BACK TO SCHOOL EXTRAVAGANZA NOW – JULY 24 In Washington Township, over 40% of kids are registered for free and reduced lunch and struggle to get the supplies they need to start the school year strong. That’s why St. Luke’s started Back to School Extravaganza and Adopt A Classroom where we provide over 4,200 students - that’s every single elementary student who receives free or reduced lunch - with every item on their school supply list as well as school supply support throughout the academic year. And this year, we will also extend our reach by adopting classrooms Kenya via our outreach partner UMOJA. Our support will provide food, books, uniforms, and school supplies for Kenyan elementary students for the entire academic year. Sign up and give at stlukesumc.com/ backtoschool. CONNECTIONS BOOKSTORE OPEN SUNDAYS • 9AM - NOON Located outside the main sanctuary, Connections is a place to find inspirational gifts, books authored by our pastors, Bibles, and devotionals. Support our local community by shopping at Connections. The store is run by volunteers, and the profits fund local community members in need. Stop in on Sundays from 9AM to noon for your graduation gifts!

SUMMER CELEBRATION ON THE LABYRINTH SUNDAY, JUNE 20 • 7-9:30PM • ST. LUKE’S LABYRINTH Our daylily labyrinth will be in full bloom and you are invited to stop by for 15 minutes or a couple of hours to celebrate the beauty of God’s creation. Bring a lawn chair and a music maker (flute, drum, tambourine, etc), walk the labyrinth, meet new people, and enjoy the summer evening. Kids love the labyrinth so bring them too. Stay and see the fireflies come out. It’s magical! Park by Luke’s Lodge, walk around building, down the steps, across the bridge and into the neighborhood behind St. Luke’s. No registration is needed. See you there! MIDDLE SCHOOL MAYHEM MONDAY-FRIDAY • JUNE 21-25 Students entering 5th-8th graders this fall are invited to our FAVORITE event of the year: Middle School Mayhem! The theme is “Olympics: Mayhem.” This fun and exciting Day Camp consists of worship, group competitions, snacks, service projects, and time for a message and reflection in “crews” of 10 students and leaders. There are morning and full-day options for $30 or $100 for the entire week. It’s $30 for morning or $100 for full day. Scholarships are available. With the pace and suspense of a thriller and prose that has been compared to Graham Greene and Vladimir Nabokov, The Sympathizer is a sweeping epic of love and betrayal. The narrator, a communist double agent, is a “man of two minds,” a half-French, half-Vietnamese army captain who comes to America after the Fall of Saigon, and while building a new


life with other Vietnamese refugees in Los Angeles is secretly reporting back to his communist superiors in Vietnam. Rev. Jerry Zehr has written a comprehensive book inviting people to use the wisdom of many faith traditions to deepen your own tradition. Many leaders in the multifaith community (including Betty Brandt) have prayers included in the book. Jerry will talk about the book and answer questions, followed by a reception and book signing. URGENT NEED CARE VOLUNTEERS Each week, we care for hundreds of members in a myriad of ways. Recently, our need for visitation volunteers has increased and we’re looking for people who can meet with those currently living in a healthcare center, assisted living or confined to their home, to pray and/or just spend time with those individuals.
