Whose Birthday Is It? Again in 2009, St. Luke’s will be asking the congregation to think about giving to those in need in addition to those gifts we give our own loved ones. “Whose Birthday Is It?” asks us to remember the reason we give gifts at Christmas and to give in the spirit of Jesus. The following groups are being supported by St. Luke’s Outreach Ministries this holiday season: Bears on Patrol, Fletcher Place Christmas Shopping, Fox Hill Elementary School, Heifer International, Mitten Tree, Outreach, Inc., Water for Life and United Christmas Service. A general gift may be given to support all these ministry areas. Look for the “Whose Birthday Is It?” brochure in the pew or at the Information Desk, complete the form and drop in the collection basket or the main office. Your gift may be in the form of a financial donation or a specific item/items and you may give a gift in someone’s honor. For more information, contact Jayne Thorne at thornej@stlukesumc.com.

The First Christmas Wednesday, December 2-16, 9:30–11AM in E105 Join us for this short three-week series as we review how biblical accounts of the first Christmas can be placed in our faith journeys today. GLOBAL HEALTH MINISTRIES Moving Forward by Giving Back 2010 Calendars You can never have too many calendars . . . and you can certainly never have too many calendars that can make a significant impact to so many organizations and the people they serve. The “Moving Forward by Giving Back” 2010 calendar is a useful tool that benefits 12 non-profit organizations, including The Power of One and the Indianapolis Interfaith Hunger Initiative. The calendars will be available for purchase in the West Passage on Sunday mornings before and after the 9:30 worship services, and during the week in the main office. Cost is $10–less than $1/month! Let every day of 2010 make a difference with the purchase of this calendar.

Imani Gifts for Sale The Imani Workshop in Kenya has wonderful gift items including jewelry, shawls and dolls in the West Passage on Sunday, December 6. Imani Workshop is run by HIV-affected people in Eldoret, Kenya as part of the Indiana-Kenya Partnership. Give in two ways: (1) gifts that your family and friends will enjoy, and (2) by helping those in Kenya have hope and income. For more information contact Annette Pettigrew at 848-9798.

Green Gratitude Award The Green Ministry appreciates all those who plan “GREEN” events. They use dishes, silverware and glasses rather than single use cups and plates, break down corrugated board and place in recycling containers along with paper, cans and plastics. FYI—the recycling containers in the building and the recycling bin by Luke’s Lodge are for internal use only. Just like curbside recycling, St. Luke’s Green Ministry pays to have our on-site recycling bin. You can take all your comingled recycling to containers at the WalMarts around town, or invest in curbside recycling.

Green Ministry Leadership Team Our ministry leadership team meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month, 5:30-7PM in E213 and welcomes new people to the discussion. Contact Betty Brandt (brandb@stlukesumc.com, 846-3404) or just show up.
