MINORITY BUSINESS INCUBATORS’ PITCH DAY SATURDAY, JANUARY 21 AT 10AM | NORTH INDY - CHAPEL • ONLINE

Small businesses contribute to local economies by supplying growth and innovation. Despite their growing importance, minority businesses face many obstacles, particularly when it comes to business financing. Minority businesses are much less likely to get loans than non-minority business owners, and the ones that minority small businesses get from lenders tend to be half of what their counterparts receive. Crooked Creek Community Development Corporation’s neighborhood business incubator supports residents in their efforts to start, manage, and grow their own business by pairing them with consultants and mentors to develop strategies and financial models that position businesses for future success. Come learn about this year’s group of entrepreneurs and discover ways you can support their businesses! Sign up at stlukesumc.com/antiracist.

TRADITIONAL ORDER OF WORSHIP

Welcome and Call to Worship | Rev. Rob Fuquay

Leader: God created all the races and nations of the world and willed that we live together in peace and harmony.

All: We were made to be family.

Leader: There is strife in the human family. Injustice, prejudice and wars abound keeping people from sharing equally in the blessings and opportunities this world affords.

All: We have been called to let justice roll down like waters.

Leader: As we put Christ at the center of our worship remind us that Jesus’ hands were kind hands, his words were loving words, and his eyes looked upon all with compassion.

All: May our worship inspire us as the people of God to go forth and show that you are a God for all people.

Opening Hymn | O Church of God, United #547

Responsive Litany | Rev. Eric Burton-Krieger

Leader: God of all races and nations, we praise you for all your faithful servants who have done justice, loved mercy, and walked humbly with God.

All: We give you thanks, O God.

Leader: Today we especially give thanks for Martin Luther King Jr., for his courage and conviction, for his passion and peace, and for his tireless quest of a nation that keeps faith with its promises.

All: We give you thanks, O God.

Leader: For the nameless multitudes who suffered the tortures of slavery and the tyranny of oppression, who were beaten, raped, and lynched, and for the nameless multitudes today whose lives are stunted and cut short by the economic and social structures of brutality.

All: We grieve and promise to work for justice, O God.

Leader: And for children and adults of every race who are denied education, healthcare, jobs, housing, and hope in our land.

All: We grieve and promise to work for justice, O God.

Leader: In the name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and forever.

All: Amen.

Benediction | Rev. Rob Fuquay

Leader: Where is Jesus, the one you call Lord and Savior?

People: Christ is Risen! Christ is here among us!

Leader: I do not see him. I don’t believe you.

People: Christ is Risen! Christ is here among us!

Leader: Let me see his body, his hands and his feet.

People: We are Christ’s body; We are his hands and feet.

Leader: You see the suffering in the world? Where is Jesus now?

People: We are going into the world to be the body of Christ. Leader: Then let us go and let us see.

People: We go now with doubt that keeps us searching and enough faith to keep us serving.

ALL: Amen!
