamh is obsessed with keeping up with social media
scroll through my three social media feeds and check various news websites. Then I’ll shower – and check my phone again while towelling off. Blow-drying my hair could be challenging – I wouldn’t be able to hear the beeps – but I’ve mastered holding my mobile in one hand, and the hairdryer in the other. For the rest of the day, I’ll check it every three to four minutes – under the desk in meetings, by my treadmill in the gym. I’m sure that my job has something to do with it. As a newspaper journalist in my hometown of Dublin, I cover everything from current affairs to celebrity interviews, and I do feel that if I don’t know absolutely everything that’s going on in the world, I can’t do my job properly. So in the office, I use my phone to look up news stories and see if anything is breaking on Twitter. But it isn’t just about work – it’s about my social life, too. I’m constantly desperate to know what’s going on in my mates’ worlds. Amazingly, I’m not alone – within five minutes of waking up, 31 per cent of Brits will check their phones, giving it higher priority than eating breakfast or brushing their teeth. But just because we’re all doing it doesn’t mean it’s good for us. Since I got my first smartphone at 17 I’ve been addicted, though back then it was more about texting than checking Facebook. My family and friends do roll their eyes, and it hurts when my sister jokes that I can’t babysit her 18-month-old son because she knows I’ll be on my phone so much – I know she really means it. But while comments like that do make it hit home how excessive my addiction is, I also find them irritating because I don’t think it’s that unusual. After all, at home my two flatmates and I can easily go hours without speaking because we’re on our iPhones. And even if someone hasn’t got my full attention, I’m perfectly capable of holding a conversation while scrolling through Facebook. I think it shows a level of intimacy when you can comfortably be on your phone and not have to talk to who you’re with. That’s why I’m happy to check my phone during dates – and it doesn’t bother me if a guy does either. I don’t think it’s rude at all. It’s funny, because the only time I don’t check my phone is when I’m with somebody who I’m besotted with – so I know I must be capable of breaking the habit. I guess deep down I just don’t want to.’

Taylor Swift ‘Lena Dunham Helped Me Become A Feminist’ Lena struck up a friendship with Taylor by direct messaging her on Twitter
WorldMags.net
Taylor Swift Interview It’s a brand new year, but Taylor’s still taking on the haters – and sticking by her fans
CREDIT
he hosts albumlistening parties for fans in her own home and her idea of the perfect ‘mate date’ is scoffing burgers in the park. Yep, Taylor Swift really is our kind of woman. The country singer-turned-pop princess has been penning songs for Sony since the tender age of 14. Now 25, her fifth album 1989 (released in October last year), flew in at No 1 in the UK and US and sold a remarkable 1.3 million copies in its first week. And we still can’t stop listening to it. While Taylor’s had her fair share of stick in the press, as always, she knows just how to, er, shake it off. ‘You can’t let others’ opinions of who they think you are define you… the best thing is to let it go, move forward and live your own life,’ says the singer. Here, Taylor lets us in on the inspiration for her ‘sick beats’, her attitude to being single (and happy!) and reminds us that feminists are still allowed to shop…
Taylor, now that 1989 has reached so many fans, is the pressure on to always inspire them? I’ve always tried to stay very close to my fans, arranging meetings and showing people that I really do care and appreciate their support. I also want to conduct myself in a way that lives up to my own expectations and is respectful of how much my fans believe in me. Is it hard to stay positive in the face of so much press attention? There have been times when I’ve been down and wondering why certain things have been written or said about me. I was never the cool kid at school and I understand how hard it can be if you feel that you don’t fit in. But fitting in is not what you should be aiming for in life. It seems like that’s the nature of our culture, though. People want to take you down and it’s up to you not to let that affect you. You’ve got to stand your ground and prove you’re having way more fun than they are.
WorldMags.net
Do you think social media has made it easier for ‘haters’? Someone can have a terrible day at work, feel awful about themselves, come home, get drunk and go call someone ugly on Instagram. If people don’t have anyone to talk to about [their problems], they go online and just say wicked, gross, mean-spirited things about other people. Did you want to give a message of female empowerment in the album? I want to encourage people not to let their fears stop them from accomplishing their goals. If you feel like things aren’t going well, change your approach. For women, it can just be something basic, like changing your look and exploring your personality to find out what makes you happiest in life. We can all feel like nothing seems to be working out, but that’s when we
I always try to show my fans that I really do appreciate their support need to inspire ourselves and make things happen. You’ve spoken previously about how Lena Dunham made you rethink your attitude towards feminism… I’d always had a problem with the term before – to some people, it’s come to mean that you’re anti-men, rather than being in favour of equal rights for both men and women. I believe in equality and I think more and more young women today are less afraid of being labelled ‘feminists’ in that sense. You’ve become good pals with Lena, haven’t you? And singer Lorde. Lena has become a good friend of mine. Even though she’s known for being a feminist, she’s also my best shopping

