THE PSALMS
The brothers sing an Antiphon before and after each Psalm and Canticle
Psalm 110:1–5, 7 Dixit Dominus
1 The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, * until I make your enemies your footstool.”
2 The Lord will send the scepter of your power out of Zion, * saying, “Rule over your enemies round about you.
3 Princely state has been yours from the day of your birth; * in the beauty of holiness have I begotten you, like dew from the womb of the morning.”
4 The Lord has sworn and he will not recant: * “You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.”
5 The Lord who is at your right hand will smite kings in the day of his wrath; * he will rule over the nations.
7 He will drink from the brook beside the road; * therefore he will lift high his head.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: * as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
1 Hallelujah!
Give praise, you servants of the Lord; * praise the Name of the Lord.
2 Let the Name of the Lord be blessed, * from this time forth for evermore.
Psalm113 Laudate, pueri3 From the rising of the sun to its going down * let the Name of the Lord be praised.
4 The Lord is high above all nations, * and his glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like the Lord our God, who sits enthroned on high, * but stoops to behold the heavens and the earth?
6 He takes up the weak out of the dust * and lifts up the poor from the ashes.
7 He sets them with the princes, * with the princes of his people.
8 He makes the woman of a childless house * to be a joyful mother of children.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: * as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Psalm 130 De profundis
1 Out of the depths have I called to you, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice; * let your ears consider well the voice of my supplication.
2 If you, Lord, were to note what is done amiss, * O Lord, who could stand?
3 For there is forgiveness with you; * therefore you shall be feared.
4 I wait for the Lord; my soul waits for him; * in his word is my hope.
5 My soul waits for the Lord, more than watchmen for the morning, * more than watchmen for the morning.
6 O Israel, wait for the Lord, * for with the Lord there is mercy;
7 With him there is plenteous redemption, * and he shall redeem Israel from all their sins.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: * as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Psalm 117 Laudate Dominum
1 Praise the Lord, all you nations; * laud him, all you peoples.
2 For his loving-kindness toward us is great, * and the faithfulness of the Lord endures for ever. Hallelujah!
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: * as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
THE LESSONS & MAGNIFICAT
The Lesson John 3:31–36
All rise with the Superior for The Song of Mary Magnificat Antiphon
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior; * for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed: * the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him * in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm, * he has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, * and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things, * and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel, * for he has remembered his promise of mercy, The promise he made to our fathers, * to Abraham and his children for ever.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: * as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
Antiphon
All remain standing for The Apostles’ Creed
Officiant I believe in God, All the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
Officiant The Lord be with you All And also with you. Officiant Let us pray. All Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your Name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven.
