Meals on Wheels

Wayne County Office of Nutrition offers home delivered meals.

Call 1-800-851-1454 to apply for this program. Holiday meals may also be provided by completing the paperwork given to you by our driver.

The Grosse Ile Recreation Department is pleased to provide transportation service for residents who are senior citizens, low income or disabled. This “essential errands” service is for those who do not own a vehicle or are unable to drive due to medical reasons.

Transportation is available Monday through Friday 1:00-4:30 PM. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance, with 2 to 4 days preferable.

Fee: $5/on island, $6 off (Round Trip)

The van service runs: East to West Jefferson West to Allen Road

North to Northline Road

South to Vreeland Road

Grosse Ile Senior Citizen Club

This organized club meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month throughout the year at the Centennial Farm Activity Room. The Club is a social club for men and women ages 55 and up living on Grosse Ile. Activities include games, trivia, show and tell, and bingo.

HANDS ONLY CPR/AED TRAINING

Date: Thursday, May 11 at 10:30am. This is a one hour training on learning the basics of hands only CPR/AED. Choking emergencies are also covered in this class (American Heart Association). Location: Centennial Farm Activity Room. FREE. Must call to register.

STOP THE BLEED – BLEEDING CONTROL

Date: Thursday, June 8 at 10:30am

Learn various ways to stop/control bleeding. You can save a life by learning the basic techniques during this one hour class. Location: Centennial Farm Activity Room. FREE. Must call to register.