Is Taylor The Most Popular Person In Pop? That Swifty’s got a lot of famous friends, hasn’t she? Cara Delevingne: They both dated Harry Styles, but there’s no bad blood between Taylor and Cara, 22. After meeting at a Victoria’s Secret show in 2013, they became firm friends. Looks like Cara’s showing Taylor some of her poses.
I’m still too optimistic in love, but I just want someone who’ll be there for me because your work reflects your openness, but you can also fall out of favour for those same qualities. Does the movie have a message for young people in the same way that your music does? So many of my fans write to me saying that they’re having a tough time with life. I just wish I could tell them that happiness is not a constant thing. We live for these fleeting moments of happiness, and each one is worth it. I think that’s what they’ll take away when they watch the movie. Talking of happiness – how are you feeling about love, romance and relationships right now? I’m still way too optimistic in love, just like every Sagittarius [laughs]! When I fall in love, I’m naive enough to believe the things that guys say to me. My ideal man would be someone who’s sweet, but also tough… just someone who’ll be there for me. But what I’ve learned is that just because someone is cute and wants to date you, that’s not a reason to sacrifice your independence and allow everyone to say whatever they want about you. I’m just not going to do that anymore. Taylor’s new album 1989 is out now.

Lorde: Taylor and Lorde became BFFs despite Lorde, 17, once saying that Taylor was a bad role model. Apparently Taylor won Lorde round after sending flowers when her debut single Royals went to No 1. ‘I was floored,’ Lorde said of the kind gesture.
Karlie Kloss: After striking up a friendship over Twitter, Taylor and supermodel Karlie, 22, had us green with envy when they took a road trip around California last March.
Lena Dunham: Taylor credits 28-year-old actress and director Lena with helping her find really cool stuff. ‘Lena always knows great websites and shops at great stores,’ she says. So that’s where she gets her inspiration…

adviser! Lorde and I became friends as soon as we met. We were both in New York and had burgers in the park. In terms of friendship and loyalty, we’re very similar. You’ve ventured into acting with a role in recent film The Giver. Were you drawn to your character Rosemary in any particular way? I really related to how fragile and vulnerable she is – the way artists tend to be. You can have great success

Lauren’s Skirt
This pop of pastel pink has us getting all excited for spring and we love how Lauren’s teamed it with navy blue. The triangular front slit and diagonal zip make this skirt seriously fashion-forward and it’ll work with everything from white shirts to silky camis and knits.
Knee-highs are a fashion classic, and Taylor shows how to work the smart style for day. Making her already long legs seem even longer, these boots are flattering and great with jeans, while being super practical.
Styling Tips
1 2 3
Try these beauties with a knee-length pencil skirt and bare legs for a smart feel. Wear with your LBD for a fresher look than your usual high heels. Complement the aubergine tone with powder blue to create maximum impact.

Mono Windowpane: Spring’s Hot Check Queen of style Olivia P has got us ditching the tartan for black on white windowpane checks. Here’s three ways to wear the new print…
1 2 3
The co-ord trend is still going strong, and a monochrome palette means two pieces worn together won’t look OTT. Lift your windowpane pieces with a hit of colour from separates or accessories. Primary brights like red and blue work well. Don’t be afraid to clash with another print, like Olivia has with her snakey heels. Try a less bold pattern to create a contrast.

