Junior Kindergarten The Junior Kindergarten girls have been exploring balance and, in particular, the sculptural balance of mobiles. The children themselves observed that after making mobiles and struggling with finding ways to make them balance, their work at the block platform with fulcrum-and-lever balance became easier.

Kindergarten Although March and April came in like a lion, kindergarten children and teachers all look forward to warm days to come. They have had a busy few months. The girls spent some time talking and reading about Dr. Seuss, whose birthday was in March. They learned about famous women and our monthly virtue of patience. They studied the United Kingdom and the custom of drinking tea in preparation for their visit to St. Christopher’s for an English Tea with their friends. One of the highlights of the month was a visit from Roxie Munroe, author and illustrator of some wonderful informational books for children. 2

Grade 1 First grade has been busy exploring the 7 continents and beginning their maps skills unit. They are looking at things from a "birds eye perspective" and are beginning to draw and create their own maps using a compass rose and map key. The girls also enjoyed "waking up" the garden for spring after the cold winter season. They removed the Reemay that covered the beds, tilled the soil and planted strawberry and cabbage plants.

Grade 2 Second graders are really having fun with math games! They have reinforced their knowledge of geometry concepts, place value, problem solving and multi-digit computations through their games.
