Search Tips              

Search with an exact phrase by using “quotation marks” around specific words You can use the Plus + sign to specify particular items you want in your results You can use the minus - sign to specify particular items you don't want in your results Use the related: operator to find pages that has similar content by typing related: followed by the website address. Search for items within a number range by putting a string .. between amounts. Ex. (Sony TV $300..$500) Get number conversions. Ex. (miles to km) Get the time by typing the time and the city or country. Ex. (time cancun) Get current exchange rates by searching [currency 1] in [currency 2]. Ex. (usd in pesos) Check the weather Ex. (weather Chicago) Get definitions by putting define: in front of any word. Ex (define: coffee) Calculate anything by entering any math equation into the search box. Ex. (100*3.14-cos(83)=) Search by location by adding a zip code to the end of any search. Ex. (barbecue ribs 25303) Search by voice by tapping the microphone button on the Google search box on your home screen. Search by image by clicking on the camera icon on the Google search box in Google Images.

Search by Reading Levels From the Google homepage type in your search and hit enter. Under the search box click Search Tools> Reading Level

Not much to say about email except it is a typical email system. It can also be used in conjunction with the calendar

Google Drive provides a storage area for files and folders. Once you log into Google, click on the Drive menu link and your folders and files will be displayed.

You can download the desktop folder. This options gives you the ability to drag and drop files to your Google drive. In the browser version you can upload files, create new ones, and share files and folders. To upload files click the upload button beside the Create button. To create a new folder click the New Folder button located above the My Drive file list. Name the file in the popup window and hit create. The new folder will appear in the file list.

Share a Folder

From your My Drive view select the folder you want to share. You will notice new button appear beside the New Folder button. Select the Share button.

The Share window will open. In the gray area at the bottom of the screen type in the email address of the person in which you are sharing the folder.

The persons email address will appear on the list of People with Access.

Set permissions for that user and select Done.

The student will receive and email announcing the share. The individual can click on the body of the message to access the folder.

The individual must have a Google account. The folder will be found under the Shared with Me section on the My Drive Menu.

Google drive also gives you an opportunity to create Documents, Presentations, Spreadsheets, Forms and more.

You have the ability to Share files and/or folders. When doing so all shared users that are logged on and have the shared document open can view changes in real time. They also have access if permitted to edit the document in real time.

If a document is accidently created in the wrong folder, it can be moved by selecting it and selecting More> Organize. In the organize window chose the appropriate folder and click Move.
