Who We Are:
Dissonance Dance Theatre is the flagship and resident professional dance company of Ngoma Center for Dance. Dissonance brings with it professional dancers who inspire, interact with, educate and entertain Ngoma Center for Dance students — as well as the Washington, D.C., community-at-large.
Artist Development:
Dissonance Dance Theatre provides a platform for emerging dance professionals to hone their artistic and administrative skills while performing in Washington, D.C.’s rising contemporary ballet company.

Being a Part of the Team: Dissonance Dance Theatre dancers enjoy a three-tier ranking system: company dancer, (paid stipends), apprentice (non-paid), Jr. apprentice (non-paid), and trainee (tuition based). Production Season: Dissonance dancers enjoy a season of 3-5 productions, with performances in mid and large size theatres. Partners in Care: Dissonance Dance Theatre has partnerships with Performance Plus Physical Therapy and RHBodyworks Massage Therapy to assist dancers with staying healthy. Community Engagement: In dancer contracts, dancers provide several free performance to communities in need. These performance increase the reach of Dissonance Dance Theatre in communities at large.

Audition Company dancers receive performance stipends and pointe shoe allotments for classically trained female dancers. Apprentices and junior apprentices are non-paid positions.
