COMMUNITY STUDENT WORKSHOPS

At Saint Joseph Academy, we are always finding ways to engage with future Bloodhounds and community of Brownsville. This past fall, SJA offered Saturday workshops for students in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade. These workshops allowed students the opportunity to experience a sampling of classes offered at SJA. The classes included in the Saturday workshops were: WaterColoring Workshop, Pencil Drawing Techniques, Forensic CSI Labs Workshop and Intro to Theatre! Stay tuned for dates of similar workshops to be offered at Saint Joseph Academy in the spring and summer of 2021.

"Just wanted to reach out and say a big thank you for your student workshops. Meli attended two art classes and the theatre class. She learned a lot and had a great time The teachers were amazing and we will definitely recommend the workshops to others in the future." - SJA Parent

RELIGIOUS STUDIES

At Saint Joseph Academy, faith is integrated into the rigorous academic curriculum and is a part of everything that we do. Through service, students put what they learned into action. Students at St. Joe learn to know and love Jesus Christ. They learn to apply the Roman Catholic teaching to the analysis of personal and social issues, apply lessons from the old and new testaments to their own experiences, knowledge of church history, and participate in worship and mission of the Church. The Saint Joseph Academy C all To Ministry class (Senior level religion class) presented a live nativity for the entire student body to celebrate the birth of Jesus. The Live Nativity is a time honored tradition at Saint Joseph Academy that the students look forward to each year. "And they shall call His name Immanuel, GOD WITH US". Matthew 1:23

LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE At Saint Joseph Academy, our students take pride year round in serving the community of Brownsville through service projects and special events. At SJA we are equally committed to our students' academic success as we are to forming well-rounded humans with their eyes towards deepening a relationship with God. Through Liturgy, daily prayer, retreats, acts of service and more, our students mature spiritually.

"For it is in giving that we receive."

- Saint Francis of Assisi

In the month of December, clubs at SJA including: the Rotary interact Club, National Honor Society, Spanish Club and the Marist Youth Group, all hosted a giving drive, community service involvement and sharing the message of the birth of Jesus by performing and presenting a Live Nativity. The SJA Rotary Interact Club and Marist Youth groups hosted a Christmas card decorating event. They also organized a Nursing Home Gift Drive to donate socks, blankets, and goodies to the nursing home this Christmas. The Spanish Club gathered sweaters of all types to donate to those less fortunate during the winter season. The Marist Youth and National Junior Honor Society hosted a snack pack program partnered with United Way to help provide children with adequate healthy, child-friendly food over the Christmas season. The National Honor Society collected toys which were then distributed by Father Adam to underprivileged children this holiday season.
