CALL TO CONFESSION Rev. Kim King

CONNECT HERE

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Loving God, we confess our need for you. At times we get confused about that. We try to earn your acceptance and become critical in the process. We try to deserve your love and become judgmental of those who don’t measure up. We cling to the things we and others have failed to do while missing what you have done. Forgive us when our hearts grow hard and our spirits dry up for lack of love and remind us that it is through the acceptance of your grace in Jesus Christ that we become the children with whom you are well pleased.

To find your way of connecting with classes or small groups at St. Luke’s, stop by our Connect Here booths this morning in the Gathering Area outside of the Sanctuary or in the West Passage outside of Robertson Chapel.

PRAYER CONCERNS Share prayer concerns on the prayer cards in your pew pockets and place them in the offering plate – or find the “Prayer Request” link at stlukesumc.com. Pastors are available for prayer following each worship service.

Singing together: As the deer panteth for the water, So my soul longeth after thee. You alone are my heart’s desire, And I long to worship thee. You alone are my strength, my shield; To you alone may my spirit yield. You alone are my heart’s desire, And I long to worship thee.

CARING FOR ST. LUKE’S If you are hospitalized, we want to know and care for you. Please call Laura Marine at 317-846-3404 or send an email to stlukescares@stlukesumc.com.

Shall We Gather at the River? | No. 723

* LITANY OF EZEKIEL | Ezekiel 47 (selected verses)

Gustanna Moss Chaney Refrain: Flowing by the throne of God. Leader: Then he brought me back to the entrance to the Temple. I saw water pouring out from under the Temple porch to the east. People: The water poured from the south side of the Temple, south of the altar. Leader: He then took me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the fate complex on the east. People: The water was gushing from under the south front of the Temple.

* standing, as able

Refrain: Flowing by the throne of God. Leader: He walked to the east with a measuring tape and measured off fifteen hundred feet, leading me through water that was ankledeep. People: He measured off another fifteen hundred feet, leading me through water that was knee-deep. Leader: He measured off another fifteen hundred feet, leading me through water that was waist-deep. People: He measured off another fifteen hundred feet. By now it was a river over my head, water to swim in, water no one could possibly walk through. Refrain: Flowing by the throne of God. Leader: Then he took me back to the riverbank. While sitting on the bank, I noticed a lot of trees on both sides of the river. He told me, “This water flows east, descends to the Arabah and then into the sea, the sea of stagnant waters. When it empties into those waters, the sea will become fresh. Wherever the river flows, life will flourish – great schools of fish – because the river is turning the salt sea into fresh water.” People: Where the river flows, life abounds. Fishermen will stand shoulder to shoulder along the shore, casting their nets. Leader: The river itself, on both banks, will grow fruit trees of all kinds. Their leaves won’t wither, the fruit won’t fail. Every month they’ll bear fresh fruit because the river from the Sanctuary flows to them. People: “Their fruit will be food and their leaves for healing.” Refrain: Flowing by the throne of God. * GREETING ONE ANOTHER