We all love a flattering maxi dress that skims over our bumps, but floaty styles are usually a summer-only style fixture – until now. This season, maxis have sleeves, meaning they can be worn all year round. As seen at Chloé and Etro, the 70s style can easily be replicated without breaking the bank, thanks to the likes of Mango and DP. Short, full length or bell sleeved, it’s up to you. Try layering shorter-sleeved styles with fine knits now. To ramp up the boho vibe, throw on a suede biker or furry gilet.

Beauty Editor Sam’s news on all things gorgeous
Thought you’d kicked spots back in your teens? Well, for most of us (44% of women in the UK, to be exact) adult acne is one beauty dilemma that just won’t quit. Until now… Holy Grail Treatment Eau Thermale Avène’s Cleanance K Gel-Crème, £11, is an exfoliating leave-on gel that hydrates my skin (so I can skip on moisturiser), deeply cleanses pores and balances oil production – all of which means no more spots. The SpliT endhiding Faux BOB
Are your split ends starting to show? Fret not! You don’t need to book in for a trim just yet – instead, try this rolled-under bob. Start with a side-parting to give it a 20s feel, then twirl the ends under using your fingers as a guide, à la Dries Van Noten. To secure the style, invest in some ASOS Large Kirby Grips, £3, and weave them into the hair at the nape of the neck, so they’re totally invisible. Set with KMS California Maximum Hold Hairspray, £14, to keep your style locked down.
The TWO-MinuTe ROpe plaiT
If you’re fed up with your regular plait, look no further than the rope plait (aka, the easiest, quickest plait created). For Moschino-style pigtails, part your hair down the middle, and comb Unite Elevate Mousse, £18.50, through the mid-lengths. Split each side in two and twirl the sections around each other, keeping them tight to avoid any bits unravelling. Tie the ends with an elastic the same colour as your hair, and fix with Lea Journo Voilà Finishing Spray, £21. It contains good-for-you hair oils to nourish damaged locks.

The perfecT braided Messy bun
At Dolce & Gabbana, the models’ hair looked perfect, but it only took stylists minutes to create. The cheat? The braided bun at the back, of course! First, rub Sassoon Professional Texture Refine, £13.50, through the front sections, then tuck it behind your ears and strands will bend into a natural wave. Add a spritz of Swell Ultimate Volume Dry Shampoo, £20, to the crown and massage it in to create height. Then, whip the ends into a plait and twist it around to create a bun. If you’ve got short hair, just pin the ends up at the nape of the neck, et voilà!
The OvernighT MerMaid Wave
cReDIT
Think you can only get perfect waves with hours of tonging? Think again. The mermaid wave, as seen at Giorgio Armani, can be created by simply plaiting, sleeping and unravelling – yes, really! It works best on slightly damp hair but, to avoid frizzing, apply a pea-sized amount of Argan+ Super Smooth Serum, £6.99, to mid-lengths and ends. The thickness of your braids will indicate how large your wave will be. For a size similar to the catwalk, take 2in-thick sections. Then, in the morning, mist Smooth Sexy Hair Smooth & Seal Anti-Frizz & Shine Spray, £16.95, all over to give your hair hold and a serious gloss boost.

