TRADITIONAL ORDER OF WORSHIP Preludes | Michael Conley, piano Welcome and Call to Worship | Rev. Rob Fuquay Leader: The God who calls us to worship here today invites us to be a church that the world needs. As our world becomes more and more hostile. All: Let us be a church that models civility.

Leader: Even as we acknowledge our own words and actions that have caused damage and led to hurt and exclusion. All: Let us be a church that models civility.

Leader: As we come together in worship, may we be filled with the love, hope, and peace that God longs for us to share with all. All: Let us be a church that models civility.

Opening Hymn | O Church of God, United #547 Baptism | Samuel C. Medeiros | Rev. Rob Fuquay and Rev. Eric Burton-Krieger Anthem | Let Your Light Shine – Craig Courtney | Chancel Choir; Dr. Jeff Rogers, director Prayer Time and the Lord’s Prayer | Rev. Eric Burton-Krieger Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Announcements Call for Offering Offertory Song | Praise the One Who Makes Us One – Tom Trenney | Chancel Choir Scripture Reading | Acts 5:34-42 | Ellen Hostetler Message | Rev. Rob Fuquay Prayer of Confession/Assurance of Pardon

ALL: Gracious God, whether we admit it or not, we have failed at times to model the civility we want to see in others. When confronted with differences, especially when those differences are passionately expressed, we have found it easier to unfriend rather seek relationship. When confronted with disturbing statements and attitudes we have sometimes remained silent instead of speaking up. Because of someone’s words or actions we have assumed the worst about them rather than seeking understanding. We at times cling to our rightness rather than yielding the possibility that we could be wrong. Forgive us, O God, by the blood of Him who endured the cross unjustly yet spoke words of forgiveness instead, and hear us as we silently confess other ways we have fallen short. Let us hear and believe the good news that in the name of Jesus Christ we are forgiven, and by His forgiveness we can go out to be the church and let our light shine. Amen.

LEADER: Hear the good news: Through God’s love, we are forgiven! As forgiven people, we are called to go out as the church and let our light shine to glorify God. Amen. Closing Hymn | Help Us Accept Each Other #560 | (sung to The Church’s One Foundation) Benediction | Rev. Rob Fuquay Postlude | Michael Conley, organ
