03 IGNITION Professor: Course: Site: Project Brief:

Cynthia Ottchen Design 8 5th-14th Street Collins Ct, Miami Beach, FL The “ignition“ is a project that activates the alleys in Miami Beach. This urban project stretches over nine blocks. An elevated path serves as connecting platform for locals to meet and connect. The concept consists of three dimensions: inspiration, art and dialogue. Three pavilions mark each section: the amphitheater, the lounge and the gathering pavilion. Art is displayed throughout the alley.

04 INFILL HOUSE Professor: Course: Site: Project Brief:

Sara Valente Design 6 450 East Liberty Street, Savannah, GA Savannah is connected by small community parks that are lined with row houses. This project aims to design an infill house without disrupting the continuity of the city’s facade. Main spaces are pushed backwards to keep the facade aligned with existing buildings. Public and semi-public community spaces are created on the lower levels to attract visitors. Private living units are interconnected by a series of stairs. The infill house has a garden connection to a carriage house that serves as an additional living unit.

Ernesto Cordero, Eugenia Alliegro and I participated in the DesignMix organized by IIDA. The theme was to construct a garment matching “Miami Vice” by using materials based on our sponsor’s (POJV, contractor) operation. I was not only part of the design team, but also presented the final garment at the Perez Art Museum in Miami, where we received the “Best Construction” Award.