Moisturising Body Mists Up your hydration with these conditioning sprays, one spritz is all you need for super-soft skin
1
Crabtree & Evelyn
words: GABrIELLE dYEr phoTo: pIxELEYEs
La Source Refreshing Body Mist HHH Look’s Sam: Free of parabens and mineral oils, this body mist is perfect for sensitive skin. The aquatic scent left me dreaming of holidays. Octavia: A few sprays of this beachy body mist cooled and softened my skin, but the hydration isn’t long-lasting and the sea scent is a bit strong.
2
Roger & Gallet
Jean-Marie Farina Eau Des Bienfaits Body Mist HHHH Look’s Sam: This is a serious thirst-quencher. It’s packed with essential oils, aloe vera, ginseng and lemon and left my skin revived and fresh. Octavia: Energising and refreshing, this non-sticky spray smells like a holiday in a bottle. My body was instantly fragranced and hydrated, but it’s pricey.
3
Great Body Mist HHH Look’s Sam: Enriched with botanical extracts and vitamins, this comes out as a spray rather than a mist. A spritz on my legs post-shaving helped to condition and soothe. Octavia: As well as nourishing, this mist is great at brightening and firming, but while my skin felt slightly softer, an hour later it was in need of some more moisture.
4
Hand Chemistry
Hyaluronic Body Mist HHHHH Look’s Sam: If you’re short on time and in need of instant hydration, this is your saviour! The mist provides easy whole-body coverage and improved skin texture in a few days. Octavia: The citrus scent isn’t too strong and, after misting it over my body, I felt refreshed. It kept my skin feeling soft, supple and hydrated for hours.
5
Burberry
My Burberry Moisturising Body Mist HHHH Look’s Sam: Infused with Burberry’s hit fragrance, My Burberry, this luxe lightweight body mist instantly absorbs, and after spritzing it all over, my skin felt silky smooth. Octavia: I love that this is a moisturising mist and perfume all in one. It left me smelling of roses, but it’s more than I’d usually spend.

This will help to boost circulation as well as exfoliate, soften and smooth the skin. l Spray moisturiser on before drying after a bath or shower – it’ll lock in hydration and keep your skin supple. l For seriously parched areas, spray several pumps of lotion into the palm of your hand and rub in until absorbed.

2015’s Hottest New Fitness Trends! Get ready to move. This year’s new exercise classes are so much fun you won’t even know you’re working out…
FOR YOGA DEMONS: BUTI
Looks like you can forget the lentils and sandals image with Buti yoga
WHAT IS IT: A yoga class with a touch of twerking. Yep, you read that right. Buti (rather appropriately pronounced ‘booty’) combines key yogic principles with energetic, tribal-influenced dance, including Zumba and shakin’ it, Miley-style. WORK IT: A typical class lasts up to 90 minutes and blends yoga poses, squats and stretches with high-energy dance moves, accompanied by thumping beats. THE RESULTS: Want the abs of Jennifer Love Hewitt or the long limbs of Julia Roberts? Both actresses are huge fans of Buti and its ability to lengthen muscles while strengthening the core. Plus, depending on how hard you work, a class can burn up to 800 calories. WHERE TO DO IT: Buti classes started at Gymbox (Gymbox.com) from January and are set to become widely available during 2015. Online programmes and DVDs are also available at Butiyoga.com.
FOR DANCE LOVERS: NAE NAE
WHAT IS IT: Twerking is sooo 2014 (unless you’re doing it in your yoga class, that is). This year it’s all about ‘dropping the Nae Nae’, with Beyoncé and J-Lo already giving it a go in their dance routines. The Nae Nae is a celebratory urban dance originally invented by hip-hop group WeAreToonz, in which you sway your body back and forth, flex your knees and wave one arm in the air. WORK IT: Though it is open to interpretation, a side to side, leg and body bounce is the basic foundation of Nae Nae. Once you’ve mastered that move, it can be incorporated into a fully choreographed cardio dance. THE RESULTS: All that bending and grinding really works your thighs, but it’s great for an all-over workout, too. An hour-long session burns up to 450 calories. Classes are suitable for anyone willing to give that booty a shake. WHERE TO DO IT: Classes launched at Gymbox (Gymbox.com) this year or practise with videos online.

