Grounded in traditions of growth and excellence, the St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes Athletic department seeks to provide a competitive and supportive atmosphere in which our student-athletes can thrive and flourish.

With 25 sports, over 70 teams and more than 100 dedicated coaches and professionals, there is a place for everyone to find a passion and represent the Saints on a playing field, court, pool, mat, or track.

We consider our Saints Athletics program to be among the best in the region. Our studentathletes balance academic and athletic excellence and practice good sportsmanship. Our Saints are resilient, fair, and talented competitors on and off the field.

Alexandria Sportsman’s Club Athlete of the Month/Year

The Alexandria Sportsman’s Club, founded in 1947, is a non-profit and civic organization. The club’s sole purposes are to support local high school athletics and to recognize the achievements of our young athletes on the field and in the classroom.

Robert Watson Track & Field COACH OF THE YEAR

The “Coach of the Year” award is chosen annually by Upper School Saints Coaches and the Athletic Department. This award recognizes a stellar coach who goes above and beyond to create an amazing experience for our student athletes.

VARSITY TEAM AWARDS

The Outstanding Athlete Award recognizes the best overall athlete(s) on the team. The recipients are chosen by the coach(es) based on playing ability and overall contributions to the team.

The Saint Award recognizes the athletes who have exhibited a positive attitude, a desire to achieve and determination throughout the season. These athletes are selected by their peers and demonstrate an unselfish contribution to the welfare of the team and are dedicated to excellence in athletics.

Silver Bowl Participation Awards

The Silver Bowl Participation Award is presented to those senior athletes who have helped make the interscholastic program strong through their participation at the Varsity, JV and Freshman level. An athlete must participate in at least ten of twelve seasons in order to receive this award. Students who transfer into the school must participate in at least eight out of nine or five out of six seasons.

NFHCA National Academic Squad

The High School National Academic Squad program recognizes those high school seniors and juniors who have achieved a minimum cumulative, unweighted grade-point average of 3.50 out of 4.0 — or the equivalent — through the first quarter/semester of the 2023-24 school year, and were nominated by their NFHCA member coach.
