The Grecian Café in Plymouth Proudly Welcomes Chef Theodore The famous Chef Theodore Mitropoulous has joined the staff at The Grecian Café in Plymouth after illustrious careers in New Orleans, Beverly Hills, Philadelphia, New Jersey and Michigan. Chef Theodore to his legions of fans has been featured in Bon Appetit Magazine, Food & Wine, Money Magazine, USA Today, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, The Trenton Times, Philadelphia Magazine, Inside Magazine, and a host of other publications all lauding his skill in the kitchen and artistry at the stove. His awards include the honor as the Best Greek Restaurant in Philadelphia, a medal of honor from Champagne Mumms, first place in the Restaurant School Annual Chefs Gala and even honors in an International Chefs Irish Stew Cook Off, among a multitude of others. He was the executive chef at the Raleigh House in Southfield for several years and will now bring his fresh, unique food philosophy to The Grecian Café. Chef Theodore believes in fresh, inherently healthful cuisines; simple, seasonal and very much in tune with the times. His emphasis is always on the cooking. To Chef Theodore, a chef is an artist. He believes that quality should be high, prices low and portions generous. He isnʼt stingy with his secretʼs either. He is always willing to give recipes to customers for favorite dishes. Some of his most famous include a sausage and potato omelet, pita bread salad, oxtail and lime bean stew, black bean soup and raisin rice pudding. Many of which may find their way onto the menu at The Grecian Café very soon. He owned his own restaurant in Philadelhpia where food critics and writers couldnʼt say enough about the flavors, freshness and taste of his dishes. his braised lamb drew raves, and his soutzoukia, moussaka, spinach pie and pastitsio were compared to culinary heaven. Chef Theodore is a chef, he says, because that is what he loves. He claims three degrees from Athens University doctor of divinity, political science, classical philosophy. He also claims to have sung opera seven time at LaScala and to have taught philosophy at the University level. It is creating wonderful food that is his passion which he will satisfy at The Grecian Café while he delight area patrons.
