All students grade 7th and above who are active participants of St. Luke’s are invited to this 6-week Confirmation Class. The goal of Confirmation is to confirm faith in God and desire to follow Jesus Christ with their whole heart and confirm membership at St. Luke’s. We will cover how to use the Bible, the history of the Methodist church, elements of church, and how to discover and share our gifts with the church. Students will be Confirmed on Sunday, March 19. Discussions have included or may include transracial adoption, attachment issues, navigating relationships with birth parents and families, and the effects of trauma, among others. HOUSING SYMPOSIUM: EXPLORING ISSUES OF EQUITY & STABILITY

The Housing Symposium kicks off our observance of Black History Month by addressing your most common questions and more. Against the physical backdrop of the exhibit entitled “Unwelcomed: A Fair Housing History of Sales & Lending Discrimination,” expert local speakers from the Fair Housing Center, Family Promise, and Fairbanks School of Public Health will address the state of housing in Indianapolis and its impact on the overall health of our community. We will bring together people who share a commitment to protect and further the rights of those facing housing instability in our community. And we will share ideas on how to affect change on a local level. You will not only learn more about this crisis, but you will also walk away with actionable steps to become part of the solution. Among other things, this includes a fundraising project designed to support a family from homelessness to housing stability through a one-year relationship with Family Promise. Gun homicide victims are more than just numbers. They are individuals with families and friends who are grieving. Join the Force for Good team to honor their lives and pray for their survivors. KIDS DAY IN FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 17 FROM

We will be hosting a Kid’s Day In for families that need a place for their kids to go while school is closed. This will give families an opportunity to go to work and send their child(ren) to a safe place. This event will be available for kids pre-k through 5th grade. We will have rotations in the mornings including a service project for the diaper bank, a craft, a snack, and large games. In the afternoon we will do a provided sack lunch, outdoor activities and games, and a movie (Preschool Movie - Curious George | Elementary Movie - Ralph Breaks the Internet). This event is $20/child with a $50 max. Please register in advance at stlukesumc.com/kids.

CREATION CARE UPDATE

In 2022, RecycleForce picked up 33,457 pounds of e-waste and other metals from our e-waste collection at St. Luke’s North Indy. RecycleForce is a 501(c)3 that is committed to reducing crime through employment and job training, while improving the environment through electronics recycling. Since 2006, RecycleForce has safely recycled more than 65 million pounds of electronic waste while providing job training to thousands of returning citizens. Learn more at recycleforce.org.
