Whether you’re a high school student looking for summer employment, or a college or graduate student seeking a substantive internship supporting the arts in D.C., there’s no limit as to how far our opportunities can take you. At Ngoma Center for Dance, you’ll have the opportunity to gain insight into a budding dance organization, explore new career avenues and acquire lifelong skills. Our two programs, (1) Production, and (2) Administration, enable students to obtain job experience in a in the theatre and in the back office. The opportunities are endless—and they all start right here. Our internship program is a year-round; Fall internships, summer internships, semester internships, and quarterly internships. Internships are primarily unpaid. However, we work with college students to acquire college credit. Paid internships occur from time to time.

Talent, Talent, Talent. Ngoma is always looking for forward thinking, progressive, funny, light hearted and hard working candidates to work with us. We work in a telecommute environment using technology to streamline productivity.

Productivity. Interns aid Ngoma with short-term support. The extra sets of hands help us become more productive with side projects, as well as creative tasks or higher-level, strategic thinking or expertise. Interns are valued and appreciated.

Give back to the community. As a small organization, Ngoma relies on community support. Our internship program is an excellent way for us to give back. Hiring interns not only helps students in our community get started; it enhances the creative economy as a whole.

Support students. Internships provide students numerous perks: They gain experience, develop skills, make connections, strengthen their resumes, learn about a field, and assess their interest and abilities.

About Ngoma Center for Dance (N-Go-mah) is a 501(c)3 arts organization founded in 2012 to provide minority youth, adults, and their enthusiast, with a deeper understanding of dance as an art form and a discipline. Its mission and goal is to produce and refine competitive level dance artists in a multicultural environment through its resident dance company Dissonance Dance Theatre (founded in 2007), Africanistic dance training, Ngoma Reader Magazine, in house professional career coaching, and artists development.
