TRADITIONAL ORDER OF WORSHIP Prelude | Clarice Stegall, organ, No. 1 in C Minor - Felix Mendelssohn Welcome and Call to Worship Leader: Brothers and sisters, God calls us to worship so we can become Church for all. All: Help us find and give hope through Jesus Christ. Leader: We are called to extend the love of God to all people, no matter who they are, where they are from, or how different they may be from us. All: Help us find and give hope through Jesus Christ. Leader: We are called to care beyond ourselves, and demonstrate your concern for the hurting and the suffering. All: Help us find and give hope through Jesus Christ. Leader: While the world often feels like a place that is upside down, let us work to turn the world right-side up! All: Help us find and give hope through Jesus Christ. Opening Hymn | Christ for the World We Sing #568 Anthem | Go Light Your World - Chris Rice, arr. Bruce Greer Prayer of Confession/Assurance | Rev. Mindie Moore
ALL: God of mercy and justice, we confess our struggle to live as you would have us live in this world that feels upside down. For those times when we have not loved our neighbor as ourselves: forgive us. When we have neglected the suffering and the sick: forgive us. When we have failed to advocate for those who face injustice and inequity: forgive us. For believing we cannot make a difference in the world and in a faith tradition that has such widespread disorder: forgive us. Help us to reach beyond ourselves and find the ways you wish us to disrupt the status quo to do your good work. (Silent Confession) Leader: Remind us Lord that as far as the east is from the west you take our sins from us, and as your forgiven people hear us as we lift our prayers of praise and concern to you...
Prayer Time and the Lord’s Prayer | Rev. Mindie Moore
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
