MLK ALL-YOUTH SERVICE DAY MONDAY, JANUARY 16 AT 9AM LUKE’S LODGE / OFF-CAMPUS Our tradition of serving our community in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr’s legacy is back! Middle schoolers, high schoolers, and their adults are invited to serve together at various service partners. Our service partners include but are not limited to: Changing Footprints, Indiana Diaper Bank, Fletcher Place, and Family Promise. DREAM KEEPERS PANEL MONDAY, JANUARY 16 • 10AM • ZOOM Join St. Luke’s United Methodist Church on Monday, January 17 as we honor the legacy and the lessons of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in our third annual Dream Keepers panel discussion. This gathering of justice-thought leaders will explore the ways in which King’s call for equity and anti-racism translates to economic, educational, political, and community development initiatives today. MINDFULNESS BASED STRESS REDUCTION INTRODUCTORY CLASS JANUARY 17 OR 24 FROM 6-7PM • NORTH INDY – N101 Scott Sweet will be hosting an Introductory Class that provides an overview of what the 8-session Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction classes will cover. CREATION CARE VEGAN LUNCH SUNDAY, JANUARY 29 • 12:15PM • NORTH INDY – GREAT HALL All are invited to enjoy a vegan lunch prepared by Chef Joesph and learn about Thrive Indianapolis, an actionable plan that brings together city agencies, community partners (St. Luke’s is one), and residents to chart an equitable and healthy future for our city. CONFIRMATION CLASS JANUARY 29 - MARCH 12 All students grade 7th and above who are active participants of St. Luke’s are invited to this 6-week Confirmation Class. The goal of Confirmation is to confirm faith in God and desire to follow Jesus Christ with their whole heart and confirm membership at St. Luke’s. We will cover how to use the Bible, the history of the Methodist church, elements of church, and how to discover and share our gifts with the church. Students will be Confirmed on Sunday, March 19. FOSTER CARE & ADOPTION MEET-UP SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4 AT 9AM NORTH INDY - COMMUNITY ROOM This event is designed for foster and adoptive parents, Safe Family parents, kinship providers, grandparents, pastors, psychologists, social workers, licensed counselors, marriage and family counselors, nurses, and all those who care for orphaned and vulnerable children. It is a time for you to be physically, emotionally, spiritually refreshed, and inspired. Discussions have included or may include transracial adoption, attachment issues, navigating relationships with birth parents and families, and the effects of trauma, among others. The conference provides an opportunity to hear speakers from the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana, Family Promise, and Fairbanks School of Public Health, to address the state of fair housing in Indianapolis today and share their ideas on how to affect change on a local level.
