Urban Mountains:

Wellness Spa and Hotel, Chicago Studio: Design Guide: Team:

Fall 2018, Semester 3, M. Arch. Professor Bognar Srujan Gadgil and Made Yudha

The project tries to break the solid Chicago grid to create a landmark, which accommodates the Wellness Spa and the hotel. The partially accessible and completely green topographical element as the podium of the building houses the Spa which now because of the surface above has a cave like feeling making the spa a more private and intimate space. The hotel tower due to the placement not only stands out in context with the surroundings but also works as a good landmark for the South Loop of City of Chicago which will create its own identity after the John Hancock in the North Loop and Willis Tower in the downtown.

Cannon Place II Veteran’s Housing

Phase II - Mercy Veteran’s Housing, Danville Studio: Design Guide: Team:

Spring 2018, Semester 2, M. Arch. Professor Christina Bollo. Srujan Gadgil and Marisa Urbina

This project is an extension to already existent Phase 1 of the Danville Mercy housing for homeless veterans. The projects runs on six design principles and tries to serve the veterans with a better care to fight PTSD, Physical Disabilities and many other illnesses. This housing project has a dedicated activity zone which not only serves the already present facility but also the Phase II of the project. This project also takes into account the materiality and color shades which are good from the point of health and well being of the residents.

Existing Storm Water Drain

Pedestrian Walkway

The existing building as seen in light green is merged with the new building creating only one entrance for both Phase I and II as shown in orange. The bridge here avoids the existing drainage system which runs along the contour line as shown in black. To enhance access to green and site a 1:20 sloped pedestrian walkway is proposed all around the site

9 Degrees

Mixed Use Building in Downtown Champaign Studio: Design Guide: Team:

Fall 2017, Semester 1, M. Arch. Professor Tyler Harris. Srujan Gadgil and Xianchao Wang

A street level design project consisting of a Multiplex Cinema Theatre as the podium and spec. office space as the upper floors. The site not only creates a landmark due to its form but enhances the street level interaction of pedestrians to the site. This project with it’s materiality gives a look of being contemporary yet identical with the general fabric of Champaign, Illinois.

25

26

Concept Evolution

27

1) 9 and 18 degrees, Optimal angle for projection

4) Adding Spec office. The mass looks bulky

2) Scooping entry by 18 degrees to create Grand entrance

5) Connecting the podium to upper floors making the building look one

3) Adding 9ÖŻ angle in elevation and adding an experiential walk

6) Adding vertical fins to reduce the fatness of the mass plus acting as a sun shading element

Multi-modal Transit Hub, Andheri, Mumbai Studio: Thesis Project, B. Arch. Design Guide: Professor Vinit Mirkar. Individual Project The thesis topic focuses on rearranging the highly complicated transport system at Andheri in Mumbai. Andheri station which handles over a million people daily, also has 7 different modes of transport. Crowded and mis-managed this station required a transformation where no mode of transport conflicts with the other mode of transport. A connection without disturbance.

Illini Union Facilities Design Studio BIM and design projects for Illini Union Professional Project for Illini Union Team head: David Guth The Illini Union Facilities Design Studio currently with a team of 4 people including our Interim Senior Facilities Director David Guth, are creating a BIM model in order to document all the phases of Illini Union building which is the main building at the UIUC campus. This BIM model now has documented the entire structure and almost 80% of the architecture piece. We will be documenting the MEP in the next stage. We at the studio also do suggestive interior renders for the projects pertaining to the Illini Union building.

Projects at Somaya and Kalappa Consultants Professional Projects for SNK Principal Architect: Ar. Brinda Somaya

Somaya and Kalappa Consultants (SNK) is one of the top architectural firms in India where I served first as an intern and later as a Junior Architect. As an intern and Junior architect I was majorly involved in making renderings, working drawings and designing was only done at secondary level.

Factory Re-use, Mumbai, India

Adaptive Reuse Project of a Non - Functional Factory

This was the initial design stage of the project where we just wanted to give an idea to the client about the entire project. I was involved in design and the presentation drawings for the same. (The name of the project is not specified for NDA purposes)