The Nae Nae: after you’ve mastered it at the gym, you’ll be working it at the clubs, too
‘Yep, this really, really hurts’
FOR BUSY BEES: PRIMAL SERIES
WHAT IS IT: Get fit in a flash. This is one tough set of classes that you can squeeze into your lunch hour. Featuring five different 30-minute workouts, they each take fitness back to basics by focusing on natural movements, such as pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, squatting, lunging, jogging and sprinting. Phew. WORK IT: The first workout in the series, ‘Strength’, uses kettlebells and Powerbags to build muscle, while ‘Core’ sets out to transform your abs and torso using stability balls. ‘Renew’ slows down the pace, using grid rollers for deep-tissue massage, which increases muscle tone and flexibility. ‘Perform’ ups the ante again with explosive bursts of exercise using dumbbells and ladders. Lastly, ‘Condition’ blends natural movements with the latest equipment such as Sandropes, Bosu Stax and water-based resistance training tool, Surge. THE RESULTS: You’ll never be stuck in a fitness rut with five different programmes to choose from, plus this means your entire body will be sculpted to perfection if the classes are all done regularly. WHERE TO DO IT: The Primal Series has just launched at LA Fitness gyms nationwide (Lafitness.co.uk).

FOR WANNABE OLYMPIANS: PRO ATHLETE WHAT IS IT: get ready to embrace your inner jessica ennis-hill. pro athlete has been designed to give you a flavour of an intense team gB regime. comprised of three separate programmes, workouts focus on the five disciplines that all professional athletes need: speed, endurance, power, agility and strength (a gold medal is sadly not included). WORK IT: each group exercise class is a 40-minute workout based on various olympic events. so one week you could be giving boxing a go, the next you’ll be doing track exercises such as on-the-spot sprints, lunges and burpees. there’s also the gym
Just picture Jess’s abs to keep yourself focused
WHAT IS IT: if your motto is ‘go hard or go home’, you need the grid in your life. the class runs on a grid system, where the floor is divided up into several different areas and six fundamental moves are incorporated into each class – twisting, pulling, pushing, bending, squatting and lunging. WORK IT: there are four different workouts, each of which is completed within the grid using equipment such as free weights, Bulgarian bags, rowing machines and bikes. grid Fit is a cardio class; grid Lean is an interval workout that burns calories fast; grid strong is a high-intensity circuit to build strength and resistance, and grid active is an obstacle course. instructors will also subject you to a ‘tough Minute’ to push you harder. THE RESULTS: Yes, this class is tough, but it’s so full-on that you can burn up to 700 calories in just 30 minutes (you’ll really need to push yourself for that, though!). now that’s motivation. plus it’s not just fatburning – the classes have a huge range of other benefits, including improving your muscle strength and helping you to move better in daily life. the overall result is a toned, strong and fit body. WHERE TO DO IT: Classes are now running at Virgin Active gyms (Virginactive.co.uk) nationwide.

FOR ADRENALINE JUNKIES: THE GRID
Floor workout, with sets of kettlebell lunges, box jumps, sandbell slams and 200m treadmill sprints, while the gym Floor challenge is only for the very hardcore, who want to push themselves to the limit. THE RESULTS: there’s a reason athletes look so good. these classes are intense, with little chance to catch your breath, meaning you could easily burn 500 calories per session. plus the wide range of activities makes for all-over muscle tone and fitness. WHERE TO DO IT: Pro Athlete classes are running at Fitness First gyms nationwide (Fitnessfirst.co.uk).

My Style File From assistant buyer to design manager…
…I climbed the fashion career ladder at my previous job, before joining Tu in 2013.
I travel the world for work.
I’m very lucky to have visited some amazing places. A real highlight was going to Cape Town, South Africa, to do a swimwear shoot near Table Mountain – breathtaking.
I’m very much a ‘dress’ girl…
…so I love retro 50s and 60s looks. I like the fact clothing inspired by these decades has a sense of humour to it, as well as being sexy. I’m quite petite and girlie, so Dior is one of my favourite brands as it is very feminine.
Toni Salters
Head of ladies’ design for Tu at Sainsbury’s Toni’s Top Tips l Remember that what you
wear underneath your clothes is just as important as what you put over the top. Everything in your wardrobe should make you feel fabulous and sexy. l For SS15, look out for the mid-century modern trend, as seen at Erdem. I’ll be tapping into the look with a riviera-style full circle skirt and a broderie anglaise crop top this spring. l An eveningwear outfit is never complete without black liquid eyeliner and red lipstick – it’s a classic combination that will help create a strong, statement look.
